Synaesthesia Painting Workshop

Let the music guide you to a work of art with this unique painting class in Manchester.

2.5 hours Class size 8 to 100     label £30

Synesthesia is an extremely interesting ability where some people see shapes and colours when they hear music or words. This can make for some incredible art when your favourite songs become the muse!

To start this special art class, you will be asked to pick a song when you book. Your talented teacher Libby will then guide you through seeing and experiencing the song you requested through the medium of paint.

Follow along with what Libby sees in the music, paint with whatever resonates with you or freestyle it completely. As you paint together, Libby will share some interesting information on her synesthesia and answer any of your questions.

All the art supplies will be provided from brushes to canvases and aprons. All you need to do is come with an open mind and be ready to get creative. It's a super fun group activity that is easy to plan and is perfect for a birthday party, hen do, or just a fun day with your pals!

Your teacher is completely mobile and can come to plenty of places around Manchester to bring this musical and arty fun to you! Have less than eight people but still want to take part? Your teacher will be happy to run a class for smaller groups, but a total price of £240 will apply.

By the end of this painting class, you will leave with your finished art piece and a feeling of creative satisfaction after spending some much needed social time in the colourful world of art.

I have a neurological condition called synaesthesia, which means I experience sound as colour.

I’ve been using this to paint songs since I was in college, and in my class, I’ll guide you through how I paint a song of your choosing. The majority of my paintings are made with wax, but we’ll be using acrylic paints as they're easier (and far safer). You can choose any song you like, from Metallica to Taylor Swift, your favourite TV show’s theme tune to your mate’s new single (as long as they’re on Spotify!).
