Snap & Share: Street Photography Workshop in Manchester
Ever walked through Manchester and spotted something you wished you could capture just a little better?
Join me, Priti, for a relaxed, hands-on street photography workshop exploring Manchester city centre. We'll head out onto the streets together, learn to see everyday surroundings differently and discover how to turn ordinary moments into more interesting, creative photographs.
Whether you're using a DSLR, mirrorless camera or smartphone, this workshop is about developing your creative eye, understanding why certain photographs work and building the confidence to experiment with your own style.
You don't need to be an expert or have years of photography experience. Just bring your camera, curiosity and a willingness to see Manchester differently.
What you'll learn
  • Composition and framing: Learn how to use leading lines, shapes, patterns and framing to create stronger photographs.
  • Finding the shot: Discover interesting details, moments, architecture and perspectives you might usually walk straight past.
  • Working with light: Understand how light and shadows can transform an everyday scene.
  • Camera settings: Get to grips with useful camera controls, including manual settings where appropriate, so you have more creative control over your images.
  • Developing your style: Experiment with different approaches and discover what makes a photograph feel interesting to you.
  • Editing your images: Explore accessible editing apps and simple ways to enhance your photographs.
  • Thinking like a photographer: Learn not just how to take a photograph, but why certain compositions, moments and techniques work.
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is ideal for beginners, hobbyists and anyone who wants to get more creative with photography.
Perhaps you've recently bought a camera and aren't quite sure where to start. Maybe you've been taking photographs for years but feel stuck in a rut. Or perhaps you simply love Manchester and want to explore it from a different perspective.
We'll keep things practical and approachable, with plenty of time to take photographs, ask questions and try new techniques.
You can bring a DSLR, mirrorless camera or smartphone. No previous experience is required.
Learn with a professional photographer
I'm Priti Shikotra, a Manchester-based photographer with over 10 years of professional experience across music, portraits, events and commercial photography.
My work has appeared in Kerrang! and NME, and I've worked with organisations including the British Museum, Manchester Museum and Factory International.
Photography has taken me into all sorts of environments, from intimate music venues to major live events. Along the way, I've learnt how to look for moments, work with changing light and find creative opportunities in the places around me.
I also deliver photography workshops for individuals, groups and businesses. My teaching style is relaxed, friendly and hands-on. There'll be no intimidating technical jargon or pressure to get the perfect shot just practical advice, experimentation and plenty of encouragement.
A small-group photography experience
Public sessions are limited to a maximum of four participants, giving you the opportunity to ask questions and receive individual guidance as we explore the city.
You'll also receive a PDF guide after the workshop, so you can revisit the techniques and keep practising in your own time.
Private group sessions are available too, making this a great creative activity for friends, couples, birthdays or team-building experiences.
Come and explore Manchester through your lens, build your confidence and discover just how much more there is to see when you slow down and look.

  • 5/5 from Grace Haithwaite, attended Feb 2026: Amazing experience! Priti is such a great teacher, a font of knowledge, brilliant from the get go, really helped me get to grips with shooting in manual mode, building my confidence, thinking like a photographer and exploring composition. Priti answered all my questions with so much patience, I never once felt like there was something I couldn't ask, and I felt encouraged to explore and let my creativity run wild. Also definitely will see Manchester and probably all other cities in a completely different way now. Can't recommend this class enough, whether you're a local or just visiting!
