Snap & Share: Smartphone Photography Workshop in Manchester
Ever wish your phone photos looked a little more like the pictures you see on Instagram?
Join me, Priti, a professional photographer with over 10 years of experience, for a relaxed, hands-on smartphone photography workshop exploring Manchester city centre.
You don't need an expensive camera to take great photos. Your smartphone is capable of much more than you might think, and I'll show you how to get creative with the camera you already carry everywhere.
We'll head out into Manchester, experiment with light and composition, discover interesting angles and perspectives, and explore simple editing techniques to make your photos stand out. It's all practical, with plenty of opportunities to try things out, ask questions and develop your own creative eye.
What you'll learn
  • Get more from your smartphone camera: Discover useful settings and features to help you take better photos.
  • Master composition: Find interesting angles, use leading lines and look at everyday surroundings differently.
  • Work with light: Learn how to make the most of natural light and tackle trickier lighting situations.
  • Explore creative street photography: Capture Manchester's architecture, streets, details and hidden gems.
  • Edit your photos: Learn simple ways to enhance your images using your phone.
  • Build your confidence: Develop practical skills you can use every day, whether you're travelling, sharing on social media or capturing memories.
Who is this workshop for?
Absolutely anyone! Whether you're a complete beginner, someone who loves taking photos on their phone, a keen traveller or a content creator looking to improve your images, you're welcome.
It's also a great experience to enjoy with a friend, partner or family member, or as a thoughtful gift for someone who loves photography.
No previous photography experience is needed, and there's no specialist equipment to buy. Just bring your smartphone and a willingness to experiment.
Learn with a professional photographer
I'm Priti Shikotra, a Manchester-based professional photographer with over 10 years of experience working across music, portraits, events and commercial photography. My work has appeared in publications including *Kerrang!* and *NME*, and I've worked with organisations including the British Museum, Manchester Museum and Factory International.
I've also delivered smartphone photography training for businesses, helping people become more confident in creating better images with their phones.
My teaching style is friendly, conversational and hands-on. This isn't about complicated technical jargon or making everyone take the same photograph. It's about helping you see things differently, discover what your phone can do and find your own style.
A small-group experience
Public workshops are limited to a maximum of four participants, so there's plenty of opportunity to ask questions, practise at your own pace and get individual advice.
Looking to book something for a group? Private workshops can also be a great option for friends, birthdays, creative get-togethers and team-building activities. Get in touch to discuss your group.
Come and see Manchester differently, get creative with your smartphone and leave feeling more confident about the photos you take every day.

Hey, I'm Priti!
I'm a professional photographer based in Manchester, with over 10 years of experience photographing musicians, artists, events and people.
My work has appeared in Kerrang! and NME, and I've worked with organisations including the British Museum, Manchester Museum and Manchester International Festival.
Photography has taken me from intimate music venues to major events, and I love sharing the techniques I've picked up along the way.
I also deliver photography workshops for individuals, groups and businesses, helping people feel more confident behind the camera - including the one they carry in their pocket every day.
My approach is relaxed, friendly and practical. You don't need expensive kit or any previous experience. I'll help you understand how to get more out of your smartphone camera, experiment with different techniques and develop your own creative eye.
