FAQ

Can anyone take part in this class?
Yes! I have welcomed people from all walks of life - some with more or less experience in the crafts and people who have varying abilities and disabilities too. Sometimes people just need a little more help with the fiddly bits and that's fine. I'll help you to do all of the steps that you can yourself, and if you need me to help or do a step for you, based on your own physical abilities, that's absolutely fine.
Is this suitable for children?
The public class is designed for adults (16+) but if you would like me to run a session for younger learners please reach out to me and we can discuss your ideas. As a rule of thumb, 12 years of age and upward would be fine, depending on the child, as we know, they are all very different.
Do you take bookings for hen dos and parties?
Yes! I'd love to run a class for your special occasion. I can travel to you to run a class for 5 people or more - up to 10 people. We'll make your special occasion extra special!

Hi, I'm Wendy! I'm a gold and silversmith from Odiham in Hampshire and I make one of a kind jewellery and teach silversmithing to people just like you!
For me, jewellery is one of the most emotive things in the world. A piece can make you feel confident, beautiful, nostalgic, or deeply loved. We attach our most precious memories to it: engagements, anniversaries, people we've lost, people we adore. That's what drew me in when I first saw silversmiths at work on social media, and I knew immediately I had to learn how to make it myself.
I booked a taster class just before the Covid lockdown, and I was completely hooked. Teaching myself from YouTube videos and beginner kits was a real slog, but it also showed me exactly what it feels like to start from nothing. Eventually I found proper structured courses, and everything accelerated. That experience lives in every class I teach.
But here's what making jewellery adds on top of all those emotions: the pride of having created it yourself. My absolute favourite moment, every single time, is when a student takes their finished piece out of the polishing machine, holds it up, and says "oh wow, I can't believe I made that." That moment is why I do this.
Teaching is in my blood. Both of my parents were teachers, and I spent some years as an English teacher in the Czech Republic. Now I get to bring all of that energy to jewellery, which is my true passion, and there is nothing better than that combination.
I hold three diplomas from the Jewellers' Academy in Silversmithing, Fine Jewellery, and Advanced Jewellery, and I keep my classes small, beginner friendly, and focused on one thing: you leaving with a beautiful, wearable piece of silver that you made with your own hands.
I can't wait to meet you at one of my classes!
