Silver Sea Glass Ring Making Class

Combine the romance of found objects with jewellery making in this fabulous Glasgow craft class! Learn the fundamentals of silversmithing and walk away with your own DIY ring made with sea glass.

Over five hours you will learn how to choose the best sea glass for your design, make a bespoke setting and then create a ring for it all to sit on. You'll then end this jewellery making class by setting the sea glass and finishing it.

Use your own found sea glass or you can choose from some pieces in the workshop. Your resourceful teachers from Vanilla Ink have collected some sea glass from all over the west of Scotland and Banff beach.

If this is your first time giving ring making a go, have no fear! This is a fun and beginner-friendly activity full of top tips and guidance from your supportive teacher. It is fairly labour-intensive, so be ready for a day of concentration. But your amazing teacher will always be on hand to help you at every step, plus it's very creatively satisfying!

You'll then leave this ring making class proud of your handiwork and yourself! All profits from Vanilla Ink's classes are put back into their Social Enterprise Programmes which allow them to help out vulnerable, disadvantaged and/or deserving people by giving them the opportunity that would otherwise not be available to them.

Please note:

• Students must be 16+ years.
• Good eyesight and hand dexterity are a must.

• All equipment and materials needed
• Your own bench with access to all the tools required to make the rings
• An amazing experience plus your beautiful new ring to take home!

• Closed-toe shoes.
• Keep loose-fitting clothing to a minimum.
• Long hair tied up (or bring something to do so).
• If you need glasses to see things close up, please bring them with you. Making jewellery is fiddly!
• If you have your own piece of sea glass that you'd like to set, bring it along and we will see if it's suitable as not every piece is great to use for this (optional).
