This hands-on jewellery workshop in Woking is ideal for those looking to expand their knowledge of using a pendant motor for precision polishing. We’re excited to welcome back Stephen, who will guide students through selecting the correct mops and attachments for their unique designs, and how to approach tricky, hard-to-reach areas that require careful polishing.
Each and every bench at WORKSHOP 925 is equipped with its own Foredom Polishing motor; however, do feel free to bring along your own equipment should you wish to learn the skills on your own machine. Please just let us know in advance so we can make space for your equipment.
Topics covered:
  • Understanding the wide range of tools and accessories compatible with pendant motors.
  • Introduction to coloured silicone drums and 3M Radial Wheels, including their preloaded grits.
  • Evaluating the benefits of each tool and developing techniques to maximise their efficiency.
  • Stephen's 3-Stage Polishing Method: Learn how this method applies to pendant motor use.
  • Use brushes for initial cleaning and smoothing.
  • Calico mop: Used for intermediate polishing to achieve a quality shine.
  • Final polish steps for a flawless finish.
  • Learn how to effectively transfer pendant motor skills to traditional bench polishing setups.
This class will benefit jewellers with some experience who are looking to learn to polish their work to a professional level. Our small classes mean we are able to provide each student with the support they require.

Workshop 925 launched in January 2019 and is based at The Mayford Centre, which is nestled between Guildford and Woking in Surrey.
The workshop was launched by Kirsten Hendrich after several years teaching within adult education facilities, alongside running her own jewellery brand, Kirsten Hendrich Jewellery.
Kirsten often felt frustrated at large class sizes, the lack of specialist equipment, and solid workbenches to allow students to really blossom. So, she began her vision, which was to create the perfect learning environment for jewellers of all levels to come and learn new skills using professional equipment, providing the best chance possible for students to learn the technical and business skills of the trade within small class sizes, enabling plenty of one-to-one tutor support to aid effective learning.
Workshop 925 is also home to an amazing team of tutors who share Kirsten’s passion for jewellery making, craft, and all things handmade. Together they bring you their knowledge, tips, and enthusiasm for the industry in the classes they teach and in the workshop environment.
Our Ethos
We pride ourselves on providing a welcoming environment for our students to come and develop their skills. We understand everyone has different aims and goals; some may come along with an aspiration to develop a jewellery-based business, while others come along to learn a new hobby, escape, and delve into a creative space.
We allow you to explore all areas of jewellery making, from stone setting, press forming, enamelling, fold forming, keum boo, reticulation, granulation, polishing, piercing, soldering, stringing, etching, to there is a lot to learn!
We understand that each and every student who comes through our doors is different, and we will work hard to help you develop following your unique path.
We are self-confessed tool addicts; therefore, you can expect to find a wide range of tools to use for your projects to help you explore new techniques. We never stop developing our workshop to make it the best it could possibly be.
Most of all, you can expect to find a team of bright, happy, enthusiastic tutors there to help you discover jewellery making in an environment that is relaxed, fun, and encouraging, with a shared determination to help you each succeed.
