What you'll do
If you've ever wanted to try your hand at making jewellery but didn't know where to begin, this silver clay jewellery making class is a brilliant choice to treat yourself or the stylish crafter in your life. Silver clay looks and feels like porcelain but when fired it is transformed into 99.99% pure silver.
Hosted in the picturesque Monmouthshire countryside, you'll be led by a local craft expert as you design and make a pendant and a pair of earrings to cherish forever or give as a one-of-a-kind gift.
You'll be guided through every step of the process, beginning with the design before getting hands-on with cutting, texturing, filing, pre-fire sanding, firing, sanding, oxidising, polishing and finishing. You will also add findings and a chain so that your jewellery is ready to wear when you take it away with you, or for the lucky recipient if you're giving it as a gift.
Whether you're looking for a new craft project to sink your teeth into or are fascinated by the process of making your own jewellery, this beginner-friendly class is a brilliant opportunity to learn some new skills and make wonderful memories.
Please note:
- Access to the workshop is via a set of stairs only and we are located on the first floor. Some of the classes/workshops do require some physical work and standing. If you wear reading glasses, please do bring them along.
- If you book a private, one-to-one workshop, it is tailor-made for you and as such, the tasks undertaken and any resulting item made will vary. Therefore, the cost of materials is not included in the workshop price. The teacher will have a stock of silver, gold and gemstones available for purchase at cost. Please get in touch prior to booking for more details.

What you'll get
- All the materials and tools you'll need to make a silver pendant and pair of earrings (or two pieces of your choosing) to bring home with you. (For private bookings, only the tools will be provided, with materials available on the day at cost)
- Plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits to keep you going.
What to bring
This is a full day course so you will need to bring lunch with you. Alternatively, as a workshop attendee, you will get a 10% discount at the on-site cafe where Santa and Mike use local produce to make a fabulous lunch menu.
Your teacher
I have been making jewellery since a young age. Even before studying at Birmingham School of Jewellery, I was stringing homemade clay beads together. It is only in more recent years that I have taken the plunge to start my own business.
From an early age, I have enjoyed learning about folklore and myths and been entertained by the imagination of those creative artists such as Tolkein, CS Lewis and Lewis Carroll - to name the more well known.
I have always believed that perception forms a person's reality and it is lovely to look at the world in different ways.
In 2019 I moved to Wales and through my workshop window, I enjoy watching the wonder of nature through the changing seasons.
So nature, both real and imagined, influences my designs. Not always in my imagined worlds, I am passionate about protecting our environment. This informs my personal choices but also those for my business - I always choose either fair trade or recycled precious metal to work with, as well as ethically sourced gemstones. My packaging is made from recycled products and the boxes are bio-degradable.
