Your friend can enjoy any demonstrations given, and they are free to ask questions, but they will not receive the same practical, direct one-to-one support as is offered to the lead participant.

Keeping everyone safe

At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

This time she showed me how to attach my button hole foot, how to change my needles (as I'm a beginner at 63yrs old). Claire also advised me on material and needles for that as well as working out my measuerments. She explains everything in down to earth terms and that is so important to me because I then get the exact results I want. She is simply fantastic. The store was very neat and tidy, the work station was set up and ready to go. I couldn't be happier. Claire is a credit to your company, pleasant, professional and a real pleasure to learn from. The ladies at the tills were also very nice as always. No complaints at all.

  • 4/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Oct 2024: It was a birthday treat from my daughter as she had bought me a sewing machine a few years ago but I haven’t been able to use it. So the lesson was really helpful and has made me feel comfortable with making a start on using my machine and hopefully I’ll be able to create something over the next few months. I learnt how to attach the bobbin and a few different stitches. It was suggested I should start with cotton as the materiel is easier to use.

  • 5/5 from Mary Rose, attended Feb 2024: I needed tuition on my new sewing machine which I purchased from Hobbycraft. My teacher was most knowledgeable on the computerised sewing machine. She showed me how to use the various attachments, stitches and modes. The class was good value although everyone likes to get value for money, I think a little give away like a simple needle tidy made with scraps of fabric which would take a few minutes for the student to make while getting used to the machine.

  • 5/5 from Jeeva Selvarajah, attended Jun 2023: My teacher was knowledgeable, encouraging and able to talk me through the application of my skill-set to re-ignite an old understanding of stitching and re-introduce confidence in existing abilities. The venue for me was great as it was close to home and spacious and comfortable in it's layout. The materials ie. a cloth version of a worksheet, took you step by step through the learning process and hence provided an ideal pace of learning. I purchased the 1 to 1 workshop during a period where there was a discounted offer and I think it was absolutely great value for money. I learnt top stitching, stopping and starting a stitch, stitching around corners and how to hem a trouser leg. All of which I wanted to learn and all of which will provide me with the best jumping off point to start stitching again. I liked it all and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.
  • 5/5 from Isla-Rose Ellis, attended Jun 2023: The member of staff (Danny) was extremely knowledgeable and explained everything in a very clear and easy to understand way. My daughter left with a big smile because she now feels a lot more confident using her new sewing machine so thank you
