I am a brush and broom maker based in Sheffield. Working with natural materials and traditional techniques, I create objects that are both functional and beautiful - tools that impart a sense of presence. My brushes and brooms are made to be used, yet they also hold their own as sculptural forms, honouring the everyday act of sweeping.
I originally trained in music, playing clarinet, saxophone and piano. But I always felt the pull of making with my hands. I explored a range of crafts, including spoon carving, bowl turning on a traditional pole lathe, and basketry, but broom and brush making is the craft I felt most drawn to.
All of my brushes and brooms are made by me, by hand. I work with sustainable materials including broomcorn, tampico and arenga fibres.
I also teach workshops, which I love - they give me the chance to share my craft and inspire others to explore traditional skills.
In 2022, I was selected as a TOAST New Maker, one of five makers demonstrating excellence in skill, originality and craftsmanship. In 2025, I was chosen as one of The King’s Foundation’s ‘35 Under 35’, a network of makers and changemakers connecting with nature, tradition, and sustainability.
