Toben, from Baile Mor books, was a patient and helpful instructor in the art of bookbinding, especially for a beginner like me. Lunch at the tea room was good. A well-organised and rewarding course.

I really enjoyed the guided tour of the building too. Very enjoyable and informative. The lunch was tasty although the sandwich was huge! I would have preferred a cup of soup, one sandwich and a wee cake.. would highly recommend taking one of Tobans book binding classes. They are all different but this is what I created in this class.n

Venue was ok; great for lunch but the venue admin was a bit “clunky”. Would have been useful to have been able to meet in workshop itself prior to the tour so that we could leave coats, luggage etc before trailing around the tour of the venue (which was very interesting btw).

Hello! I’m a self-proclaimed book nerd. And proud of it. I'm a professional bibliopegist, which means that bookbinding is my pastime, but it’s also my passion and profession.I’m fascinated by the engineering of books and have an almost obsessive desire to learn and understand new structures.I work out of a small studio on the idyllic Scottish island of Iona, (if you’ve never been, I highly recommend it; it is, amongst other things, the birthplace of the Book of Kells) where I’ve lived for ten years now. Iona’s landscape – its natural colours of sand sea and rocks – are a huge inspiration to me.I am an experienced teacher and am excited to share the joys of bookbinding with you.
