Perfect for beginners, this workshop is relaxed and welcoming, giving you the chance to explore traditional matcha and Japanese ceramics while creating something completely unique.
What to expect:
  • Matcha Ritual (50 min): Guided tasting led by Brut Tea, a London-based independent matcha brand. - Experience a range of matcha flavours in traditional usucha style — prepared simply with water, without milk or sugar.
  • Learn about the aroma, texture, and complexity of matcha, with no prior knowledge required.
  • Pottery Experience (60 min): Hands-on Kurinuki tea cup making, a centuries-old Japanese technique where a vessel is carved from a solid block of clay.
  • Embrace the wabi-sabi philosophy of natural texture, imperfection, and form while shaping and carving your own tea cup.
  • Step-by-step guidance provided, suitable for all levels.
  • Techniques covered include hand-building, carving, stamping, and surface finishing.
  • Opportunity to personalise your cup, making it a truly one-of-a-kind piece.
  • Your finished cup will be ready to collect approximately 5 weeks after the workshop.
