Come and join us this November for a crochet workshop where you can make sustainable face cleansing pads. Explore unusual natural yarns and fibres such as silk, bamboo, linen, and nettle to name but a few. Craft practical yet beautiful pads and face cloths that can be used again and again.
This workshop is perfect for anyone who wants to discover the joys of crochet for the first time, as well as for crocheters with some experience. Whatever your skill level you will learn how to make one or more cleansing pads from a range of designs.
The workshop takes place at the fabulous Creative Lab, a safe, inclusive and welcoming space. We invite you to leave the everyday behind and gently unfurl your creativity in a small group setting.
There will be a comprehensive array of tools and materials for you to choose from at the workshop. The different designs, from simple squares to circles and spirals, provide achievable mini-projects for all levels. The session is facilitated by an experienced, qualified teacher, who will guide you through each step at your chosen pace. You will have the opportunity to learn:
basic crochet techniques including slip knots, chain stitch, slip stitch, double and treble crochet, different ways to hold a crochet hook comfortably and confidently, how to crochet in rows and in the round. How to understand and follow a simple written crochet pattern or diagram. Where to source natural unbleached fibres from sustainable sources that can be reused and ultimately composted.
The workshop fee also includes a box of materials containing everything you need to continue making and learning at home: 2 crochet hooks; 3 mini skeins of yarn; a crochet instruction booklet, crochet patterns and access to videos covering the techniques learnt.
By the end of the workshop you'll have created one or more face pads, as well as taking away the skills, tools and materials to progress.
Please note that this is a workshop and not a drop-in session. Out of respect for other participants, it is essential to arrive on time.

Creating space to connect;
We create analogue art experiences that invite people to unplug create, and connect. Using tactile materials, intuitive collaging, and, our special sauce - the satisfying clickety-clack of typewriters. Our touring art workshop is all about slowing down, getting hands-on, and making space for creativity and irl human connection.
Cutting, layering, typing, and experimenting in ways that feel playful and accessible to everyone is what we love to facilitate.
We used to be at one static location but decided to go back to our roots and take the workshops on tour! - As we travel from place to place, the workshop has become a welcoming creative space where community forms through the simple act of making together, passing around materials, swapping stories, and encouraging each other’s work.
At Creative Lab It’s really not about polished outcomes or elite artistic skill, but about presence, expression, and the joy of creating something meaningful by hand, connecting with others and enjoying the sense of well-being that comes from all that in-person, analogue, arty goodness.
