  • 5/5 from Katie Kakouris, attended Apr 2024: I took my 2 children (6 and 8) along to paint some recycled pottery. They were allowed to choose any pieces to paint. They enjoyed having the freedom to help themselves to paint, brushes and clean water. The venue at Spiteafields Market was super cool filled with lots of other people's work around to give them inspiration. A very laid back and enjoyable couple of hours. Thank you we will be back again soon.
  • 5/5 from Kate, attended Mar 2024: We had an unguided pottery painting session but the all staff were very welcoming and kind! The venue was very clean and well laid out with easy access to all the paints and brushes. The atmosphere was very nice and relaxed and having the options to buy a bottle of Prosecco is a fantastic idea! I wasn’t aware it was upcycled pottery which I believe made the experience better! The whole price was £5, we couldn’t believe it, we will definitely be returning again, fantastic experience!
  • 5/5 from Elissa Burns, attended Mar 2024: Very fun atmosphere on a Thursday evening! Staff were incredibly helpful, I will definitely be back

  • 3/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Mar 2024: This session was okay, we had to do everything ourselves which was fine but the environment was a bit grubby and loud. There was a bit of banging on the tables which made it hard to paint. The pots we were given looked like air dry clay and one of the other girls pots broke as she was painting it. So I think it could gave been made clearer that it was air dry clay with acrylic paints and no glaze, with little option to glaze afterwards. We just had to wait for our pots to dry and carry them home in paper bags. Having said all that, it was a £5 class so couldn't expect too much. But maybe in future they could make sure the paintbrushes weren't all hard and dirty and that the pots were of sufficient quality. So you know what you're getting yourself into. Even if we paid a bit more, I would so that it could go back into the space and utensils/paint.
  • 5/5 from Lucy, attended Feb 2024: Lovely and affordable activity to do with my 5 year old. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend

  • 4/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Feb 2024: It was a lovely chilled venue that was easy to locate in the market. We were greeted warmly and given instructions. I completely understand it’s self led but would have been nice if we had some more information. Also, the range of pottery to up-cycle was really limited and the space to complete quickly became cramped.

She also helped (I think her name was liv) decide who did the best painting out of me and my partner. It was a really nice independent free flow class where we could do what we liked

  • 5/5 from Lizette Tidball, attended May 2023: Lady who was running it was soooooo nice and really kind to my children! We did the pottery painting which is such good value in a great location. Will definitely be coming back.
  • 5/5 from Lorena Ortega, attended May 2023: The session I took did not have a teacher and I really like having that opportunity to just go and paint somewhere and have good materials. The classroom is pretty and the person in charge is really nice. I would definitely recommend to check it out and I know there is many different things you can learn there.
  • 5/5 from Anisa Hassan, attended May 2023: It was really fun and therapeutic. Would love to do more of it for sure.
  • 5/5 from Anna Trichkine, attended May 2023: It was such a cool venue and great to spend the time just exploring painting and having a coffee surrounded by so much art!
  • 5/5 from Ali Dawn, attended Apr 2023: Was so lovely to just spend some time painting and relaxing. I did an un-tutored session but there was still people there to ask a few questions. Lovely atmosphere. Got chatting to other people too.
  • 4/5 from Daniel McNelly, attended Apr 2023: Great value for money, lots of equipment and nice location. Our class was at 3pm and no-one was there by 3:15 so we went away initially but we returned at 3:45pm and were given the extra time :)

Art Play London was founded by Silva Castellani in 2018, starting in galleries such as Phillips, and pop up venues around London.
Art Play is now a new art studio which opened in East London in February 2022, where children and adults of all ages are free to release their imaginations and inner creativity.
Art Play has a strong focus and the environment and aims to educate children and adults on their environmental impact through art, using a variety of sustainable mediums and materials.
Art Play is part of the worldwide Precious Plastic community which means it will be a plastic collection point for people to drop off their HDPE plastic which would otherwise end up in landfills or the ocean. The plastic is then shredding and melted and turned into useful objects and pieces of art, such as plant pots and coasters.
