Pottery Class: Clay Hand Building

Looking for fun things to do in Hertfordshire? Come and discover a new hobby with this pottery making class in Hitchin!Learn from a friendly ceramicist in a fully-equipped garden studio (just half an hour away from London) how to make and create your own pottery pieces!Small groups may be joined by others in the class and we can offer private classes for larger groups or for small groups for an additional price.With this pottery workshop, you will make and decorate unique creative objects such as pots, dishes, plaques, sculptures and more. Don't worry if you're new to pottery, your friendly teacher will be with you every step of the way and will let you in on all their top tips and hand-building techniques. You will have the option to use white clay and then paint what you make using a huge selection of beautiful glazes. Alternatively, you can choose to use air drying clay which will not need to be fired and can then be taken away with you on the day.At the end of this pottery making class, you'll have your clay creations to keep and some newfound hand-building skills! You will also have the option to add on some wet, messy fun on the potter's wheel as part of your session (please let your teacher know in advance of the session if this is something you are interested in). • Aprons are provided.
• You can choose to use air-dry clay and take your creations away that day (you can paint air-dry clay at home with acrylic paints) or use white clay and paint your pieces during the workshop (these will then need to be fired and glazed, and then picked up at a later date) — the choice is yours!

Please note: air-dry clay dries hard and can only be used as decorative items, whereas white clay can be used as functional pottery pieces. Read more details
