What you'll do
Take your sketchbook outside and learn to see trees the way Leonardo da Vinci did.In this guided plein air drawing workshop in Manchester, local landscape artist and teacher Lelanie Slater introduces you to da Vinci's approach to drawing trees – a fascinating method that trains your eye to understand the natural structure and rhythm of branches rather than simply copying what you see. Together, you'll explore the beautiful trees of Didsbury's parks, learning how to observe, simplify, and capture their character on paper with confidence. It's a wonderful way to deepen your drawing skills in a relaxed outdoor setting, and all materials are provided so you just need to show up ready to look and draw. Suitable for GCSE level and above, as well as any adult who wants to develop their technique in the fresh air.The location will be confirmed 48 hours before the workshop depending on the weather:
- Marie Louise Gardens – for its beautiful, characterful trees
- Didsbury Park – if a little shelter is needed
