David Partington is a ceramic artist and educator. He is interested in the historic and universal appeal of clay as a common material with creative, utilitarian and industrial applications.
He produces high-fired stoneware pottery thrown on the wheel, mainly commissioned for restaurants and retail -- his clients include James Martin, John Lewis and The White Company. David is inspired by the country potters of 18th and 19th century who produced pots that were unpretentious, useful and beautiful.
David has worked in creative education for over 20 years, engaging diverse communities with the practice of clay. A recent commission, Islington Mill: Place in the Community (funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund) engaged local audiences with the fabric of Salford's textile industry, through the industrial heritage and social narrative of the area. He regularly works in primary schools and recently appeared on Show Me How, for Milkshake!, an educational programming slot for Channel 5.
He has exhibited nationally and internationally, with many pieces held in private collections around the world. His studio is based at Islington Mill, Salford.

Sooo much fun Dave was GREAT not worked with clay since primary school and yet Dave made it so easy to understand and relaxing. If you’re on the fence about booking… do it You won’t regret it.

Loved the class. Dave explained the process clearly and was very supportive. He encouraged us to think of it as a meditation and the process was very relaxing. Looking forward to seeing the cup as a finished article.

This pottery class was absolutely fantastic.
Dave was very knowledgeable, helpful and guided us through the techniques of pottery. I can't believe how great our pottery turned out considering we were beginners.
Dave was also very helpful with regards to booking enquiries and sent us location details.
Lovely experience and the lesson was just for the parties in my booking which was perfect and enabled us to be put at ease.
Will definitely book another class with Partington Pots!

Well where do I begin what an absolutely amazing time we had I visited with my partner and have to say it was absolutely amazing. The private class was both interesting and fun at the same time. The teacher was amazing, a genuinely lovely guy who made us feel at ease and relaxed. We would definitely recommend and most definitely do it all over again, value for money was excellent couldn't fault anything about it.

A intimate and calm environment, with a Patient and calm instructor, Dave.
Really enjoyable session, got to make a number of mugs in the time, being able to pick the best to put a handle on keep.
Really great and will definitely be booking something else!

It was a brilliant class. We were three friends attending this private class. We had so much fun making our mugs. All materials were provided including the aprons. Couldn’t recommend this enough, what initially seemed daunting turned out to be a really enjoyable experience. Dave is a class act and had us spinning half decent mugs pretty much straight away. Dave is a great laugh and couldn’t be more accommodating.
I booked this as a surprise date and it went down a treat, 10/10 would definitely do it again.

We've just had an absolute ball.
What a great thing to do. My Husband and I would live to donit all again. Dave is a great teacher, up for a laugh, even when we where covered in clay hand prints.
Let's hope our cups survive they'll be sent out to us in a few weeks. Ready for a Christmas cuppa (hopefully).
