What you'll do
Join a Hobbycraft Artisan one-to-one and ask any questions you have about your sewing machine! Need help setting up your new machine? Want to learn about how to use certain tools and accessories? Getting stuck on a certain technique? Our craft expert will share tips and advice tailored to you.
This is suitable for beginners looking to get started in sewing, providing the opportunity to get all the answers you need. It’s a great way to get a feel for your sewing machine, troubleshoot any problems you’re having with your current project in an easy, direct way or learn about features you’re not as confident with yet.
During the booking process, you’ll have the opportunity to let your Artisan know what you would like to focus on during the session. They’ll be able to prepare for a personalised workshop that answers all of your questions.
You’re sure to walk away a sewing pro, ready to take your designs to a new level!
*Children 12 years and over can book onto this workshop but please note all children under the age of 16 will need parental/guardian supervision for the duration of the workshop.

This was a Christmas present from my daughter. I am completely new to sewing. This lesson was amazing. The lady, Steph was very friendly and encouraging throughout the hour. She explained all the features of the machine, demonstrated threading the needle, went through some do's and don'ts and carried out some sewing techniques. Steph also introduced me to the hobbycraft website for useful tutorials and another useful resource. I am looking forward to trying out the basics we went through and hopefully will book another lesson in the New year to move on to the next steps. 10/10. Keep up the online learning.

I booked the workshop for my 13 year old daughter who was wanting some help to get started with using her sewing machine. We were initially booked for a face-to-face workshop but decided to do this online due to covid. Stephie, who was running the workshop was great and gave us lots of hints and tips. I truly recommend the workshop. Doing the workshop online had the added benefit of using our own sewing machine.

I really enjoyed my one hour one-to-one sewing class with Beth at the Telford store today. She was very informative and helped me with free motion embroidery as I am a beginner. Beth gave me encouragement and demonstrated how to do the embroidery with her machine and I was able to copy using my own machine which I found very useful. She gave me good tips and starting points and would definitely book another lesson should I need help with other aspects of using my sewing machine. This class is excellent value and I highly recommend it.

When I booked I was under the impression that it would be in store as they had started again. So a bit disappointed it was online.
Cody was clearly knowledgeable about machines. However I would have preferred to be able to be talked through a small project and have advice as I went along.
Also the lesson was cut short, I felt Cody had had enough after 40 mins. Having saying that he was very good at using the IT with different camera angles etc and it was refreshing to see a youngster enthusiastic about sewing.

I am still a novice. I did this class to make a protege model for cushions ( without the zip one)
I managed to make most of the protege model. So I am pleased I managed that alone.
The teacher did go through via switching camera position.
Explaining using materials and importantly correct measurements and corrected my measurements, as l nearly made a mistake.
The learned a few things about my machine, which the teacher demonstrated on the camera. How to use the lines under my needle to sew the hem size for example.
Quite informative, quite a bit packed into the session. I also managed to look at a Roman blind demonstration with a video session attached for me to look at later
I will probably book again for further sewing courses.
