One-to-one Crochet Workshop

Join a Hobbycraft Colleague in store for a one-to-one and ask any questions you have about Crochet

1 hour Class size 1 on 1       £28

Join a Hobbycraft Colleague in store for a One-to-one and ask any questions you have about crochet. Stuck on a project? Need help with understanding a pattern? Trying to get to grips with a new stitch? Our craft expert will share tips and techniques tailored to you.

This is suitable for crocheters looking for that next step on from our Beginners' Workshops, providing the opportunity to get all the answers you need. It’s a great way to gain confidence with your craft, troubleshoot any problems you’re having with your current project in an easy, direct way or learn about stitches you’re not as confident with yet.

During the booking process, you’ll have the opportunity to let your Artisan know what you would like to focus on during the session. They’ll be able to prepare for a personalised workshop that answers all of your questions.

You’re sure to walk away a crochet pro, ready to take your designs to a new level!

Bring a friend: You can now use the £5 add-on feature at checkout to invite a friend along with you, whether you’re working on a project together or you’d simply prefer having some company during the session. Your friend can enjoy any demonstrations given, and they are free to ask questions, but they will not receive the same practical, direct one-to-one support as is offered to the lead participant.

Keeping everyone safe

At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

  • 5/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Jan 2026: Bought for my mum for a Christmas present as she wanted to learn to crochet. It was a One to one with Gemma in Bedford - my mum really enjoyed it. Gemma was friendly and helpful. Showed my mum all the basic stitches she needs. Would definitely recommend Thank you!
  • 5/5 from Anuradha Narayanan, attended Dec 2025: I have never done any crochet. This is my first ever class with Gemma. My teacher Gemma is very supportive, very calm and extremely patient. She helped me to understand basic knots and chains.Iam very glad that I learnt the basics from Gemma.Thank you Gemma for teaching me a new skill.
  • 4/5 from Sufiya Ahmed, attended Dec 2025: Despite getting email reminders for the workshop, my daughter and I arrived a little bit earlier for our one to one crochet class. As I queued up to make aware to the worker behind the checkouts that we had a workshop booked in. He checked on the system only to come and tell us that we will be starting an hour later. I was actually really disappointed and found it really unprofessional that the store had not been prepared for our booked session. My daughter - who I booked the workshop for as part of her birthday gift- was upset and I had to reassure we could carry on but an hour later. Once we did return after an hour or so, the Teacher, Olivia- was kind, friendly and an optimistic person. I could tell my daughter was happy and comfortable with her. What's more, Olivia was very knowledgeable and guided my daughter the necessary techniques and skills to learn how to Crochet.

  • 5/5 from Sue Hammond, attended Oct 2025: Excellent experience. Gemma has the gift of making people like me feel comfortable & that we can achieve what feels like unachievable!!
  • 5/5 from Mrs Susan Hammond, attended Oct 2025: Excellent tutor! Friendly, kind and encouraging giving me the confidence to do more learning. Thank you, Gemma!!! Sue
  • 5/5 from Amy Maddison, attended Mar 2025: Brilliant one to one workshop to learn how to crochet a granny square, lovely teacher, I really enjoyed it! Thank you.
  • 5/5 from Bella Sewell, attended Oct 2024: Gemma was lovely, I took my 9 year old daughter and she said to me afterwards that Gemma “explained things really well”. She was patient and knew a lot about crochet. Really pleased with the whole experience.
  • 5/5 from Susan, attended Oct 2024: I had a one to one session today with a tutor who was kind, patient, approachable & talented. The venue was fine. I was shown how to cast on with crochet, double & treble stitching. Will concentrate on double stitching given I make items for babies/toddlers/children in need e.g. those in hospital. I also make things for older people with dementia for whom a knitted/crocheted animal/doll/scarf/neck warmer/fiddle muffs etc etc can make a life changing difference. My daughter works on an adult hospital ward. We have so much evidence of the difference something so simple can make such a difference. All my daughter and I make is donated. So thank you so much - all of you at Hobbycraft - but particularly those in my local store
  • 5/5 from Mary Armitage, attended Jul 2024: I arranged the crochet 1-1 session as a form of self-care. I had tried learning to crochet during Covid mostly via YouTube but had only been getting more confused. Olivia was excellent; she was kind, patient and insightful. She was both hands on when I needed to see the stitches being demonstrated but very encouraging for me to try doing what she'd shown me. Olivia very much met me at the very basic place I am at and was able to modify her teaching and instructions to my needs and ability. I learnt to modify correctly the techniques I had been using and how to rectify areas with which I had been struggling. Class was easy to arrange, it was in a quiet and suitable surrounding and good value for money. I liked best that despite my lack of technical ability and with not the same knowledge of crochet jargon I went home feeling energised to continue to learn to crochet and with plans as to what next.
  • 5/5 from Maisie McMurdy, attended Jul 2024: Such a great lesson for my daughter to learn how to crochet. Total beginner but by the end of the hour she had learnt so much. The teacher was patient, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Thank you Hobbycraft, what a fab way to learn a new craft!
  • 5/5 from Liliana Ferrari, attended Oct 2023: The workshop was fantastic. Olivia was very patient, engaging and most of all she know her stuff My daughter and I loved it.
  • 5/5 from Cheryl Sokel, attended May 2023: It was easy to book a One-to-One Knitting Workshop with Koby (or Kody) in Bedford through their website. I had knitted 2 jumpers and 1 cardigan that I wanted to know the best way to sew them up. She showed me how to use a crochet needle to make a flat seam. so much neater and a more professional finish. She also showed me how to do blanket stitch over the change of colour yarn. Soon I will actually be able to wear them. Highly recommend the Workshop. Thank you Hobbycraft for this facility.
