Hello my name is Lindsey Benson founder of Mount Cottage Crafts, I organise and run craft workshops in the lovely market town of Thornbury, South Gloucestershire near Bristol.

The workshops are held in 'The Chantry', in the centre of Thornbury, a great practical setting to discover and develop your crafting skills.

Launched in 2018 we plan to offer a wide range of affordable craft workshops.

I hold a long-held passion for crafting, with a background in art & design and architecture.

We had a great time. The teacher was knowledgeable, well organised and made made candle making easy. I made 3 great candles. We were near the town of Thornbury so it was easy to get lunch before the workshop. Free parking at the location was an added bonus.

The candle making was a great activity, super fun and I really enjoyed learning about candles and how to make them safely and effectively. It was lovely to be able to do this with my husband too who also enjoyed it.

The venue was easy to get to from central Bristol and everything was provided that we needed. It was an intimate group of 8 including us which was exactly the right number of people. The scents and dried flowers / leaves available on offer to use to decorate and fragrance our candles were a great selection and super lovely.

Lindsey, our teacher was really nice and everything was explained well so the instructions were easy to follow, the flowers and leaves I chose are looking lovely in my cream candle. I am really happy with the overall result and I can't wait to light my candles

We booked this candle making workshop with Lindsay for my sisters hen party and we couldn’t have been happier.

Lindsay herself is friendly and was very patient with a room of amateurs , explaining all steps clearly and teaching us a lot about the considerations when making and purchasing candles generally.
The workshop itself was super fun and we were all delighted with the 3, yes 3, candles we made and took away
Lindsay provided tea, coffee and a yummy selection of chocolate/ biscuits.

Finally, the venue itself was spacious and had good facilities including parking and baby changing facilities.

Overall, we would highly recommend this workshop.

Really enjoyed the afternoon- Lindsey’s instructions were clear and patient and we had fun, too. The equipment was all laid out well and we all made really lovely items in 2.5 hours. Great venue- easy parking.

Great time with Lindsay, learning candle making. We ended up making 3 candles. My favorite one - upcycling project, when we transformed old cups into candle. Lots of lovely smells, friendly environment, straight forward instructions. Highly recommend

Loved the workshop, it was a lovely fun weekend activity and interesting - the teacher was informative about the products we were using, and it was all really clear and well taught! Great value for money too and we made some lovely products with a good range of personalisation, I didn’t realise we’d be decorating a candle and there were some lovely materials provided. Loved the recycled containers too!

The teacher Lindsey was great, very knowlegable and made everyone feel welcome. The venue was good, lots of refreshments and car parking. Really enjoyed my morning and came away with three lovely candles. Would definately recommend to anyone wanting to learn how to make container candles.

What a lovely relaxed afternoon learning how to make soy candles from Lindsey who was so willing to share her wide knowledge & answer our questions. Her instructions & explanations were clearly presented & easy to follow. All the equipment was provided & what an amazing choice of fragrance oils, natural materials & wax dyes we had available. I am so pleased with my 3 candles & will definitely be making more. The venue was ideal. Thank you very much.

Really easy to find, parking on site Drinks & biscuits provided.
Teacher was very helpful and great at explain and answering all questions I did have. Plenty of choice of fragrance. Made 3 candles using 3 different containers

We learned how to make candles using soy and fragrance oils. The instructions were clear and suited to someone who had never done candlemaking. Lindsey was very well suited to teaching the subject. All the materials were available and everything was well presented. At the end of the course we could take the candles home and encouraged to have a try at pursuing this as a hobby.

As it’s the first one i had been on, I’ve nothing to compare it with, but class was a nice size and Lindsey was very knowledgeable and a nice person. Has loads of stuff to choose from to make your own candies to take away. Yes, good value for money and an enjoyable afternoon doing something completely different to the day job
