Modern Kintsugi Experience - Transform Pottery

Learn Kintsugi in a hands-on workshop, transforming broken ceramics into meaningful art!

2 hours Class size 1 to 7 guests       £67

Discover the beauty of Kintsugi in our engaging, hands-on workshop. Originating in Japan, Kintsugi means “golden joinery” and involves repairing broken ceramics with lacquer and precious metals, transforming cracks into distinctive lines of shimmering elegance. This art form celebrates imperfections as part of an object’s history, encouraging us to embrace flaws and see them as opportunities for growth and creativity.
In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn to restore ceramics using accessible, modern materials without compromising the essence of the tradition. Our expert instructor will guide you through each step—from preparing the surfaces, mixing epoxy with bronze powder, and bonding the shards, to refining the final golden seams. Along the way, you’ll gain an understanding of Wabi-Sabi principles, which emphasise beauty in the imperfect and impermanent.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have your own completed Kintsugi piece to take home, an object that symbolises resilience, transformation, and personal meaning. Beyond learning valuable skills, you’ll also gain a fresh perspective on life’s imperfections and learn to appreciate the journey each creation undergoes.
Whether you’re an art enthusiast, a maker, or simply curious about new crafting techniques, this Kintsugi workshop offers a memorable, enriching experience that goes beyond traditional art forms. Come join us, embrace the broken, and find beauty in the unexpected.
