She then explained what we had to do step by step. It was a lovely relaxed morning, with a great result at the end, with all our bowls repaired using the kintsugi method. I would definitely recommend this class with Andri and her companion, who’s name I can’t remember (sorry)

The Kintsugi experience was enlightening regarding its history and the activity was very achievable and satisfying in the 2hr workshop. There were 10 students, all equipment was provided and the atmosphere was calm and welcoming. It was a very enjoyable morning and a great starting point for the art form.

We arrived to be greeted warmly by both Andri and Yula who then expertly guided us through the many stages of creating our own Kintsugi bowls. We learned a lot and laughed a lot … No doubt aided by a glass of Prosecco! It was a lovely experience and to take home the finished bowl is very satisfying. I certainly recommend for anyone, whether you think you’re “crafty” or not!

Andri runs Sussex Kintsugi Arts & Crafts, where she shares Modern Kintsugi as a gentle, hands-on way to slow down and unwind. Her workshops are about taking a pause from everyday life, enjoying time with friends or loved ones, and turning broken ceramics into decorative pieces with character and meaning.
She is a trained ceramics conservator with a master’s degree in Conservation Studies and many years of experience working with ceramics, glass and decorative surfaces for UK museums, private clients and the antique trade. Andri also teaches at West Dean College as a Visiting Lecturer.
Her classes are calm, friendly and welcoming to complete beginners. Andri guides everyone step by step, with plenty of time to chat, ask questions and enjoy the process. Guests leave not only with a beautiful piece, but with a sense of having done something thoughtful and restorative for themselves.
