Learn how to create your own custom rug at this fun, all-day tufting class in Manchester!
This 6-hour rugmaking workshop will teach you all you need to know about tufting and is sure to inspire confidence in your abilities to make beautiful objects.
Connect with an experienced teacher and spend the day making a one-of-a-kind 60x60cm rug with a design of your choice. You'll arrive to your design on the canvas, with all the materials and equipment included, so you get a sleek template to tuft into using up to six vibrant yarn colours.
Whether you're new to the world of textile art or you're looking to expand into exciting new mediums, this hands-on workshop is a must-try for any skill level. You can bring along a friend or partner to discover new DIY projects to enjoy together — rug tufting is one of the best experience gifts for creatives!
At the end of this fun exploration into the world of tufting, you'll have your beautiful bespoke rug ready to take home and a unique skill you can continue developing in your own time.
Please note:
  • You must be at least 14 years of age to attend this class.
  • Please send your design ideas up to three days before your workshop to allow for preparation. You can choose to freehand on the canvas, but please request this option with your teacher.
  • There are 100 yarn colours to choose from, but your specific colour ideals might not be available due to yarn batches and limitations.

Manchester Tufting Workshops was established in 2020, with the goal of publicly teaching the fascinating art of rug tufting. At the time, the only way to learn tufting from someone knowledgeable was through a university setting. I wanted to create a more accessible way of learning, open to everyone at any skill level. It was important to me to foster the right atmosphere to inspire creativity and confidence.
I have 10 years of experience with electric and pneumatic tufting equipment, and my wonderful assistant has 6 years of experience. You'll be welcomed into my bright art studio in Salford, where I create my own artwork & display many colourful treasures!
