I’m Alex, a leathersmith and the maker behind Handmade By Alex. I run small, hands-on leathercraft workshops from my studio in Makers Quarter, Salford, with a maximum of four people per group so every student gets real time with me.Before going out on my own, I was a Senior Sales Advisor and Social Media/Marketing Manager for Tandy Leather across the UK, Spain and Australia, so I’ve spent years helping people choose leather, learn the tools and finish projects they’re proud of. I’ve also worked with leather and laser engraving for eight years, and I’ve authored a beginner’s guide to setting copper rivets for Abbey England, and been on stage at the UK's largest makers event, Makers Central, for the last five consecutive years, delivering talks and demonstrations.I change how I teach to match how you learn: I demonstrate, I explain why it works, you try it, and I correct as you go. You don’t need any experience, and you leave with something you made yourself. I also share leatherwork tutorials on the Handmade By Alex YouTube channel.
