  • 5/5 from Salma Hashmi, attended Dec 2025: The leaders were just so nice, helpful and friendly. Couldn't have asked for a better event
  • 5/5 from Thaley Clough, attended Dec 2025: My best friend and I really enjoyed the class. We had loads helpful instructions from the teacher whilst also giving us time to learn and be creative. The resources were plentiful and varied enough to meet individual taste. Thank you
  • 5/5 from Gabriel Kane, attended Dec 2025: I had such a great time at the wreath making workshop! The team were super friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The foliage had been picked that day and it smelt amazing and fresh. Embellishments were lovely and we were showed how to arrange them for the max luxury aestehtic, but with a huge stress on relaxing, taking things slow and making things in your own personal style, so no pressure. As an ADHD man and neurodiverse learner, I’ve always been left behind in classes that only teach one way. Here they gave verbal, visual and written instructions which made everything so clear and stress free. I felt properly included and able to enjoy the whole creative process. For an inclusive art or craft class or a wreath workshop in Manchester that’s supportive and fun, I’d definitely recommend Creative Society I’ll be bookin.g again with friends.
  • 4/5 from Miriam Ronzoni, attended Dec 2025: Expo Lounge is a pretty venue, all the ladies running the event very nice, the materials they brought were really high quality, plentiful and varied, and they taught some very clever basic tricks. We were all very pleased with our final results. However I can’t quite give a 5 stars review due a couple of things. We didn’t have a room to ourselves, we were in the main large room with all the restaurant customers, and it was very difficult to hear the teacher. The class description mentioned hot drinks and festive treats but we were offered nothing. And finally we would have appreciated a slightly more hands on approach: we were told the basic tricks at the beginning (all very useful) but then were basically left to our own devices. A few more tips ideas variations suggestions etc. wiuld have been nice. Oh and a bit more contrast foliage maybe? Overall would do it again but would also lfirst shop around for a more focused experience, and I would suggest not to say that there will be refreshments if there aren’t any. Still a great night!
  • 3/5 from Jennifer Brown, attended Dec 2025: Very loud venue so couldn't really hear much of the instructions. Tables were not big enough to spread out so felt very cramped. Teachers were ok and helpful one to one.. But initial instructions were not the best.
  • 3/5 from Sarah Henry, attended Dec 2024: The class setting was lovely and the teacher very pleasant but I wouldn't really call this luxury wreath making. The materials were cheap and foliage not great. There wasn't a whole lot of direction on techniques or ideas for ways in which to create a 'luxury' wreath either. In the end, the wreath I created was OK but I have seen much nicer examples in other wreath making workshops for a few quid more.
  • 5/5 from Amy, attended Dec 2023: Great class, thoroughly enjoyed making my wreath. Teacher was excellent, clear with instructions on how to and just very friendly and supportive to everyone. Would definitely recommend anyone to book on as a lovely festive event to do.
  • 5/5 from Andrew Eadsforth, attended Nov 2023: Great event with Sumayyah. She made it fun and enjoyable and came out to our venue which was great Her mum even came along to help with the organisation! Thank you.

Welcome to The Creative Society Manchester
Award-winning creative workshops, cultural experiences and seriously good events across Manchester!
The Creative Society Manchester was created with a simple idea:
Creativity should be for everyone.
Since then, we’ve welcomed thousands of people through our doors and delivered over 300 workshops and events, from intimate weekend art classes to large-scale cultural events, heritage workshops, private parties and creative experiences for some of the UK’s best-known organisations.
And you absolutely do not need to be an artist to join us.
Our workshops are relaxed, social and genuinely beginner-friendly. Come alone, bring a friend, plan a date or gather the whole group. We’ll give you the materials, teach you the techniques and help you create something you’re actually excited to take home.
A little different from your average art class:
One week you might be repairing pottery with gold in our Kintsugi workshop.
The next you could be learning medieval manuscript illumination, painting, exploring Islamic geometry and calligraphy or joining us for one of our bookish and cultural events.
We love traditional crafts, beautiful materials, fascinating histories and finding ways to make them accessible to modern audiences.
Many of our cultural and heritage workshops begin with an introduction to the history and meaning behind the art form, so you’re not simply making something. You’re discovering the story behind it too.
We also run creative socials, literary events, costume parties, murder mysteries, quizzes and themed evenings.
Basically, if it sounds creative, interesting or slightly unusual, we’re probably interested!
Meet Sumayyah
The Creative Society was founded by Sumayyah, an award-winning Manchester artist, creative facilitator and mindfulness instructor with a background in psychology and art psychology.
Her work spans contemporary art, traditional and heritage crafts, cultural programming and creative well-being.
Sumayyah has designed and delivered creative experiences for universities, cultural institutions, community organisations and major businesses, as well as hundreds of public workshops across Manchester, the UK and internationally.
At the heart of her practice is the belief that creative spaces should feel welcoming.
No judgement. No expectation that you already know what you're doing. No pressure to make something perfect.
Just good teaching, interesting people and the chance to make something.
Everyone is welcome
We know walking into a workshop alone can feel intimidating.
That’s why inclusion has always been central to The Creative Society.
Our sessions are designed to be welcoming to complete beginners, solo guests, experienced creatives and people who may not always feel comfortable in traditional art spaces.
We want you to be able to arrive exactly as you are, settle in and enjoy creating.
Find us across Manchester
Our workshops pop up in brilliant venues across the city, with regular sessions in Didsbury and collaborations with cultural organisations, universities, businesses and other Manchester spaces.
You’ll find everything from relaxed two-hour workshops to half-day masterclasses, private events, corporate experiences and wonderfully over-the-top themed nights.
Come for the art. Come for the history. Come because you need to get out of the house and do something completely different.
We’ll take care of the rest.
The Creative Society Manchester
Award-winning. Independent. Manchester made.
We hope to see you at a workshop soon.
