2.5 hours Class size 10 to 16     label £150

Our live distilling event is a rare opportunity to take part in actually distilling gin. At the end of the event, all attendees receive a miniature (50ml) bottle of Sky Wave Gin that they have helped to distill. We'll begin by introducing you to our small still, ‘Tilly’, and distill gin with you and for you, in front of your very eyes. You help to prepare the botanicals and the still, under the guidance of our licensed Master Distiller.

The event lasts for about two and a half hours in total. It starts with an introduction to us, then a very quick overview of what distilling is (so that you understand what you’re doing and why) before we start the process. We then invite you to help to prepare the botanicals and the still, under the guidance of our Master Distiller.

Once the still is running, we go into a little more detail about gin, its history and the different ways that gin is produced. We also tell you a little of the Sky Wave Gin story and how and why we started making gin, followed by a tasting of our various gins. We then have part one of the cocktail making masterclass.

We introduce you to a gin cocktail you might not have tried, and, working in pairs, you'll channel your inner mixologist as you shake up your first cocktail. Once everyone has their sippable sensationa in hand, we host a fun quiz on gin and cocktails, to test your knowledge. The quiz is relatively easy, with multiple choice and 50:50 questions. This is often done in teams and there is a small prize for the winners.

It'll then be time to mix up your second cocktail, still working in your pairs. After delivering the quiz answers and prize, the still run will be coming to a close. We show how we cut the distillate to make the finished gin, and invite you to help bottle and label your miniature bottles.

Our events are fabulous for small to medium sized groups of people looking for something a little different; we have delivered highly successful corporate events, birthday and Christmas parties, hen parties and more.

“We couldn’t find the perfect gin – so we made it” -- Founders Rachel Hicks and Andy Parsons.

Our founders have been life-long gin drinkers, seeking out unusual and flavourful gins; they had always been mere consumers however, never thinking about distilling their own. But they couldn’t ever find that perfect gin for their taste – the one that just ticked every box.

Their inspiration hit them when they were by the sea on their wedding anniversary. They blazed home with the idea of creating the perfect gin for them, and immediately set to work. Rachel was driven by the idea of creating a genuine craft gin, with flavours inspired by their lives and experiences.

Both Rachel and Andy have lived lives full of adventure. Their epic journeys through mountain, sky, desert and sea inspire the flavour profiles of our outstanding gins. Some of the botanicals we use reflect these far-away, exotic places that they have travelled; the name ‘Sky Wave’ is a fusion of the big skies and big waves that have characterised their adventures. But there is another wonderful link to our founders in the name. ‘Sky Wave’ is also a term used in radio; in their former lives, Rachel was a BBC radio reporter and Andy was a Royal Signals Army Officer.
