Your teacher
My name is Simon, and I'm an artist based at Islington Mill in the city of Salford.I've been taking photographs for all of my career, and have worked for magazines such as Elle, GQ, Der Spiegel and The Saturday Telegraph Magazine. I've also exhibited in the UK, France, Germany, Hong Kong and China. My work has been featured internationally.In recent years I've been the creative director of Not Quite Light, a project I begain in early 2015. With this project I explore the places we exist in the half-light of dawn and dusk, following themes of transition and regeneration. The project is also a festival in the city of Salford, which involves working with lots other artists and creative people. Recently I've been using film and field recordings in my work, and have made two documentary films. I often give talks and conduct twilight photowalks. I've been a visiting lecturer at several colleges, and one of my proudest achievements in my career was in getting students into the colleges they wished to attend, and then go on to have successful careers in photography.
