Your kimchi, ready to take home

Your Kimchi, Ready to Take Home

Every student leaves with a sealed jar of kimchi they made from scratch. Fresh, vibrant, and ready to ferment on your kitchen counter — this is the moment the class is building towards.

Hands-on from the very first minute

Hands-on from the Very First Minute

No watching from the sidelines — you're in the bowl from the start. Working the gochugaru paste into every leaf is the most satisfying part of the class, and the moment it starts to feel like real Korean cooking.

A warm, welcoming studio space in Altrincham with natural light, cosy atmosphere and everything set up ready for you.

Join this hands-on kimchi-making workshop in Altrincham and discover the vibrant, authentic taste of Korean family life.
Kimchi is so much more than just a recipe – it's a comforting staple made together and shared generously at every single meal. In this fun and low-pressure session, you'll learn to craft traditional baechu kimchi (napa cabbage kimchi) completely from scratch. This experience is beautifully tailored for first-timers, so you don't need any prior cooking experience to join in. Whether you're a food lover, a K-drama fan, or you've simply bought kimchi from a supermarket and wondered how it's actually crafted, you'll find a warm, welcoming space to learn.
Your expert teacher, a native Korean with a lifetime of family making experience, will guide you through the science and culture behind this iconic dish. This isn't a dry recipe demonstration; it's an interactive experience where you'll taste properly matured kimchi alongside a fresh batch to see how the flavours wonderfully develop. You'll also learn three fantastic ways to cook with it at home beyond eating it straight.
Here's what you'll cover together:
  • The history and culture of kimchi
  • Every ingredient explained
  • Making the paste, massaging the cabbage, and packing the jar
  • The fermentation process
  • Three ways to cook with kimchi
By the end of the session, you'll have experienced a delightful kitchen breakthrough, leaving you with the skills and confidence to manage your own fermentation loops. You'll head home with your handmade 500ml jar keepsake ready to bubble away on your counter, packed with delicious potential.

  • A vegan-friendly version using soy sauce instead of fish sauce is happily available; please flag this and any other dietary requirements when making your arrangements.

I'm a native Korean speaker, professional language teacher, and kimchi maker based in Manchester. I grew up making kimchi every autumn with my family and have spent over 10 years sharing Korean language and culture with students across the UK. Whether you're joining me to learn Hangul, unlock K-drama phrases, or make your first jar of kimchi from scratch, every class comes with the real cultural context — the stories, the history, and the warmth — that you won't find anywhere else. Korean With Park isn't just a class. It's a piece of Korea in Manchester."
