In this cultural craft workshop, you'll learn how to create your own Kikyo Flower Brooch using traditional Japanese techniques. The session is will be lead by Cora, a professional Tsumami Zaiku maker - you'll develop skills in Tsumami Zaiku, which involves careful folding & fabrication techniques.
This hands-on activity welcomes participants of all skill levels, requiring no previous crafting experience. The techniques are lightly modified from traditional methods to ensure a beginner-friendly experience.
You'll have the creative freedom to design your own unique composition, arranging the flowers according to your artistic vision. The small group size ensures everyone receives adequate guidance and attention throughout the process.

Background: What is Tsumami Zaiku?
Tsumami-zaiku is an artisan skill originated in the Japanese aristocracy, dating back to the late 18th century. It is a traditional craft that has always played an important part in the traditional entertainment scene. Practitioners create decorative items and fashion accessories by folding and assembling small, square pieces of fabric.
