Enjoyed beginner’s crochet class very much.
The instructor was lovely, very patient and kind, and gave us plenty of individual attention.
Only 3 people in the class which is ideal.
I did find quite difficult to master the stitches but feel I have been given the knowledge and the confidence to keep going with my learning and practising.
I only wish that this class was longer as 1.5 hours is not a lot of time in which to gain the basic skills needed.
The written instructions will be helpful and the instructor has also arranged to send us a video link.
I feel encouraged to sign up for the next class.

Very disappointed I had been told not to take my own sewing machine with me as Kathryn had expected me to Fortunately I had taken the instruction book & she was able to go through that with me so it wasn’t a totally wasted hour. Our teacher today was great, she explained three different options of what the children could do on their canvas screens. There was a wide range of colours, brushes, gems etc.

If they needed help she explained how they could do it and made sure their work was going to have the best outcome.

I needed help to read a crochet pattern. Although I could crochet a granny square, I did not know the name of the stitches or follow a pattern. Kathryn was great as she actually crocheted part of the pattern and explained the stiches and terms so I could easily follow her.

4 year old daughter had a lovely time making christmas cards. Emma the instructor had a lovely calm manner with the young children. Variety of resources and examples of cards to inspire the children but it was lovely that the children really could use their imagination to create what they desired. Lovely way to spend an hour. Would love to see more regular weekend/afterschool simple craft sessions such as this. A lovely way to inspire children to be creative.

Our host was very patient, Even with a couple that were late she got us all started on time so we got to make two decorations. My daughter is excised to get the paints out to make her bauble too.

I had an introduction class with Pam looking at the basics. As someone new to using a sewing machine Pam was the perfect watcher, as she was super clear and checked what I wanted to learn in the class. Pam explained everything clearly and checked my understanding by asking me to perform the task after she did. I felt like I learnt a lot in one hour, how to set up the machine, what everything does, how to use the different stitch types and had a chance to play around with the stitches. I feel a lot more confident now and would highly recommend Pam. Thank you!

My only comment is that it felt a little rushed. An extra half an hour would have been great, plus the option of adding other things, such as pine cones etc.

We made our wreaths, with help from expert Pam (thank you Pam!), in a quiet corner of the Hobbycraft shop. Everything was provided. Under Pam’s guidance I produced a beautiful wreath, which looks fabulous on our front door. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be and I will definitely be signing up for another craft workshop - this time a Christmas wreath perhaps?

The teacher was nice and accommodating to the individual children. The materials were ok, some of the holes in the beads weren’t open enough to slot onto the string but the teacher went to find a tool to help. We needed more time though, 30 minutes wasn’t long enough for children of that age and had to take it home to complete. Overall, my daughter enjoyed her experience and loves her wind chime that she made. Good value for the price.

Great experience I went on my own but Christine the tutor made everyone feel at ease. Teaching style was great no one felt rushed and the hour (and a bit extra flew by). Very happy with the end result and items made. Also the quality of the items we used (and those we didn’t to take home) were very good value. Lani was incredibly patient and explained everything clearly. It's a shame we didn't have the tools available to try embossing and foil stamping but Lani directed me to useful YouTube videos to look at. I was able to try the iron on vinyl which was the project I was most nervous about, and Lani showed me methods to make the whole process easier. It was a great lesson and I'm ready to get going on my Cricut! :)

I really enjoyed my lesson with Pam today. She was very helpful with some questions I had about a current project and some tricky pattern issues on a new project. I was also struggling with some functions on my sewing machine and she helped resolve these. She taught me how to sew a buttonhole using the sewing machine and I also got to practice which was very helpful. The room we used was perfect.

Most of the clay both of my kids were given to use had already been opened/used and was quite dry and hard to work with. It was only 20 minutes in to the half hour session that a brand new clay was opened and I stated that it felt completely different to the clay we were using to which I was told that it dries out really quickly and becomes hard to work with. I expect to be given new products to use (at least for the most part). I asked for one of my children's to start again because it was unworkable however my other child who didnt start again with new clay had the head of her chick fall off within probably 30 minutes of leaving because of the clay being too dry and she was devastated. Would do this again, however I would ensure they were given new clay (at least for the main body)

This was my first time sewing since Clothing and Textiles classes at secondary school many years ago! My instructor Pam was very patient and helped me to understand the basics of using a machine. During the hour, I learnt how to thread the machine, wind the thread around a bobbin, practise a few stitches and ended with a hem. I also got some tips on purchasing a machine as a beginner. All in all well worth the £20 for the lesson. Now I’m even more motivated to make my outfit especially as bespoke clothing is so expensive!

My last Cricut class with Sharon my teacher at Reading Hobbycraft was amazing!
She has equipped me with the knowledge that now I could develop my skill even further! My skill since my first class has leaped so much that I can’t put in words but my projects speak for itself.
Definitely recommend at least one class with purchasing a cricut machine. One to one class is better as the teacher can focus on your skills and further your knowledge.

*Customers in the store weren’t sure we were staff/workshop? Etc so it would helpful to distinguish the work shop area as they were distracting and the class was interrupted. This happen 3 times.
Just an obvious sign saying the workshop in progress would help. You do have this sign but it is not placed where easily visible for customers shopping.

I was quite disappointed this year. We did the same workshop last year and it was so much better. Children were given a huge box of supplies to take away last year and the table was full of craft bits to make cards. This year was very different. Limited stuff on the table, one bottle of dried up glitter glue, some stickers and sequins. Kids had fun but was disappointing. Lady running the class was lovely & helpful though

My 3 year old daughter had a lovely hour this morning with Sue making Christmas keyrings. Sue was very engaging with both the children and adults in the group. Its perfect value for money, allowing us to have a nice morning crafting for a just a few pounds. Thank you!

Sue is amazing, this is our daughters 3rd lesson and Sue taught her how to make a little bag with a zip. The material and pattern were provided and we just bought the zip. Our daughter was allowed to choose the fabric and was thrilled with the end product. It’s wonderful to see her progress in her sewing.

Very helpful for what I needed, great knowledgeable teacher. It would have been better had the Wi-Fi been working on the store device as I wanted more design space help. The issue with Wi-Fi wouldn’t be an issue had it been a regular session. The hour went by quickly so worth having your questions ready. I took my own iPad too as different devices have different layouts. Some very useful tips were given. I would definitely recommend the one to one and hopefully get to book up again.

I had a lovely hour this morning in the Reading store which went all too quickly. My trainer allowed me to use my machine and Mac laptop which was brilliant as the system plugged in downstairs was android, this would have totally confused me!
My trainer went through all the basics with me, I was given the Cricut by a friend without any instructions so felt this was the best way forward. I had completed the basics on line but this made more sense.
I will definitely return when I am ready to put images on fabric.

Sue was amazing, we choose a pattern and material and Sue showed my daughter how to follow a pattern, cut it out along with some sewing. She had such a wonderful time. She made her own pj bottoms. This is her 2nd lesson with Sue who taught we he how to use her machine in the first lesson. We can’t recommend her highly enough.

Could have been a little more prepared on arrival with correct equipment etc for making the decorations rather than tubes of acrylic paint to use as rolling pins.
Taking wet clay decorations home also in a canvas bag was not a great idea. I thought a box was provided to keep them flat in transit. A lot of the decorations has mis shaped on arrival at home which was disappointing.

We had a lot of fun making bats and ghosts at this event at Hobby Craft in Reading. The session lasted around an hour and there was an area upstairs which was perfect. Cheap fun activity and always nice to have a mooch around the store too. Teacher was friendly and helpful.

Christine my teacher was great, very knowledgeable, could answer all the questions and queries I had and full of ideas. I had one to one tuition which was really personalised and useful. The venue, upstairs in the shop was good, however I would probably have hand washing facilities available as the painting can get a bit messy. I think the workshop is great value for money, considering that you also walk away with a starter acrylic painting kit too.

The lesson was wonderful. We purchased our machine in store last week and Sue helped me go through the setup process on the display model. Makes me more confident about setting up our new ma hire at home this weekend.
She then took me through some basic stitches before taking my DD through some basic machine stitches, answering our questions and letting her try a hand at hemming. She has a lovely style of teaching and falisha is keen to practise on her machine at home and then come show her projects to Sue at her next session.
I just would also like to say how pleased we are to have hobbycraft so near us offering these sessions. I will definitely recommend to friends and family and look forward to signing up for a few more sessions myself

My two girls loved the workshop. They got acrylic paint, gems stones, glitter glue, colouring pens to do their artwork on canvas. Teacher gave clear instructions and she looked after the kids from time to time. It's a great value of money and will definitely join another one again.

The sewing lesson was great fun ,part refresher and part new.
Sue ( the teacher) put me at ease straight away , used a similar sewing machine to the one I had at home ,was very good and gave clear instructions and feedback.
Thought it was good value for money and sitting in a quiet room to work was ideal as there were less distractions.

The only drawback I would say was the lack of sponge brushes or rollers which would have made the experience more exciting. We had a small paint brush to paint the whole canvas so it took more time too.

We were blown away. We arrived and there was a big box awaiting in the office, they used this as it was cooler than the usual place (due to the hottest day of the year) which had all our daughters (8yrs) materials for the class and it had been wrapped in tissue paper.
Lilly then showed her how to do the Acrylic paint pouring.
She created 3 pieces and was totally ensconced.
I couldn’t recommend it enough. I also thought it was incredibly good value for what you get.

My daughter of 10 years met Pam and we had planned for her to learn about zips and how to integrate into bags. What she came out with is not only learning about zips but how to make great toiletries bags and she was over the moon. I had a one to one class with Sharon yesterday and I have to say it was very, very useful.
She answered all my questions, demonstrating all I needed to be shown plus gave me tips how to be efficient and use the machine to my advantage which I don’t think you get from a book or Utube for that matter! I mean it has to be demonstrated and shown to you. A two way communication.

An hour was required for a good demonstration. By the time the class was finished I felt confident to use the machine and accessories.

Just a minor suggestion. It would be good to allocate an area on the shop floor to cricut for teaching as people were passing by which was slightly distracting. Maybe some spacing around the area so people could still watch the demonstration but not distracting. Also a small area where the student could place materials demonstrated which as customers pass by could see what he teacher has demonstrated.

Please do convey my sincere thanks and appreciation to Sharon. Let her know my glitter card is working perfectly

The coloured mache egg workshop was fantastic. My little girl had lot of fun sticking colourful papers, glitter and lot more embellishments on the eggs. Hayley was amazing with the kids and provided all the material and instructions.

Another workshop making sock puppets was great too. Meg taught us how to easily make the puppets and was patiently helping out the kids.

My niece (aged 11) and I attended the mini cacti knitting workshop. It was very well taught with a friendly and personable instructor. We both left keen to complete our project and would certainly return to a workshop again.

The position of the workshop area is slightly less ideal being draughty and quite central in the shop, meaning people not on the workshop do stop to ask questions.

There was a lot to get through, but our instructor offered further advice following the class if needed, which was much appreciated!

Let's start with our expectations: To understand if our daughter could sew and if this was the right, first machine for her.

We met Pam in store a fortnight before, as we wanted to see the options and costs on the machines and types.

From the moment we met Pam, she was courteous, very knowledgable and explained in detail.

This continued throughout the 1 hour session. Every step was explained in a calm and effective manner, knowledge was great and key tips were provided. Pam had done some homework and preparation too and our girl was overjoyed! Our family were very impressed; this is the way sessions should be done and we will be booking more for the future to advance our little girls skills.

The facilities were good, clean and everything to hand; it was an environment we were used too and due to the preparation work; all we needed and perfectly set-up.

Overall, fantastic service and really, really pleased with Pam; well done team at Hobbycraft!

As this is a beginners class for people who have not crocheted ever, my thoughts are that it was a little advanced for beginners. I would have thought the basics should be taught first and possibly make a flat sample of crochet, using the range of stiches, not to start with a triangle, with a starting point of virtually nothing and then increasing all the way up, which in my opinion comes with practice and time. And because of this I think the session had to be rushed to allow for the stitches to be covered in the time and also we were given a pattern for bunting with terminology that we did not understand. The opportunity of a follow on session would have been good, maybe a week or two after.

Christine our teacher, was very friendly and clearly very competent in this skill. I was a complete novice but felt enabled to do what I wanted to at the speed I wanted.
I was very pleased with the variety and quantity of the supplied materials which I thought good value for money and found the venue perfectly acceptable.
I would recommend bringing an apron or overall to protect clothing because it is quite a messy but very enjoyable process.

I attended the evening class at Reading and was please to see that the class was set-up and started on time. We were a class of two, so it was nice to see and bounce ideas with someone as well as the tutor. Christine was our tutor, very easy-going and informative and made us feel comfortable and relaxed. She discussed various techniques and we were able to complete two pours each in the time allotted - which shot past very quickly. The large beginner kit, that was included in the price, was just right to start with; we were also given a framed board to use along with the canvases in our kit. I recommend taking along an apron and some hand wipes - it can get quite messy :) All in all it was a very pleasant and informative hour. Thank you Christine and Pat.

A lovely little workshop, I was the only one there for this one but meant I got a great one-to-one tutorial on some card making ideas. The materials provided were excellent & so glad I got to take them home too to continue my crafts. Lots of Christmas cards sorted!

There was only 2 of us on the course. The tutor was knowledgeable, friendly and very patient. The course involved learning the technique of writing the letters. Gave some time out to do this in the shop. Packages were lovely with more than enough material to carry on at home following the lesson.
I would recommend the course to anyone.

Brilliant idea to have the workshops. I was over the moon when I saw you ran them.

I was very lucky to have a one to one session. Have me a good opportunity to see what the circuit was like and which one suited my needs. The teacher was so lovely, very knowledgeable and patient as I asked questions. I got to see it action and how to use design space and the meanings of the different icons. After the session I left convinced which machine to get and projects in mind.

Brilliant idea - I look forward to other workshops in the near future.

The venue was great for me as it's local.

There was extra material on the table which was appreciated as the frosted wreath kit was limited, there could have been more variety in the box (especially when compared to the original box).

Really disappointed with the content of the frosted wreath box, hardly anything in it, whereas the other box was much nicer, which was the one that I wanted but was unable to select it. Teacher taking it was lovely and thankfully she put other bits on the table to put use, otherwise the rating would have been much lower.

Excellent instruction by Sharon. Plenty of quality materials. Would have liked 90 mins to complete it rather than 60mins to make it a more relaxed experience. Lovely morning spent making something I will feel proud to display in my home over Christmas.

Fantastic 1-1 - would highly recommed. Bring your own machine if you have one - no hard sell on material but very willing to tell you necessary items - I'd highly recommend this class.

The teacher of the class was very helpful. And the kit is beautifully designed, and the box it comes in is good for keeping the wreath in to keep it safe . I found it very enjoyable and would recommend it to anyone, its a lovely way to spend an hour.

Really good class which I enjoyed. Kathryn was very friendly and good at explaining the technique, and I had the chance to try writing and joining different letters which will help my own craft projects. The materials provided were good too - the pack consists of pens, pad, a notebook you can decorate, tags and how to sheets you can use to practice. Definitely recommending this if you want to learn about brush lettering.

I booked the Christmas fillable decorations class for myself & friend Hazel. We arrived at the venue in Reading and were met by Sharon. She had already put out our boxes. It was like opening up a Xmas present, there was so much stuff inside. From all the little Xmas trees, house, church dogs, cat and many more, very good value for money. There was a choice of what you wanted but I'd gone with the house one. Sharon told us about the safety of the glue gun & then showed us some of the things she had made and then we were let loose! We arranged then rearranged what was going where, then stuck it all down and filled the baubles with snow. I found out with the snow less is more otherwise your decorations look like they've been stuck in a snow drift! We spent a very enjoyable hour having fun. I highly recommend any of the make and take classes held at Hobbycraft. Looking forward to see what's going on in December.

Kind and helpful workshop leader (Sharon in Reading) and was very gracious we arrived a tiny bit late. The kids had a great time with relaxed company and helpful encouragement (aged 6 and 7). Great value for money and would definitely recommend.

Sharon was lovely, very calm and knowledgeable, with lots of ideas.
Hobbycraft craft Reading always fab venue, plenty of room.
Love the materials, although it would be better if you could have a choice of all the cloche kits.
The class was great value for money however I would like to have option of not having the glue gun, as I already have two glue guns.
I also spoke to Sharon about some of the other workshops.

I attended the Christmas cloche making class, had a really enjoyable time. The items to use in the class were packaged together in an individual box for each participant and wrapped in tissue paper which made it all seem more special. The teacher was excellent, very friendly, knowledgeable and demonstrated what to do very well. I came away with new skills and am looking forward to putting them into practice.

The session was great value for money as it included a cross-stitch package. The teacher was great but it would have been better to have 90 minutes with her rather than an hour, as by the time my 13 year old had threaded the needle and knotted the thread, 20 minutes had passed.
