Throughout the year, Hobbycraft host a variety of workshops in stores and online, designed to give everyone the opportunity to master a new craft or refine a long-time favourite. Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

My son really enjoyed this workshop, so much so that I have ended up buying several more packs of clay and he has been making some awesome little masterpieces at home. It really helped his confidence and has inspired his creative side.

I bought this for my mum in law as a Mother’s Day gift and decided to join her. We both enjoyed the workshop and learnt lots, we had some wool, crochet hook, bag and basic instructions to takeaway. So definitely worth the money.

We attended the Halloween air clay workshop and the lady running the workshop showed us how to make each figure. This time there was so guidance, the clay was given to the children and they could make what ever they wanted. I could of done this at home- very disappointing.

The snowman advent calendar workshop was really lovely and Lindsay was very helpful, friendly and informative. Great workshop idea with a lovely choice of materials.
Our friends arrived before us, and we arrived at 11.10 for the advertised 11.15 start but our friends had been told whilst waiting for us. it was an 11am start. We finished at 12, which resulted in 2 of the 3 Snowmen calendars not being quite finished which was a shame. Could you confirm the correct start time please? We are looking forward to another workshop in a few weeks time.

My daughter and I had a lovely beginner’s crochet lesson in Hobbycraft Plymouth. Our teacher, Tracy, was very patient and explained the crochet stitches extremely well. She gave my daughter the confidence to read patterns and taught her how to put mistakes right! My daughter finished her crochet creature at home and is very pleased with it.

I really enjoyed the one to one crochet session. Tracy listened to what I want to learn. We looked at patterns I had printed out and started to work on the project. It was great fun and the hour passed really quickly.

Had a lovely time learning how to crochet. I found it quite complicated but Tracy was very patient (lucky for me) and I felt confident enough by the time I left to finish my square at home. Would definitely recommend.

Teacher - Tracy was very friendly and approachable, she spent time with each member of the group to help them, but due to having 5 ladies with different skill levels in the group it was difficult for her. My only advice for Tracy is to slow down when demonstrating a stitch and repeat. She is very skilled in crochet.
Environment - The learning space was extremely hot and the store music was a little loud when trying to hear Tracy at times, and felt a little hemmed in with large a box on table.
Overall - main point I learnt to hold the crochet needle and the basic treble stitch, I was a little disappointed that a few other stitches weren't included to help me crochet basic projects, Tracy did try to show me a few but not enough time to practice.

Not very organised, there was little choice of colours. Mainly black and white which was not really appropriate for chicks and bunnies! The actual demonstration could have have been better. Would have been better with step by step instruction.

The group size was great as it was small and we all got the help needed. The materials provided were really nice, two colours of chunky yarn and a suitable hook size. o feel this was well worth it and I’d recommend this to anyone who’s interested.

This was the first time attending a workshop within a Hobbycraft. I was expecting it to be a busy workshop but turned out to be my son and myself with a member of staff (first time running a workshop) who obviously felt out of her depth. There wasn't much guidance from staff member and it kind of felt like an activity I could have done with him at home.

The material and venue setup were really good, but Racheal has made the session very enjoyable, and productive; always patient with all participants and giving additional tips along the way. I liked the signage to the workshop table as this made it easy to find.
I thought the goodies box was fab; wrapped up beautifully and it felt like I was getting a present.
Sophie is lovely and I enjoyed taking to her. She’s easy to get on with and she had some good ideas. The session flew by and I’m delighted with my air-dry clay tags which I’m going to paint.
I would have given 5 stars except for the lack of other participants. I feel that the activity could really be promoted more; everyone who comes through the door is a potential crafter and that could have been tapped into!
Put some of the workshop creations on display. Get staff talking to customers about them. Workshops are the thing to do at the moment and these are reasonably priced.
I saw this one on Facebook but none of my friends knew that Hobbycraft ran them. People are currently keen to do things in person rather than on Zoom.
I’d been looking forward to meeting other people and sharing ideas.
Your marketing department needs to be out there! It’s a super workshop which you could now expand into ‘other things to do with air-drying clay’ as I need ideas what to do with the rest of the pack; okay I’ll look online but it could have been something that a larger group would have talked about.
All credit for letting the workshop go ahead even though there was only one person on it.

Gabby the elf was amazing, we had all the resources we needed to create beautiful Christmas cards. She was chatty and kept the Christmas spirit alive, she also got more glue and more of certain recourses as they had ran out, as we were the last to leave we got a few bits to take home that she couldn't reuse for the next group. My daughter loved it.

Fantastic experience in the Plymouth store today. We loved the creativity and the amazing patterns we created on the baubles. They will make wonderful gifts. The staff member teaching us was fantastic, and we even had time at the end to make gift cards and postcards. Would definitely recommend this workshop to anyone who enjoys being creative.

Workshop was cancelled due to Hobbycraft not sending the boxes of wreaths. Hobbycraft didn’t contact any of attendees do we all turned up and poor in store staff had very disappointed and angry customers. I travelled over an hour specifically for this workshop. Booked months ago, now have to buy a wreath instead of making. Hobbycraft you need to sort yourselves out, beyond disappointed.

Booked this pumpkin craft session for the kids (3yrs and 7yrs)?and we had such a brilliant time. The organiser was really lovely and was happy to help the children and was very encouraging. We were given 2 very large paper mache pumpkins and were supplied with lots of coloured tissue paper and glue. We will definitely book in on another craft session in the future. It was extremely good value for money and a great activity to keep the kids amused during the holidays.

My daughter really enjoyed the workshop, but the only down fall was that not all items listed was included and wasn’t organised as well as it could of been. I felt a little rushed at the end as the next workshop was hovering around the table waiting for us to finish and leave, maybe the workshops should be 20 minutes apart so the previous group isn’t made to feel like this

Steph hosted the kids canvas painting session for 5 friends aged 7-11. The girls all had a great time. She gave them all ideas and helped make sure they were all dry enough to carry home. Loved how everyone came away with completely different styled canvas, there were enough paints and equipment to facilitate that. Great workshop as always, can't wait for the next one.

My tutor, Stephanie, was very knowledgeable about the Cricut machines. I was a complete newbie to these machines but have learnt enough, in my short lesson with Stephanie, to start having a go at some projects. The workshop only had 3 attendees. I knew nothing about the product at all. We helped make a cushion cover. I am not sure if I got what I was expecting from the workshop. I came away a little disappointed. The product is very expensive to purchase both the unit and the accessories. Will not be purchasing one anytime soon

The teacher was really helpful. She helped me to rectify beginner errors, how to do extras I hadn't figured out myself like buttons, button holes and zips and then tips and tricks to make things easier. The test drive fabrics with stitch patterns to follow were really useful in learning to control my machine. It would almost be worth having these available to purchase separately if you can't do the class.

Whilst the site says not to bring your own machine I did just in case and was glad I did as it meant my machine specific problems could be solved. The teacher also said it was better for that reason. She did have a machine that I could have used (Singer) but it wasn't the same as mine (Hobbycraft 19s).

I left feeling significantly more confident and looking forward to creating more projects and progressing!

The tutor, Tracy,
was very reassuring, calm and explained all of the basics in a very clear and understandable way.
Threading the machine, different options of stitching, tension, and buttonholes,

i attended with my daughter - it was present for her birthday. The teacher was welcoming and talkative, and said she'd attended a course herself with the creator of the packs we were given, but i felt she could have shared what she'd learnt a bit better, the 'teaching' was a little vague. The venue is fine if a little chilly, (but i think that's probably covid ventilation ). The pack was brilliant and made the whole thing worthwhile and provided good value for money - thank you we had a chance to practice with the pens and materials provided.

Tracy the instructor was so lovely and so willing to help. I had a really good time, it was like getting a one-to-one session! She showed me how to thread the machine, how to wind a bobbin, and how todoa buttonhole.
Having an in person sessikn was so much more heloful than an online one. I will say, the email confirmationsaid not to bring my sewing machine, but the instructor was expecting me to bring one. She was really happy to get one oftheir test machines, but worth keeping in mind.

I took my niece (10) to this workshop for something a bit different and she had a great time. The woman running the workshop was very lovely and was kind enough to give my niece some extra supply’s.
However I don’t think this was value for money as it was an activity I believe we could have done unaided at home and it did not need to be a workshop.

This class was brilliant from the moment we arrived we were made very welcome. The boxes we were given were amazing and got the event off to a fantastic start, we felt like we were opening presents on Christmas Day. Then we saw the quality and volume of goodies inside and it took us to a new level of excitement, which Sophie (our teacher) handled brilliantly. It is not easy guiding a gaggle of excited middle aged ladies. The class was an hour long and seemed like 5 minutes due to the fun we were having. Echoes of our laughter ran through the store along with the obligatory Christmas songs in the background. I cannot recommend highly enough. ☃️

Really useful class, learnt how to use vinyl which I’ve never tried before. Came away feeling a lot confident with vinyl and my Cricut on a whole. Didn’t catch the teachers name but she was lovely and informative

Tracy was really helpful & made me feel comfortable. I'm really happy as I can now use my machine! Location wise could be better as customer wanted help with some thing could do with may be a little sign saying lessons taking place as if store was busy could be constant interruptions from customers during lesson which could be quite frustrating as you have paid & could loose concentration. Thank you Tracy a very happy customer.

Excellent teacher and great facilities. My daughter really enjoyed it and we had lots of materials left to make more at home. The only thing I would mention is my daughter is 6 and found it quite tricky so may be better for 7 years+.

My daughter really enjoyed this session. The materials she received in the box were really good and she has plenty to do many more pictures at home. The teacher was really friendly and gave her good tips. Would definitely recommend.

Our teacher was Amy. I booked the lesson for my son and daughter. I think the lesson was good value for money. I wanted to book water colour too but I am only available on the weekends. We enjoyed the lesson greatly especially for my daughter. She always had an interest in painting or art. I would love it if Hobby craft could provide addition lessons 1 on 1 or otherwise, minus the cost of equipments since we already have them from the first class. It can be just like this one but with different picture or topic. I love that the lesson was in a shop. If we needed additional art supplies for later or if my kids had inspiration for something, we could get what we need right there. We are very happy with the lesson. I will keep an eye out for more.

Our teacher was Amy. I booked this lesson for my son and daughter. Amy was very good with kids, friendly and easy to talk to. I love how encouraging she was. She kept saying “it doesn’t have to be perfect”. My son is forever overshadowed by his sister. I believe Amy’s genuine encouragements boosted his confident greatly.
The venue was clean and bright. I liked that it’s well lit. I didn’t like that the speaker was directly above us. I found it bit loud at first. However, honestly I forgot about the sound once the lesson started. A customer interrupted us briefly because she wanted help to find something. It might be better if the lesson took place on the 1st floor.
The box was a nice touch. I love how I can just show up and everything’s provided. I love that a booklet was included so if we wanted to do more painting, we already have everything that’s needed.
