Throughout the year, Hobbycraft host a variety of workshops in stores and online, designed to give everyone the opportunity to master a new craft or refine a long-time favourite. Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

First course I have done at hobby craft. Good value for money. Materials provided were great with plenty left over to experiment more at home. Only £1 extra to do the course rather than just buy the materials. Different techniques explained along with other ideas of how you improve your creations. Nice to have a private room to complete this. Would recommend be to others

Lovely relaxing workshop with Hannah, thank you for a great
Morning.

Hannah was very helpful, friendly and Provided clear easy to follow instructions too. Great facilities for the workshop too, providing hand washing.
All materials and kit used were perfect, and easy to use.

I learnt how to do paint pouring using different techniques to achieve different results of which I was really happy with.

Workshop was excellent value for money, I enjoyed being able to be creative.

Great value for money as it included the kit worth £30 (even better with the offer of 20% off!). The teacher was lovely, venue appropriate, and a really good beginners guide. I only wish I could have done this in my local store of Banbury instead of travelling 30 miles to Northampton.
It would be nice to have an improvers course with more time.

I enjoyed the beginner paint pouring class. The material kit included in the price of the workshop was good.
The teacher was friendly and explained clearing what to do.
I learnt three different techniques of pouring and achieved 4 beautiful coasters.
I liked that we were given a kit that we could take home. I shall practice what I have learned on the canvases.
I would recommend this workshop.

Lovely friendly helpful staff member Hannah. She was very patient and helped me to learn how to crochet.
I received a bag with 2 lots of wool and a silver crochet hook.
I learnt double and treble stitches and how to start and finish off.
We made a square and I found it relaxing.
Would highly recommend coming here for learning.

Hannah was a great teacher, incredibly patient and supportive. She was very clear with her instructions but also flexible in her approach. She clearly knew a lot about crochet, and I would have loved to have longer to learn more from her! My fellow learner was also great and Hannah worked well with both of us. I felt I learnt a lot and am keen to go away and practise to get a lot better. We were given yarn, a crochet hook and bag which were good to work with, and made a great start. This was a Christmas present to me and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I look forward to my next workshop!

Having never picked up a crochet hook I was slightly anxious attending the workshop.

What was the teacher like? Hannah was friendly and relaxed, putting us at our ease. She very clearly and helpfully, took us through the various stages and techniques, and was able to answer all our questions.

If materials were provided, did you like them? Loved the goodie bag of materials, giving us the incentive to carry on practising at home.

What did you do / learn? Basic techniques/introduction to watercolours.
What did you like most? Seeing the work develop using the techniques shown. Being given the confidence to 'give it a go' and to carry on later, at our leisure.

Next time don't use twine use ribbon or plastic hooks to hook baubles on. The twine frayed and went onto the paint. More than five people to a workshops, please open up to more people. Also can I have a list of materials, so I can go on the shop floor and purchase, so I can recreate at home, with a discount voucher for spending on the same day.

I spent a very intuitive & enjoyable hour with Nat at Northampton making my first Christmas wreath.
All materials were provided & Nat answered all my questions & gave me so many tips for future wreath making.

Pat is like the Yoda of sewing; help you she will! I learnt more in an hour with Pat than I certainly would’ve staring at a pattern that might as well have been in a foreign language. Pat talked me through and translated the pattern into plain English as well as going through the practical sewing machine bits too. Finally Pat helped me identify the other bits and pieces I needed to really kick start my project. Great value and much better than any book or online video.

What a great session - Fiona was really friendly, and very very knowledgeable. She put me at my ease straight away and as I am a complete novice she explained everything, even the symbols on the wool band and hooks. I cannot believe I have learnt the 2 basic stitches (and a 3rd) and have come straight home to continue so I don’t forget! Highly recommend the workshop - if she can teach me anyone can do it!

The class was booked for my 11 year old daughter who has shown an interest in crochet and wanted to learn the basics.
The teacher was exceptional, patient, nurturing and extremely talented in this skill.
All the initial equipment was provided and you got to keep in a tote bag.
My daughter came away feeling proud, she learnt alot and had crochet is something she wants to continue with.

Starting from knowing very little, I needed help with starting a sewing machine, I learnt types of stitching, how to thread a machine and put in the bobbin. I learnt straight stitches, stitching a square and circle - and how to put on a button. Hannah was patient and kind and really knows her stuff. If you need any kind of guidance or have any questions this is a brilliant way to learn! Thank you so much!

Really enjoyed this workshop with my daughter (7 years old). Only issue was that it was rushed because we were limited to 30 minutes so only made two creatures. However, we were given the extra clay to take home and create more at home.

The lady that showed us what to do was lovely, very patient and helped so much. They got much more than I thought they would. They made 6 pin wheels and 2 rabbits. The kids loved it and even asked if there was anymore they could make! Will definitely be doing more in the future.

The lady taking the class was very very good with my daughter, she listened helped but always let my daughter what colours go where and how much, the materials provided were plentiful with no restrictions on how much a child can use. When my daughter asked for a chicken to be cut from the paper the lady taking the class was skilled enough to cut out an Easter chick and the a heart shape. A very enjoyable hour with a very pleasant friendly confident nice lady. Will have more of these classes when available.

My teacher Fiona was amazing during this class. She spoke and taught me various crochet stitches and I was able to create some little works of art. She observed my working and corrected me where I was going wrong. Fiona is really knowledgeable and a great teacher, I felt I learnt a lot during the class.

The class was held at Weedon Road Northampton Hobby craft and the workshop was easy to locate due to sign makers.

There were materials provided, 2X Yarn of foddering colours and an 8m crochet hook, these were really good and was easy to work with.

I feel the class was good value for money and the time I had was invaluable

I learnt how to crochet the right way, yarn over not under and found this made my crochet working so
Much better.

I liked the course and very much enjoyed my time with Fiona. She is such a lovely, kind, knowledgeable and a very patient lady, she is an asset to you team.

Fantastic workshop! We learnt so much in just one session! The tutor was really helpful and informative and gave us all one-to-one help. Even when she was talking she was constantly watching and monitoring us and giving advice. Definitely an expert in her field! I liked the fact all materials were provided and we learnt what to look for on wool labels and tools for moving forward and starting new projects. I would have preferred a quieter work space tucked a bit more out of the way (customers were walking round us we worked). However this would not put me off booking another workshop. I thoroughly enjoyed it and am thrilled I have now learnt a new skill Thank you

I had a lovely session with Rosie learning beginners crochet. How to do the slip knot, line and double and treble crochet. We did it a few times for practice and Rosie was very patient and supportive. With the session you got 2 lovely yarn bundles (mustard yellow my favourite) and a crochet hook and a easy to read booklet for the techniques. I even asked about changing yarn colours and all questions answered and supported. Thank you!

I’ve been to hobbycraft classes before and enjoyed them. Abbie was great today but unfortunately the activity really wasn’t suitable for the ages of the children (4 and 5). It was too fiddly and a bit risky with the sharp pipe cleaners - the adults ended up making the decoration and the kids just got a bit bored and silly.

My lesson was with PatThe Sewing Sensei .

Pat was amazing The most kind & patient lady I have ever met. I am a complete learner and Pat's manner of teaching and relying of information is superb. Her step-by-step hands-on teaching style is great and made the process fun and enjoyable. Pat was so clear and thorough her descriptions and actions and talked me through every step. I asked approx. 4 million questions and Pat happily answered them alland made everything make sense. Pat is fountain of knowledgeand also has the patience of a saint.

I was terrified walking in, I imagined failing miserably and wanting to return my unboxed machine the next day. However, I walked away with a new confidence that I can do this, and it is possible, just practise, practise practise. As Pat and I laughed aboutYou don't have your 1st driving lesson and take on a mototorwayit's a long process from 1st stitch (today) to actually making a garment myself to wear or even maybe just fixing something properly
I now have the confidence and belief that I can get there. I plan to frame my practise stitch patches from today.

My 2nd class with Denise at Npton and she is fab! Thoughtful, chatty and charming, also very thoughtful as myself and my friend are both disabled. The staff had to move us downstairs after a light fitting collapsed, which was easier for me personally. A good mix of materials was offered and compared to buying one new I do think it's pretty good value for money. I love my wreaths (Autumn and Christmas workshops) and this is the first year I've handmade them but I'm hooked Thank you to Denise and the staff at Npton who are always so lovely!

This was our second Kids crafting session, but our first at Northampton branch. It was really well managed and organised with everything you could possibly need. The workshop run by lovely Julie was amazing! I got it for my daughter and myself, and we had a lovely time learning together. There was only two other people apart from us, the atmosphere was very friendly and full of laughter. The materials we got were the hook, two yarns in beautiful colours and an instruction booklet with a step by step guide, that helped us practicing when we got home after the workshop. Julie guided us through the first steps with a patient of an angel, and she gave us some great tips for the future! I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to learn how to crochet!

Natalie put on a fantastic mask making class. My niece absolutely loved it and we had the best time I couldn’t believe how many lovely things they had available for her to make her mask beautiful and colourful. Natalie was so helpful, nothing was too much to make sure the children enjoyed every second.

Natalie was amazing, really engaged the children and talked them through what they were doing. She also gave them some fab additional ideas above and beyond the fossils. The children really enjoyed themselves and made lots of lovely take home pieces. The session was great value for money and a brilliant activity to break up the summer holiday with. We went on to buy some more clay to play with and the children are looking forward to making more things with it. Thank you for a fantastic session, we'll be doing more.

The teacher for the workshop was very cheerful, and explained the stitches clearly and answered all of my questions with patience, being a beginner to crocheting.

I was able to then independently complete the project with the crocheting techniques taught in the workshop with ease. The kit provided had a crochet hook and plenty of wool, so now I can use it work on a new project with them, I feel the workshop was very good value for money for the skill learnt from it.

I was the only participant in the Cricut Mug Press workshop so Shane was great, helping me with all the questions I wanted to ask. His demostration of both the Cricut Maker 3 machine and the Mug Press were very in-depth but easy to understand as a newby to the Cricut world! The Northampton store was easy to find with plenty of free parking (and coffee shops nearby) which is always a plus to me. I travelled from Leicester so by the time I had reached home and had a good think about what I had learned, I decided to take the plunge and ordered both the Maker 3 (with everything bundle) and the Mug Press. Thank you Shane!

Really good course. The set of equipment given was lovely and a perfect starter set.
I was lucky because I was the only person on the course so had one on one tuition.
Abbie was a great teacher, gave good pointers and really helped me to understand where I was going wrong with my technique.
The only shame is the course is only an hour. It wasn’t long enough!

I had a wonderful lady called Pat who was so informative and really put me at ease. As well as teaching me the basics, Pat has given me the confidence to buy my first sewing machine. She also spent time with me talking through the sewing machines on sale in store, highlighting the pros and cons of each machine. The session was Great value for money. I’ll be back for more lessons

Would thoroughly recommend this to anyone new to cricut. Shane was very clear and made the software easier to understand. The teacher, Abbie, is brilliant, fun and excellent. It was unfortunate that I was the only person who attended. There was an area set up for the lesson and I was given a pack containing all the necessary materials. The only thing I didn't like was the templates provided as they weren't really suitable for brush lettering. Apart from that I consider it money well spent. I have plenty of materials to practice with. Thank you.

I have done a few of the workshops with Shane and he is very knowledgeable. We chose a project to suit me - adding a design to a cushion cover. The store was clean and tidy and Shane had all the materials ready in advance. Shane explained each step and other options that could be done such as adding different colours. He answered all my questions and gave me some great hints and tips. He was very safety conscious as we were using the EasyPress which got very hot. Shane is a great teacher and I did not feel rushed which made the workshop very enjoyable.

This is the third workshop I have done with Shane. Again he answered all my questions and tailored the workshop to what I was wanting to learn. He also explained all the materials and examples of how and when you would use them. None of the three courses I have done with Shane have felt rushed. If you are thinking of doing one of these workshops I would thoroughly recommend Shane and the Northampton store.

Shane was very knowledgeable and tailored the session to me and what I wanted to learn. He explained about the different types of vinyl and some ideas on how and when to use each type. Shane showed me step by step what to do both with the vinyl and design space and answered all of my questions. The session was very informative and gave a great insight in what was possible on the Cricut Maker 3. There were materials readily available and tips were given on how to maximise the use of the offcuts. Another great session and I look forward to the next one on infusible ink.

I currently do not own one but am attending some workshops to get some ideas on what it can do before purchasing. Shane answered all my questions and I also got some great tips from him. Having a one-to-one session was perfect as it enabled me to get the best out of the hour and focus on what I needed to know in order to get started on my new machine. Shane was really good at explaining things and he did his best to answer my various questions based on moving from my (ten year) old Cricut to the much newer Explore Air 2. I went into the session hating my machine but now I am keen to try out what I've discovered. Will definitely book another session once I've got to grips with the basics!

I had the hour one to one Cricut workshop. I am a complete beginner and wanted to learn how to produce a 3d design from card. The tutor picked a bee design and I learnt how to cut the different stages out of coloured card and how to make a crease in the wings for the 3d effect. It was very informative and the tutor was very helpful giving me tips for sticking the different layers of the bee together. I would really recommend this workshop for a beginner to get you started or for a more experienced crafter needing help on a project.

I really enjoyed the Wreath Making Workshop which I attended yesterday at your Sixfields Branch. It was a nice and friendly atmosphere and got me into the Christmas spirit. I attended this on my own so it was nice to feel included. It would have been nice to have a little Christmas music in the background but the chocolate coins went down a treat. The extra wreath items which were on the table were an added bonus, especially the pepperberries, which I really loved. I did have red berries in my wreath box but a lady gave them to another lady before I realised they were mine. She then came back to take my cones from my box but I spotted her and was able to keep them for myself. Lol
It was nice to be left to make your own creation but also knowing that help was on hand was great. The lady taking the class was very helpful when asked. I would highly recommend the workshop and have already asked my daughter to join me for one next year as she liked my finished wreath.

Great value for money as all the supplies are provided, presented beautifully in a box and tissue paper the children get to excitingly open ( like Christmas) The teacher, Louise was brilliant, friendly,professional and inspired me to buy a canvas and have a go in my own time. She gave my daughter loads of great tips and encouraged each child’s unique creativity. I would definitely recommend this workshop. Thank you Hobbycraft.

My daughter absolutely loved the workshop. The teacher, Shane was so friendly and clear with all instructions and the box was fully equipped with all she needed. We love the masterpiece she created and can’t wait to put it up in her room.
