Throughout the year, Hobbycraft host a variety of workshops in stores and online, designed to give everyone the opportunity to master a new craft or refine a long-time favourite. Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

I have just redecorated my living and decided on a stylised sunset feature for a bare wall. I liked the look of paint pouring so decided to learn how to do it properly. The teacher was brilliant, she was witty, funny and full of great ideas and different ways to use the paints/materials (there were more materials and paints than I expected in the set). On the whole the class was fantastic, I loved the fact that we all 'got messy', the end products turned out fantastic and I left the shop extremely happy. If I had to give marks the course would get 20 out of 10 (extremely impressed).

Booked a one on one sewing machine lesson with Kath as I'd lost my confidence. Kath is amazing. She explained so well about the different stitches & thead tension. We discussed the machine I had at home & we think we got to the bottom on the problem I was having

Did this workshop in the Newcastle branch with 4 children aged 6, 7, 10, 11. All children absolutely loved this workshop and can't wait to do another. The area was all set up with materials in advance of arrival meaning we had a full half hour actually creating. Staff member (Joanne) leading workshop was lovely, so attentive with the children, giving hints and tips but also correctly judged that they all wanted to create something different so rather than doing step by step she gave some prompts and ideas and chatted to them as they were busy. Honestly couldn't improve on this. Really impressed and will definitely be back. Thank you :)

WOW What amazing value for money. There was nobody else booked onto this class yet it was still run for my daughter to attend. 1:1 tuition from a delightful friendly member of staff who shared her knowledge and expertise so my daughter was able to learn how to print and make a beautiful picture.

A fantastic class with clear instructions given by a friendly teacher in a great venue with a spacious table to work on. The class lasted longer than it was meant to and this was amazing value for money. My daughter loved the class and learning how to make the different Easter animals.

Kath, was lovely and supportive with my 6 year old granddaughter., improvements, although the chair was low, My granddaughters feet did not reach the floor to well to press the foot control.
Kath did her best to rectify this, but my granddaughter struggled trying to reach.
Kath did say she would have to think about something to provide extra support under the feet for young children, that would allow the pedal to slip.

This was our second session and, just like the first, it was a really nice way to spend an hour. The craft bits that you get to use are really varied and the lady leading the session is very friendly. These workshops are very good value for money and we’ll definitely be attending more of them.

I really enjoyed having a lesson for cricut3 today with Sarah she showed me how to use design space, gave loads of tips and advice. Nothing was to much trouble. We made a card. Definitely worth doing. Thank you Sarah you were great.

I took Sawgrass Sublimation printer class. My teacher was very knowledgeable, friendly, pleasant young girl. Even though the colours of the printer weren't the best quality, her teaching level exceeded my expectations. I definitely would recommend taking classes with her.

Kath was very honest about not being experienced in the particular area I was looking at (free motion sewing), but she was very helpful with talking through the fundamentals of it and the various sewing machines, and being able to practice on a machine was invaluable.

Today’s workshop with Sarah was brilliant! I have learned so much and the hour flew over. Sarah shared lots of tips and tricks to help make my wedding invites. She helped me find the correct materials in the store and guided me on card weight etc. as a beginner I have came away so much more knowledgeable and even more excited about my new purchase. The teacher was very helpful and chatty and give me good advice. There was enough materials to decorate the wreath how I wanted and I'm happy with the end result.

Was good fun for the children and grown ups. Short but lovely crafts to do. Materials all provided and good instruction/demo of what to do for each craft.
The lady who ran the class was loved and understanding of all the children and great with children with SEN.
Would be good if there were a larger space to hold tbe activities for slightly larger group. But was cosy and nice for the small group that we had.
Definitely worth the cost. Have some lovely baubles, button tree and shining star for the Christmas season ✨️

My two girls absolutely loved the Halloween clay crafts that they did. Such a fun workshop where they made cute Halloween decorations with the lovely Caitlin. Loved how she made them alongside the children and showed them step by step what to do but allowing them to show their own creative sides too.

My friend and I had such a good time at this class. We were so impressed with the materials provided & the fact they were ours to keep. The kit provided meant we had plenty of paint to use in both the class & then at home too. Courtney our teacher was so lovely, patient & supportive. We booked this class when there was a discount offer on, however after this experience we will definitely book more classes. It was such a great experience which we would highly recommend.

The teacher ran the session well and was great with the children. However, the content of the workshop was not as advertised. We did not use Fimo clay or make the bunny Easter dish. Hobbycraft clay was provided and the children made a bunny and chick model. No tools were used as pictured in the advert.

We attended the Kids Mache Easter Treat Bucket class. The teacher was very chatty and welcoming. The class was small which suited my child. All the materials were supplied with a good variety of coloured paper tissue. Great value for money.

Jess showed me how to and use the brush pen, carefully demonstrating how to apply pressure to the pen. The class was conducted in a relaxed and fun way and I learnt a lot. I like that she told me that could learn from your mistakes and that you can have your own style. She gave me the confidence to carry on practising. I intend to use my skills for labelling and gift tags as well as just just enjoying the experience of brush lettering.
I love the resources that came with the workshop - the brush pens are gorgeous.

Excellent session. Jess was knowledgeable and gave lots of hints and tips. Materials provided were good quality. I was the only person in the class, so was fortunate to receive 1-1 teaching.
The location in the store was fine for the class, but the premises were cold, so by the end of the session I felt quite uncomfortable and was pleased it was only an hour in duration. Having said that, had it been warmer, I thoroughly enjoyed the class and would have happily stayed all afternoon to learn more - thanks Jess.

The lady was excellent in her knowledge, but had to rush from a previous Craft session to come to me, a little over the appointment time. I was not offered a chair/stool to sit on, as this was an hour’s session. I do have health conditions, which made this hard for me. I also expected it to be a bit of hands on, but it was all done by the member of staff. There’s a lot of information to take on board when it’s all new to you and I expected a couple of hand outs to trigger your memory once you got home. I feel now that I should have just gone on a group one, as it was on the shop floor where shoppers were stopping and having a chat with the member of staff, which I totally understand the fact that she couldn’t ignore them. I wouldn’t book another one to one session!

Fantastic crafting, making Santa Christmas Tree Topper.
The teacher was chatty and pleasant and the session wasnt rushed. Plenty of material supplied and they children had great fun making their creations. The topper will be pride of place on the top of the tree probably until the end of time Thank you.

Jess was lovely with the children. Very patient and good at explaining how to make the tree decorations . She showed a genuine interest in the children and they enjoyed chatting to her. Lots of different beads were available to make the little Xmas tree decorations and my granddaughters were happy with what they made . Good value for the money paid .

Teacher was lovely and very friendly but felt a little more tutorial would have been helpful. Also, it would have been beneficial to have a sample made up wreath so we knew what we were aiming to achieve. Table should have been bigger and it would have been really good if some sort of stand was available for each participant to hang their wreath on which would have been a great help from start to finish. Overall, I and my two relatives thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and were delighted with our finished wreaths. I bought the workshop as Christmas gifts for my two relatives which they thought was different from the usual smellies/chocolates and were delighted with it.

The lady hosting the workshop was very good and made it a very enjoyable experience. She was super kind and helpful, making sure the children all had a lovely completed pumpkin by the end of the session. She was super thoughtful when it came to getting clean at the end too and getting the crafts home in one piece. Thank you very much, she really made it a great session, she is a credit to hobbycraft and we very gratefully have some brilliant looking pumpkins on display at home now.

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed the Lino print class. We had never tried this craft so weren’t sure what to expect but were very pleased with it. When starting there was a large box to open which included the Lino print kit a jotter and large blank art book which was more than £30 worth of items. The lady who demonstrated the class was great she very clearly explained everything. We came away with a good couple of prints and the ability to do more at home. I would highly recommend this for adults but not children as the blades are very sharp.

Basically it was copy what you see on the printed sheet - not much teaching involved - would like to have been shown how to draw each letter - not even given a basic black pen and had to buy one after the session

Joanne, at the Silverlink store, was brilliant. I had a beginners Cricut session last week and then another Cricut session this week.
Both workshops were fun and informative and I went away having useful knowledge to get me started in the world of ‘Cricut’.
Feeling more confident in using my machine, I sat last night and made a jubilee t-shirt.

As a follow up to a previous workshop I booked this to understand some specific tasks I wanted to do but wasn’t sure about. The staff member was really friendly and enthusiastic and answered all my questions.

There was no opportunity to have a go at the sewing this time, maybe because the machine chosen wasn’t an equivalent to the one I have.

Being in the middle of the shop upstairs rather than in a quieter non public area wasn’t the best. I felt I learnt more and had the opportunity to practice and understand better (sometimes it’s through the doing you encounter the problems etc) in the previous session in Gateshead. This felt a bit more like a chat which I probably could have had on a quiet day rather than taking up a slot which are perhaps aimed more for first timers just the once.

Regardless of the above, the staff members enthusiasm inspired me to give my project a go back at home, with mixed results!

Fabulous class and teacher. Very patient as I have never done crochet before. Taught how to make bunting and provided with the full kit to make the project. The time went so quickly. Only managed to complete a small part during the class but given all the instructions and equipment to finish at home. We were even told if we get stuck to just pop back into the shop and ask for help. Will be looking at booking another class after I finish the bunting!

Excellent 1 hour quick guide course to Cricut explore 3 machine.
Course guide staff member Faye was friendly, polite and knowledgeable.
I managed to make a birthday card and a personalised make up bag to take home with me.
I learned a lot about the cricut programme and the cutting machine. Plenty opportunities to ask questions.

Today we did clay modelling. The teacher, Joanne, was fantastic. Really friendly and chatty.
The girls (7 and 4) were able to choose their own item to decorate and were given a pack of clay and lots of gems to decorate with. Once their item was decorated we had lots of fun making other bits and Joanne gave us lots of ideas of things we can do at home. It was absolutely value for money (and with none of the cleaning up)

I booked this for my 9 year old daughter who wants a sewing machine off Santa the class was perfect she really took everything in the teacher was fabulous with her really boosted my daughter’s confidence and thought her little hint and tips to help her remember things my daughter came away perfectly confident in threading up a machine and how to do a range of different stitches she was given guide material to practice lines on and even came away with a few to do at home I’d definitely recommend this class to anyone

Ellie was great and nice that it was a 121 tutorial. It was just something I’d need to keep practicing as the technical skill can be taught in the time frame

I thinking painting the baubles posed a challenge with the pen. Might be easier to not paint and just write directly on the baubles. I still think the effect would be lovely and will be doing this with my remaining stock

A lovely way to spend a Saturday morning! Very helpful instructor. Relaxed atmosphere. Just a shame the clay wasn't as good quality or as easy to work with as expected. It seemed to dry out quickly. I’ve used a nail file on them now they’re dry but still not completely happy with the finish.

The teacher was very good explained the workings of a sewing machine and allowed me to see on the machine . The shop was easy to find and free parking the environment was ok. Course very good for 5 pounds.

Attended the brush lettering workshop with my daughter and it was so good! The craft box we recieved was full of quality products and had everything we needed for the workshop. Ellie was a great instructor and very encouraging. Really enjoyed it.

My friend and I were really disappointed Effectively this was a kit this time, so quite prescriptive as to what you could do. The wreath was small too. Usually mark your workshops up as great value for money - NOT THIS TIME. The kit we were given is on sale at £10, even with Glue gun and glue sticks (which I estimate cost no more than £14) - yet was charged £35!
Faye, our Hobbycraft guide, was very helpful, and if she hadn't said we could have extra ribbon and a few other small things, then would have rated this event as Terrible.
Overall whilst I did enjoy the time, not as impressed with my wreath as previously - would not recommend this workshop to anyone.

Enjoyed Xmas wreath making workshop - teacher lovely. Could be a few more materials provided and would be better if foliage was real and not plastic. Did not think it was value for money - especially when the same kit - minus the small glue gun ? not sure - could be bought from the store for only £10 and workshop was £35.

I really enjoyed doing this class. The teacher was lovely, very chatty and passed on some good tips and techniques to get the best from working with the clay. The equipment box was really useful and made the cost of the course seem like very good value for money. I was the only person who turned up for the course which meant I had individual tuition but it would have been nice to have others to interact with and get some creative ideas from. This was not something that Hobbycraft could have planned for as 2 people who were booked onto the course didn’t show up.

We loved our craft session today. Teacher was wonderful, so friendly and helpful. All equipment was provided and we loved the therapeutic value of crafting. The final product was amazing. Will definitely do this again. It was great fun. Thank you.

Faye was a fantastic teacher, professional and knowledgeable. She made the session really interesting, gave lots of tips and was able to demonstrate how to make several items I was interested in making. The venue was great but I always love Hobbycraft anyway! I wasn't sure which Cricut machine would be best for me but Faye was able to explain the features of all the machines and which would be best. She also showed me all the materials I'd need for future projects. I bought the Cricut Air 2 and was offered the best bundle deal. Thank you so much and I'm really looking forward to trying out different projects :)

Our tutor was lovely and very encouraging. However myself and my sister paid £35 each but there were two others attending and only one of them had paid. Apparently someone at hobbycraft said the one who had paid could bring a friend

The teacher was very friendly and passed on lots of tips. There were only 3 of us doing the class(that includes the teacher). It might have been easier if we had a table each to work on. It was good value as you received quite a few quality items included in the cost. Would definitely do another class at Hobbycraft.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 121 session. Jan, my tutor, was fantastic. She was so patient & certainly knew her stuff! As a beginner with a new sewing machine, I was very quickly put at ease. We seemed to cover so much in the hour & I left feeling confident to continue sewing at home. Thank you. I think I may try another workshop soon.

Matt was a great teacher. He listened to the type of things I was interested in learning and gave me clear instructions, guidance and tips.

He also helped me think about other projects I could do in addition to the items I knew about.

So excited to go and practice on my machine now.
