Throughout the year, Hobbycraft host a variety of workshops in stores and online, designed to give everyone the opportunity to master a new craft or refine a long-time favourite. Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

Pals was a fantastic teacher at Luton, who was incredibly patient and had multiple methods for teaching. I've previously attempted crochet with other group classes but this is the first one where I have truly been able to pick it up. She is an asset to have working in Hobbycraft.

It was Easter holidays so we made an Easter bunny and sheep was a good bonding experience with me and my little one as we were both able to get involved.
This was our second class we already have another booked Lovely friendly staff in fact it’s the reason we booked the second class. I think these classes are a good way to promote home crafting for all ages. Definitely good value for money. See you again soon :)

We attended the Easter clay animals workshop with Renee. The children enjoyed the session Renee explained each step and showed how to blend colours together. The class was value for money and I managed to get 20%off. The venue was suitable too. We also bought lots of other bits from store to continue making animals at home!

My Daughter and I had a private lesson with Pal.My Daughter learned the basic stitches of crochet and I had help with other stitches. Pal is patient and very knowledgeable and so willing to help and encourage. We really enjoyed the class and will be booking another lesson soon.

i brought a private crochet class for me and my mum for mother’s day and it was really good.
We had a laugh and it was very enjoyable and the teacher engaged well with us and taught us some of the basic necessities. We got provided with 2 different bundles of wool and a needle and a booklet that we could take home and learn step by step from which was really helpful.
Would Totally recommend.
The teacher was so nice and caring and was a pleasure to just be there.

Even though the team were not expecting us they quickly sorted the kit, an instructor and and area for us to work.
They were very apologetic and within 10 minutes we were up and running.
Very enjoyable hour and a special wreath to take home and enjoy.

It was a lovely class. A wreath of twigs and a pack of dried flowers and grasses were provided. After some instruction we were then able to let creativity run wild! I really enjoyed the Spring Wreath making - very relaxing, good fun and a lovely result at the end!

This was very nice. My girl loved it. It did feel rushed though. Young children need more time than 30mins. My other child could not make the class and the host was kind enough to prepare all of the beads for her to make at home.

What a fantastic hour of crafting. It was my first ever workshop, Rene, our teacher, was really lovely and I really enjoyed meeting the other ladies who had booked. Thoroughly recommend it. Really helpful, learned what I was doing wrong and what was causing my machinr to jam. Definetely worth the time and money as the worker took it at my pace (I’m an absolute beginner) she helped me with everything I needed and more and gave me some extra tips aswell. This was an excellent class! I learned so much in only a hour, like working my machine and troubleshooting possible issues I may come across as well as how to sew a zipper into a bag. The instructor was friendly and knowledgable. She really took her time with me to make sure I fully understood what I was doing and how to best use the machine depending on my project. I would definitely recommend this class for beginners!

Such a lovely beginners crochet session with Paula today, who was very patient and knowledgeable. I found it much easier to get to grips when being taught in person rather than trying videos as I’ve done in the past. We went at my own pace and she was able to answer any questions I had. Lovely Christmas colours in my pack to take home. I was a bit nervous initially as I know the store can get quite busy however I soon forgot we were sitting at a table in the middle of the store as I focused on the crocheting. Think the only thing missing in session was a cup of tea and a biscuit would definitely recommend to anyone thinking about purchasing.

Last year when Laura ran it it was amazing and I re booked off the back of that. This year it was ok but there was zero direction from the staff to the kids. It was a bit weird as we wondered what we were supposed to be doing and consequently, especially with the first activity it just was a bit carnage. The second activity was a bit better but again very little direction from the staff the kids were kind of just given the craft stuff and left to their own devices. At one point I had to ask what we were supposed to be making. Anyway, the kids enjoyed it but next time get Laura back doing it…she totally got how to talk to and engage the kids.

I booked the Disco Bauble workshop for my children and their Home Ed friends. The process was fairly easy to do online, although the customer service emails they send out (I assume a third party support centre) are not helpful. Dealing directly with the store would be so much smoother. They could incorporate half past times on their bookings to offer more flexibility aswell.
On the day, the teacher Emily was lovely. Very polite and considerate of the different ages at the table. Engaging and ensured we all had what we needed throughout the session. We were due just to have one set of coloured gems for the craft but Emily had provided other colours which was much more exciting for the children (and they really appreciated it!) and made for much more creative crafting session. The children’s aged ranged from 2.5y-8y. We had 6 children total, had the class been any bigger the table would not have been suitable. It was a little tall for the children but they all managed well.
More of these style sessions please! I have no doubts we will be back again in 2024. Thank you Emily

This is the third craft workshop we have done at Hobbycraft and they never disappoint. We really enjoyed learning how to create a marbling effect on the ceramic baubles and Anna, the workshop lead, was knowledgeable and creative, suggesting different ways to get a good technique and to apply a nice finish effect. I bought a little tree to showcase my baubles which looks very pretty.

I had a fantastic one-to-one tutorial with Annie at Luton Hobbycraft on how to use a sewing machine. I also needed help to make a decision about which sewing machine to buy. As I am a complete beginner, I very much appreciated Annie’s friendly style and her pace of teaching. She was very patient with me and she covered all of the basics very comprehensively. I left feeling enthusiastic about getting started with using a sewing machine and with a very clear idea of which machine I will buy because Annie took the time to explain to me the specifications of several different ones.
My objectives for attending this tutorial were completely met.

Good facilities. Good amount of resources to use. Learnt how to use marbling ink effectively. We’re shown other resources for other marbling effects. Came away with six baubles, a small silver paint pot and brushes to apply a topping for each bauble.

I loved this class. It was so much fun! I was a complete beginner and my teacher, Palmera, was fantastic. My grandchildren enjoyed this project. The teacher (Emily) was very helpful and guided them when they got stuck and answered all their questions and showed them how to make this project. Lucia was extremely friendly, she made the class relaxing and very enjoyable. The kids had a great time, a very fun and simple activity that kept them engaged for ages. Definitely one that I’ll be doing again at home!

The class was okay. There were a few clay packets provided (not real clay) and we were given some examples of what to make and got on with it. Annie was helpful when asked something and polite. To improve this class there should be real clay and also more modelling equipment provided i.e rolling pins. Painting would have also added a nice touch to this class.

Fantastic workshop as usual. We've attended many Hobbycraft workshops and always have a positive experience. Paula was lovely and we enjoyed her hosting us. I thought the method for the woven pots was simple but still very clever and I wouldn't have thought it up myself.

Whilst the workshop was ok, a bit more direction or examples would have been helpful to give the kids ideas and maybe a bit of teaching. As it was, the kids were done in 15 minutes so definitely not an hour’s worth of activity.

We were hosted by Emily today and she was brilliant with my children. My son was having a bit of an off day so he was a little unsettled at times throughout the session but Emily was so patient and understanding. Whilst Emily made suggestions it was also open ended so the children could paint whatever they wanted.

Had a wonderful experience at the beginners crochet course, having tried to pick up the basics from YouTube unsuccessfully, it was totally different being shown in person
Paula was warm, patient and encouraging and we mastered three stitches and now feel confident to practice these techniques before hopefully progressing to actually making something. The class was on the shop floor, it was very relaxed and unhurried and I would definitely try a follow up class if one was available

My teacher Annie was great. She thought me how to thead a sewing machine, how to change the needle, how to fill the bobbin and all the basics for a beginner.
She made my experience so easy and non terrifying.
I was terrified with just the thought of threading my machine.

The 1:1 session was great, definitely worth my money as felt clear and and confident by the end. My initial goal was to find out which cricut machine would be the best for what I wanted and I walked away knowing the differences in all and even how to use the software, print and transfer, Verity was brilliant, did not feel rushed, answered all the queries I had, even if they were basic silly questions, gave some personal views on do's and dont's. Emily was lovely and very attentive and kind to my child. However, he was done within 30 minutes and the session cost £8 and we only had the canvas to take home. For that price, I would have expected the paints too. Alternatively, the class could've been for 30-45mins and cost less. But once again, Emily was lovely and my son had a great time

I went to Hobbycraft Luton for a Cricut workshop as I wasn't sure which machine is best suited for myself. Verity was amazing and gave me great advise. She had an answer for all my questions and made the machine selection very easy. She then demonstrated what certain tools and materials was used for. There was no hard selling which was great as that would certainly have put me off. She tailored the session for my need and offered lots of help.

Annie in the Luton store was incredibly knowledgeable - she had an excellent working knowledge of the available machines and provided a tailored session. We discussed the benefits of different machines as well as some top tips on the basics for the machine we were working on. As we had a little time left Annie taught me how to do a French Seam in a matter of minutes. Bonus points for the fun sewing test fabric sheet for sewing straight and curved lines! This session was fantastic value for money.

My teacher was lovely, great at picking up what to explain and what I already knew, answered all my questions and more, and was inspiring and encouraging. My children really enjoyed this workshop. They were really engaged and focused on the task. Rene was the member of staff who hosted it and she was really friendly and helpful. Once the children finished making a keyring she allowed them to make something of their choosing. I appreciated her letting them use their own imaginations as this added to the children's enjoyment of it.

This is a great idea & it was fun creating the baubles. However, as lovely as the Worksop teacher was, her knowledge about the workshop itself was limited. We were not shown what to do or given any live examples that could help us. The trainer ought to have been given the appropriate training to support with a workshop. Regarding the materials itself, there was very little decorations & ornaments and too many baubles, which meant some baubles were empty. Overall nice experience but with some tweaks it could be better.

This session proved excellent value for money. Held as a very small group, our instructor was clearly very knowledgeable as well as thorough and patient. She ensured everyone understood each step before moving on, and made sure each attendee got a chance to try every skill for themselves. My daughter has come away full of confidence and eagerness to put her new knowledge into action and get going creating. I have booked her onto a 1-2-1 session in a few weeks to learn some additional skills - she is really looking forward to it based on this experience!

Our only complaint was that it was freezing in store. It was actually warmer outside. It is much easier to operate a sewing machine when you don't have to keep your coat on!

My sewing get to know your machine was absolutely fabulous.
I was nervous before hand but app arrival that all went away quickly. Annie my teacher was very patient and friendly which made learning so much easier and was very thorough in teaching me. It was good to see all of what cricut is all about. The only thing that will need to improvement is that their WiFi connection. When showing us to get a cut and to print on vinyl the WiFi was not working, we waited for a long while but with no luck. This took up valuable time when we could be talking and sorting out other things.

I had a one 2 one with Annie and have to say she was great, really friendly and helpful. I got to use the machine that I had bought to that was great and her enthusiasm for the machine made me feel confident and at ease with the machine and I felt I had made the right choice in buying. She went through all the steps of setting it up including threading the needle and bobbing etc. she also should be different stitches and gave me some great tips on my fist sewing project. I just wish the lesson had been longer as I felt there was so much she could have taught me! Thank you Annie.

OMG! The best experience ever! I wasn't too sure on what I specifically needed help on but I knew I needed help! :-)
I was lucky that the workshop was run by an absolutely adorable young man and his mum came along and assisted (both work in the Luton branch, sorry I have forgotten their names!)
The tutoring was at the perfect pace for me and I was able to get all my 'stupid' questions answered without being made to feel stupid. We made a bag using the iron-on (that was supplied) and it was all explained easily. I was made to feel so comfortable, I will definitely book to do some more.
Definitely recommend this workshop to anyone who's questions were not dealt with through various YouTube videos (and I've watched 100's), one-to-one sessions is the way to go, brings on your confidence 100%! (Thanks Hobbycraft Luton! I'll be back

Imara was a very good teacher. She was very helpful, kind and polite. The venue was a lovely setting for the workshop and easy to get to. I liked the equipment that was supplied as it was easy to use. The workshop was excellent value for money. I learnt how to mix the paints together and how much quantity of pouring paint and coloured paint to use. I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and found it very useful. I will definitely be trying acrylic pour painting again at home using the equipment that I bought home and the pouring medium I bought after the workshop. I would like to say a great big thank you to Imara for taking the time to teach me the art of acrylic pour painting. I would highly recommend acrylic pour painting to anyone who enjoys art and painting.

I was very lucky to be in the class alone so had lots of time to ask questions . The kit provided is really good value and included two types of art book a set of pens and some labels too. There is a large alphabetical template to work from abs the pens are nice to use although I need pract. The tutor was very patient and helpful . An enjoyable hour Thankyou

Very enjoyable. Plenty of paints, wide choice of ceramics. Even got a cup of tea. Very good price. Assistant was very cheerful and attentive. 10 out of 10 for the whole experience.

Fantastic! This was excellent value for the cost, my daughter and her friends really enjoyed doing the ceramic painting. Plenty of paint, choice of item to paint and extra brushes provided. They all loved it and seemed to enjoy being sat in the store doing it whilst other shoppers wandered past.

My 7 year old son loved it. He was able to do it mostly on his own and liked all the different creative options. Our host was lovely and helpful too and really made an effort to chat to the kids. Great fun and value.

The teacher was excellent at art, very kind and very funny.
The venue is was nice and open.
We were provided with paint brushes, glitter glue, canvases, different brushes and markers. The kids learned about mixing colours. The class was excellent value for money and we would definitely recommend it for others.

My kids love the ceramic craft at Luton HobbyAndGraft store. The teacher (Ms Anna)was amazing today, she did a great job. The venue was clean and spacious and provided variety of material and tools for the craft. Very reasonable price for the workshop. Definitely recommend

We had Angela for the workshop. She was great at assisting us and was really encouraging towards the kids.
We loved the workshop and there was so much variety to choose from to make the Easter Bonnet Hat.

The teacher was very friendly and helpful explained well and made sure everything was understood and at the end if there was anything not understood. A takeaway sample pack would be la handy idea to practice lines etc.

The one to one one greet, the teacher, Lee, very knowledgeable and explained many things I couldn’t work out and now can Showed me layering and made a plague for me to take home. I told him I will probably be back when I get the next new cricut machine . He explained about different materials good and bad so know which are best to use fir different projects.
I would recommend any new user to book ca class .

Verity was great and patiently answered all my questions. It's a shame that the email before the class tells you not to bring your own sewing machine because it means I didn't really get to know MY sewing machine. You should be encouraged to bring it

The young man was friendly and very helpful. The one-to-one lesson was informative without being too complicated. The table where the lesson took place was in the middle of the store but because of the layout I didn’t feel as if people in the store were watching me. The card making didn’t go quite to plan but that made it more fun. I felt that I got value for money.

Lee was really helpful, knowledgeable. It's given me the confidence and knowledge i was looking for to come home and start to create more things with the Cricut machine. I was finding YouTube and other groups a little bit overwhelming and this one to one course really helped. I would definitely recommend and I'll be looking at attending other courses too in the near future.

LEE what can I say! If your looking for someone who is kind, understanding and very very patient then book with him, from the first moment if puts you at ease and makes the class about you and your needs. He is honest and will tell you if the project you have in mind is something for the future after gaining experience on the machine. He is happy to repeat something again if you {in my case} need to go over it again. You will come away with something that you have made, it may only be a card but its your work I made a Rugby picture for my Grandson.

Lee was a wonderful teacher, very knowledgeable and helpful. I am a total tech idiot and Lee was very patient and understanding. The work station was comfortable and clean, all materials were supplied and I left with a card made for my Grandsons birthday, and a booking for another lesson which I truly believe is outstanding value. I really enjoyed this and was pleased with the end result. The workshop took place in the store and I was the only participant. Hansa was great and we both had fun. She guided me through each stage, made me a great cup of coffee and even helped me take my work to the car.

We have been on a wreath making class today in Luton. We had a fabulous time I had never done anything like this and neither had my friend xxx We both came home with beautiful and unusual wreaths that are hanging proudly in our houses xxx The teacher was great she gave ideas but let us make our own decisions as to how they were decorated. She also made us some fab bows to finish them off xxx

KJ was very friendly. He went out his way to use the exact sewing machine to the one I recently purchased.

He was knowledgeable and went through all the parts of the sewing machine at a pace that I was able to understand and make notes.

I appreciated how he tested me on threading the bobbin and needle - practical helps you to remember.

Only issue I would raise, if a bigger group, the training is held in a quieter space, to prevent any interruptions.

We arrived at 10am on the 13th November for our clay Christmas ornament workshop. At first the colleague was unaware there was a class. Then we were informed the college who was taking the class didn’t start until 10:15am. They then informed us that our packages couldn't be found so we were provided with limited stencils and cutters from the shop floor which was mainly for one person. There was no real apology for any of these mistakes. The equipment they provided to accommodate this was only for 1 person not two. They weren't overly apologetic or accommodating for all these things that had gone wrong. There was limited stock for christmas shapes and stencils and stamps which limited what we could do. Once this had subsided the girl who took the class was nice and informed us of the drying time and paint to use. But I just feel the whole start to the day was poorly organised and resourced. I wont be rushing back or recommending .

Rene was absolutely lovely! We chatted like we were old friends. She was really knowledgeable too.
I felt a little self conscious at first because the table was in the middle of the store but I soon felt comfortable.
Opening my box of goodies was great - everything I needed was in there.
I really enjoyed myself.

Great class, my 6 and 8 year old boys really enjoyed it, and the teacher was really good and engaging with the boys.

The only issue was that some of the paints were dried up in the pots….apart from that it was a good session. Thank you.

Great little event, member of staff brilliant and choice of items also good My only remark would be the paints used weren’t washable and have stained my sons jumper he was wearing, it is be worth issuing disposable aprons or advising customers to bring one along.

Lee was fantastic. I wanted to lead as a complete beginner about the Cricut machines. I was shown each model and explained all the pros and cons of each one. He also showed me how the app worked with the machine and we even had time to create a little bit of craft using the machine. I’ll be back to learn more!

Enjoyable workshop that help me grow in confidence to try out different stitches.
This included having a go at sewing button holes, which I have been avoiding doing as was not sure how to do them. Turns out they are easier that I thought.
Has given me the confidence to have a go at other sewing skills with my machine.

I would like to say thank you to the teacher, who was able to help with any questions and guide you. The venue was good. All items needed were in a lovely box and we were given some very good ideas to take home and complete at home. My daughter was well impressed and brought the other colour scheme and some other items and went home and made another ten! Thank you to everyone who were very friendly. I would recommend the card making class to anyone who would like to start making cards.

Luc was really helpful and went out of her way to help my daughter who is 6. The rest of the staff were really good too offering beverages and also gave my 4 year old something to do during the lesson. I would highly recommend this workshop.

Holly was amazing at explaining how I would do certain things like layering etc! Materials were all provided. Members of staff walked past and were all so lovely and welcoming, I was offered a drink and was looked after by the whole team working that day. Thank you so much!
