Great beginners crochet workshop today. Chloe is a fantastic teacher. She was very patient and attentive with the 4 of us there, we were going at different paces but she accommodated this and answered all our questions. All the materials we needed were provided. I will definitely be booking for the next class!

I learnt how to make a Monster out of clay I had never used clay before.
Very good value for money.

Heather was great! V much engaged with my daughter, noticed she was a little bit slow to warm and continued to be encouraging and engaging. Heather made the session fun and quite happy that my daughter wanted to make her own design as opposed to what was being taught! I took my 3 and 4 year old and they loved it. My daughter loved mixing the colours together and seeing what it made. So proud they did a fab job.
The teacher was so patient and helped my little boy while I was helping my daughter.

Really good workshop and nice teacher. My only feedback was that they should have water to wash brushes or give each child more brushes as to clean them on tissue wasn’t that effective and very messy. Last time we did a paint workshop the lady offered for us to wash our hands whereas this time she didnt. Thank you

I had booked this with my sister and mum. Amelia was great. She gave us instructions and tips, but also just let us get creative! We had the wreath and a whole box of varied materials provided to decorate. There were also glue guns for us to use. The session was great value and very therapeutic. It was easy to do and each wreath was unique to us.

We went to the Easter bonnet craft session which was actually run before the shop opened. It was very enjoyable and my daughter had a fab time being creative. The teacher was very enthusiastic and approachable. There were so many resources to use and my daughter came away very happy indeed. Very worth it!

The materials provided were good. Plenty of glue for the glue guns. It was good value for money. Catherine the leader was great. She was there for advice/ support but was also able to evaluate that we needed very little, so let us get on with it.
It was quiet and relaxed, shop was closed which made it easier I think.

Half term activity for my 5 year old granddaughter. She absolutely loved it, just a small group of girls who all clearly loved crafting. Was a great crochet workshop for beginners. The venue was easy to find with great parking. Workshop was situated within 'hobbycraft', so it was actually a great setting with plenty of creative inspiration around. The teacher was absolutely fantastic and was able to teach me so much in such a short time, she was extremely patient, knowledgeable, and friendly. I left the workshop feeling confident and ready to apply my new crochet skills to a project. Would highly recommend this workshop!

The teacher, Chloe, was lovely and very patient. She explained and modelled until we felt confident. She was positive and encouraging. The facilities were fine and the materials good. This face to face class worked much better for myself and my granddaughter. There were only four people in the group but of very different abilities and actually being there enabled Chloe to give appropriate help to each individual. We thoroughly enjoyed it and I thought it was good value for money.

We did enjoy making the Christmas decorations, however we were disappointed we didn't have time to do all 3 decorations. We only managed to complete 1 decoration and had to take 1 home to finish off.

My teacher Heather today was so clear and showed how the Cricut machines work. She was so very clear in teaching and explaining how to design on the computer first. She explained what different vinyl and bundles are for. I was happy with my time spent in learning before purchasing in my Leicester branch of Hobbycraft.

It was a one to one workshop and Catherine the teacher was lovely. We had a great hour & I enjoyed learning about decorating my own Xmas bags & tags with the POSCO pen. The materials supplied were good, I even purchased another pen afterwards. I think the only drawback was the area where it was held was a little too small but that didn't matter to me as I was the only pupil but shoppers kept asking us for things which was a bit of a nuisance for Catherine but she handled them in a most professional manner. Even though we were at the back of the shop, we still attracted quite a bit of attention.

As a complete beginner to crochet, this workshop was definitely a little daunting! Thankfully, our instructor Chloe was incredibly patient, explained every step clearly, and provided visual instructions on paper as well. She helped each of us with every query, every missed stitch, every little stress that we faced as we learned a new skill. I soon found myself (mostly) confidently able to double and treble crochet, and I'm looking forward to trying different projects with these new skills. Me and my sister took the workshop in Leicester. The teacher was fantastic, friendly and helpful! We were really worried we’d make a huge mess but the teacher was so fantastic at showing us exactly what to. If we went wrong she’d help us fix it. We’re planning on booking the beginners quite to granny squares. The tools provided were lovely good quality wool. 100% recommend to anyone who wants to start croqueting

Had a great hour and half learning the basics of crochet. The double stitch and the treble stitch. The teacher was great, very patient and explained everything very well. We all received a goody bag with 2 balls of lovely chunky yarn a crochet hook and a set of instructions to take home. Overall a very relaxing experience.

Chloe was the perfect teacher, she taught me how to complete the square with clear instructions and showing each step. By the end I understood what needed doing and she just had to encourage me when I was doubting myself. I had the perfect granny square by the end. Would highly recommend.

The teacher was very friendly, and helpful . We liked being in the shop it has a nice atmosphere.

My young daughter and I took the one to one sewing course. Heather the teacher was so lovely. Really helpful, patient, kind and made the experience of learning how to use a sewing machine and the basics of sewing really enjoyable. She was knowledgable as well as engaging.

Tutor Heather was very knowledgeable with an easy friendly style. The area used was fine but perhaps a little small. Heather taught me how to undertake freestyle machine embroidery and the various decorative stitch controls and their range of uses. All the necessary materials were provided.
I took along my recently purchased Singer Confidence machine purchased from Hobbycraft which had proved troublesome. Almost immediately I was informed by Heather and the Manager Mark that it was a faulty machine ( which is very rare). Without any quibble it was replaced. Great customer service, and an enjoyable and productive one hour session, thank you.

Otherwise really good tutorial. Could have done with more time.
Annoyingly there were people that wanted to talk to the tutor which room up some time so would have been nice if extra time was added as a result

My friend and I really enjoyed the brush lettering class we attended. A pleasant hour spent learning a new skill. It's not as easy as it looks and will obviously take practice, as with any new hobby, which is exciting to do. The tutor Kayla explained everything so well and was very patient. It was good value for money and we were provided with all the equipment needed which we could take home to practice with. I felt an extra 15mins would have been beneficial as it was a bit rushed at the end but we now have the knowledge to continue learning. With many thanks Kayla. Julie

The children thoroughly enjoyed the clay pot workshop. This is our second clay workshop however, completely different end product and the children learnt how versatile (and fun) clay can be. Katherine is a great instructor, this is the second workshop she has led that the children have attended and they really enjoyed working with her. All of the workshops have led to the children continuing what they’ve learnt to get creative at home.

I can not fault the workshops with Hobbycraft Leicester and the staff are never anything but kind, friendly, professional and knowledgable.
We purchased the workshop as a gift for my nephew also and all 3 children (10,9 & 7) loved the workshop and the canvases have pride of place in their rooms.

Have just had a one to one with Heather who not always has a smile on her face, but also has the patience of a saint! I havent touched a sewing machine since I was at school over 45 years ago, but by the end of the session, I knew all the settings on my machine and was sewing not only in straight lines, but had learned to turn corners and even how to sew a circle (a loose description of the shape if Im honest)! She was full of useful tips and once Ive mastered the basics, I will be booking again for a bit more advanced stuff.

I booked this workshop for myself and a friend as a birthday gift at Hobbycraft Leicester. I liked that it was a small group and Sally - who led the workshop - was great fun and very knowledgeable. I loved that she explained everything very clearly and described the techniques used. The materials received in the kit were fab, both in quality and quantity. I found the session very therapeutic and felt very proud of my artwork as did my friend!

It was a stand in teacher, and as the time had moved there was only me turned up so I had private tuition! This meant I could go exactly at my pace, was a good session, I enjoyed the practice in situ and - because of the excellent pack I got to bring away - I am able to continue at home. (Just been out and bought some different brush markers!)

Wonderful workshop with Fleur and my 6 year old learning how to set up her first sewing machine and some basic stitches. The workspace with great with good quality materials. Heather was lovely but the internet connection was not good. It took a long time to go through just a few app things. I felt I didn’t really learn much about the actual Cricut machine and its abilities demonstrated.
I thought the hour would be to show me how the machine does various tasks literally not just a verbal lesson.

We really enjoyed our clay workshop at Hobbycraft Leicester today. Katherine was very friendly, knowledgeable and encouraging. We learnt lots of easy but effective techniques and came away with beautiful hand made star tags to use at Christmas. The materials provided in the kit were fantastic value for money alongside the teaching and we have plenty of clay leftover to continue crafting at home. Katherine has inspired a love for making with clay and we're looking forward to making some of her suggestions in the future.

The materials was really good, they had so many and could make as many as they could in the time which was great.
The teacher was enthusiastic but a little strange - she did say a few odd/inappropriate things. Including ‘the last time I gave glitter to a hyperactive child’.
I expected the table to be in a separate room but was right near the door in the shop. I’d try another course as for the materials was great.

Heather was amazing and very informative. She showed us each step and the different things infusible ink and the heat press can do.
The only bad thing was the IT side the technology wasn't working as it should but Heather still made sure we got the most out of the session despite this setback . I definitely think new technology for them to use would improve things even more and make their job a lot easier I would definitely recommend the infusible Ink session.

Katherine, our teacher, pitched the lesson perfectly. We were given a variety of techniques to try and we each finished with a set of stars successfully completed.
The materials given were generous and of good quality.
We were a group of three which meant that Katherine had plenty of time to give to each of us.

The children had a fun session today. I didn't here her name but she was very friendly and engaged the children. The class was for an hour but this amount of time was excessive fir the task. All the materials you needed were to hand, just a shame there easnt anything to put the wet pumpkins on other than a hobbycraft plastic bag. Maybe a board would have been an idea.

I'm really glad I went on this little, Get to know your sewing machine course. Fantastic value for money. Although I have used a sewing machine before, I have never owned one and am not really confident with all the buttons and dials. The young lady who helped me (so sorry I didn't get her name) was very knowledgeable, patient and helpful. Gave me lots of advice and little projects to do. I even learnt how to make a button hole I would highly recommend this course, if you are a novice and want to get used to your new sewing machine.

Class started 10 mins late and ran over by 30 mins. Teacher was flustered and didn’t seem overly confident at first but this improved slightly. Pace needed to be quicker but the skills were good and the pack was nice. Would have been better if the pack had included a black brush pen. Overall a nice class but room for improvement.

I had the best hour spent with Heather at the Thurmaston store. Heather had some amazing tips and totally got what needed from the session
She took me back to basics with regards to setting up my machine and I feel so confident and already have my first project ready to go. I couldn't believe when Heather said we have 15 mins leftwhere did the time go?
It was a great 1 to 1 experience and total value for money. I really would like to do another session and will look to see if there is one running.

We had a great time at the canvas painting session today. The teacher kept the kids going at the thurmaston store. All the paints, brushes, sponges and canvas were provided. All in all really good value for money and already looking for our next session.

I met my instructor in store and she was very pleasant and welcoming.
Being completely new to using a Cricut Joy, I did find the session quite confusing at times. Practical demonstrations - eg using the actual type of machine that I had bought, and showing me it’s different functions, would have been really helpful, rather than just getting a theoretical description.
Also, it would have been great to perhaps have had an illustrated handout to take away with me.
My instructor was very knowledgeable and I asked her a lot of questions, all of which she was able to answer, and very patiently! She gave me a few important tips on the correct products to use, such as Cricut’s own brand pens etc.
However, I think examples of the different products I could use with my machine, such as pieces of all the vinyls and papers, as well as the mats, the pens and the nib, would have really helped, rather than walking up and down to find packaged products that were out on display.
Also, it would have helpful to be given some more suggestions/ideas about what applications I could use the Cricut Joy for - other than card making or labels. I was asked what I wanted to use it for and of course as a complete beginner, I really didn’t know!
The software side was explained in more detail to me, including showing me how it looked on a laptop. There was a huge amount to take in and I hope I can remember everything, alongside my notes.
Two things that did grate a little with me were, the repeated clock watching and time checks - it was made very clear that I would literally get exactly one hour of tuition.
The second thing was that I was made to feel that the Cricut Joy I had bought was very inferior to the bigger and more expensive versions. It was repeated a few times that the Cricut Joy could not do, nor did not have, an awful lot of different functions. It would have been far more professional to have said something along the lines of, this is the perfect machine to start with etc etc.
As an arts and crafts college tutor, wanting to start using and experimenting with a new type of product for my own personal use, I hope this constructive feedback will be helpful to Hobbycraft and other Cricut beginners.

Sophie, our teacher for the session was amazing. She talked to all the kids, supporting them with rhe project and keeping the motivation up. She is an asset to hobbycraft and very good with the kids. The location was very good and the session was just the right length before my 5 year old grandson started to become distracted. The item he made will make a wonderful keepsake. I had a very enjoyable time learning paint pouring. The staff were excellent, very friendly and answered all my questions. I was the only student so a very special experience. From no previous experience (I didn't do art at school) I now have a "masterpiece". Two techniques were taught and others were discussed. Plenty of materials were provided to make four more masterpieces (including a larger one). Excellent value for money and for a first try, much better getting immediate feedback than a youtube video at home.
I would definitely recommend, and I intend to also do other Hobbycraft courses in the future.

Michaela was my tutor and was so very informative and helpful. I had a little bit of knowledge of my Cricut Maker 3 and Michaela was willing to answer my queries on how to use Design Space, as I already had some idea with some of the features. Excellent assistance. Don't let her go, she is a golden asset to your company. You might want to check your online booking as my confirmation email told me I didn't need to take anything with me when, in fact, I needed pen and paper.

The class was really good for a beginner, like myself. It will take practice to perfect the pressure of using brush strokes instead of a pen or pencil. The kit was provided and the tutor was very polite and helpful. There were just two of us in the class. It was based on a table at the front of the shop, as you walk into the shop, but on the side. We could see the customers doing they're shopping. But it was still private. I would recommend the class for a complete beginner.

The session was good. My children enjoyed it. I think the only thing which wasn’t great is that the children got a pre print canvas. My children where expecting a blank one to paint their own. However the teacher was ok. She tried to encourage the children to paint in the line and not praised them for their art they were creating as my children just wanted to paint their own canvases and not colour a canvas in. Loads of colours were available as well as glitter.

One to one cricut workshop session with Claire.
I’m new to cricut and met Claire in store when I went in to purchase some initial supplies, She was very knowledgeable and friendly. I have waited to use my machine until I was free to come and have a workshop session and was delighted for it to be with Claire. Well worth it, covered all the questions I had. And within half an hour of playing at home and on a mobile phone, I have converted a jpeg into an svg, edited, added text and I’m ready to make!

The workshop was amazing. Both of my children love it. Loads of material were available for them and Sally the teacher even got more material out for the children so they can have a wider range of materials to choose from. Sally was wonderful. She was amazing with the children and supported my little boy so I was able to help my older one and didn’t have to rush between them both. Sally gave us loads of ideas on what we can do with the materials. It was the best workshop we attended so far. Looking forward to the next one. Thank you and a big thank you to Sally.

This was the first Hobbycraft workshop I had participated in and I was very impressed. I had tried to book the previous weeks session but it was already sold out. However I was the only attendee on my session so was spoilt with a one to one session. I hit it off with the tutor Sally from the start and we chatted throughout. She demonstrated and explained everything clearly I was a bit slow but she was very patient. I had never made a wreath before and was very pleased with the result. The materials used were very good quality and I am delighted with my new gold glue gun. I just need to decide on my next project so I can use it again.

There were only me and my mum on the course and the teacher (think it was Chloe) was great. She was very patient and friendly and we both really enjoyed it.

The only negative was that the table where we were sitting was right near the door which opened regularly so it was quite cold (I had to have my coat over my lap). We understand the table used to be at the back but they were interrupted quite often. They’d taken steps to avoid that near us (team member stood near us to divert people away) but there was a biting wind every time the door opened.

Other than that we’ll be back to try something else soon :-)

Lovely friendly greeting. Contents box readily available, was provided with the equipment required, love how it's packaged and also the good provided. The tutor was very nice and I felt at ease straight the way. Demonstration and explination was easy to follow and feedback from my attempts were positive. The time went too quick. Very enjoyable and value for money. Only downside is that people shopping don't read the signage asking not to be disturbed, I feel this needs to be improved, possibly made larger and more visible

The teacher Mikala was great and put me at ease straight away. Demonstrated and then let me try sewing straight, reverse, squares, circles and then progressed on to a zip
I was shown all the basics of my machine, had all my questions answered.
I was given material to sew on and a few extra bits so was thoroughly impressed
I thought the venue was great as i forgot i was sat in the store doing the workshop

Teacher was knowledgeable, accessible and very friendly. I wish we had learnt more stitches instead of spending so much time drawing the pattern though.
Venue was not great as we were in the shop with customers constantly passing around us.
Material provided was good although a pair of scissors would have been useful. A summary of the stitches with a drawing showing what they look like would have been useful with the material provided.
Overall I am happy I went to this workshop but work needs to be done on the workshop space to make it more private/comfortable. Can't fault the teacher.

I was lucky enough to get one to one tuition from Chloe and she was absolutely brilliant. My pack was lovely with the wool, although I had no pattern but Chloe did photocopy it in colour for me. Because it was only me, Chloe sat next to me to make it easier for me to copy and see what she was doing & trying to show me.
I loved it. Could be a tad noisy at times but on the whole it was brilliant.
I obviously need LOTS more practice but the picture is all my own work.
I even had the Manager (Mark) making sure everything was ok and chatting to us.

As I was the only learner at this class I felt privileged to have 1 to 1 tuition from a lovely lady who really took an interest in my abilities. The hour flew by but I got a practice of every letter of the alphabet. Now I have to continue practicing those letters. I was also impressed with the box of items I received including paper and the brush pens.

My teacher was very friendly and knowledgeable, she conveyed the information in a clear and concise way and made me feel at ease. The teacher was very informative, the different materials used were varied and showed just what the machine could do. Overall it was very good, and I will be booking again for a different course in the new year.The only criticism I have is,I have a bad hip and found standing a bit tedious.

The kit comes with everything you need and a generous amount of festive figures for your filled baubles.

It’s a very relaxing class and will suit all abilities. You will very quickly create some cute and stunning festive baubles for your Christmas tree.

I attended a one-to-one cricut class at Hobby craft in Thurmaston Leicester last week.
Claire was my teacher and I cannot fault her. She is very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. I have never used a digital cutter before and by the end of my lesson I felt very confident.
I would definitely recommend anyone needing advice or knowhow to book a lesson.

Michaela was a very good teacher especially as I’m left handed but she was very patient. I think that the learning area was very public as people stopped and chatted to us which isn’t great when you’re trying to concentrate. Again Michaela was very conscious that she was answering queries in my time but you can’t ignore the customers. I thought the contents of the pack were very good. An hour is definitely not long enough especially for a beginner as we didn’t finish going through the alphabet and only managed to complete one ceramic decoration. It was a fun session to do. Thank you

The Christmas wreath making workshop was taught by Michaela who was a fantastic teacher. Great personality, ensured everyone was following and the speed of delivery was perfect. The materials provided were great and everyone ended up sharing and swapping pieces between us. Lots of fun.
The cost of the 1 hour session at £35, which included all materials including small hot glue gun was just on the border of acceptable. If this was any higher, I would not have been attracted to the course.
All in all, a great session, great staff and great start to the Christmas season.

Claire is so knowledgeable on the Cricut Maker, I don’t doubt I could have spent hours learning with her! Her tutorial was clear, well paced and was able to answer all of my questions and queries, including to do with model comparisons. She was able to explain the software, the equipment and all additional tools. Excellent class and excellent teacher. I went home and ordered a Cricut Maker, and I can’t wait! Definitely recommend

The teacher was great - friendly and knowledgeable. All of the materials, were supplied, including a glue gun and glue sticks, we only shared a pair of scissors on occasion.
The only downside to the course was it was held in store and a number of people interrupted the class asking for advice, products etc. Someone not involved in the class sat down at the table we were working on.
In terms of value, I was ok with the price, especially if the downsides can be rectified.

I took my grandaughters (6 & 8). To the new store at Thurmaston. We all had a great time. The gentleman who took the class was so lovely with the girls couldn't help enough. Half an hour was just the right for them. Would thoroughly recommend and will be finding out what other classes are on offer.

Excellent! We were welcomed by Sally who explained what she was going to teach us and all the equipment and tools. She taught the art of fluid painting extremely well and we came away with a good knowledge of the craft and the confidence to try ourselves at home. The venue was clean and well organised and located well in store. The workshop was for my 16 year old niece who thoroughly enjoyed her experience and was really impressed by the pieces she created and what she’d learned. All staff were very friendly and both myself and my niece would highly recommend this workshop - well done and keep up the good work!

Really enjoyable hour. Everything you need and more in the box. A lot that you can use in future, snow, hot melt glue gun and grass.
Came away with two complete winter cloches. Michaela fab. Showed us how to make up the cloches and suggested tweeks for the future. Instruction at a speed we could understand, not rushed. Would thoroughly recommend.

Hi the class was cancelled on the 7th October due to the lady who should have been taking the class had a bereavement in her family on the morning of my class So was not able to have the lesion. It was rescheduled for last Thursday 14th and I was very satisfied with the girl that took the class. She did her best
But I would like to say that the Manager for that morning of the 14th Of October time 9 am till 10 am was the time of the class in M/C was excellent very polite and helpful a credit to your shop in Thurmaston Leicester I was well impressed with his manner nothing was too much trouble and if someone could thank him for me I would be very grateful he put thing right I left the store feeling that the shop really cares about the customer I asked today at the store for Ben’s name as he was not at work. The teacher was really good and flexible to the learner, the venue was ok. I learnt how to do a number of things I had previously tried without success. I now know how to make my jam covers which Is great and card sentiments. It was the best value for money I have spent in a long time. I would like to do some vinyl next time. Thank you Claire.

The only thing was the time was too short. We didn’t even complete 2 cards before the time ran out. Make the course slightly longer please.

Could I suggest the next course each person is given their own ruler, pencil, scissors & cutter to use whilst attending the class. Very hard sharing with time so limited.

My daughter (9yr) attended the watercolour painting session with Loughborough staff member 'Sally'.
Sally was patient and kind at all times, she showed an interest in the children she was teaching and gave positive feedback to them all, boosting their confidence during the session.
It was a small session, just 2 children - but that was great for us. Work station set up in the middle of the store, but the children were able to concentrate and hear what Sally was saying so no issues there (a chair for the waiting parents would have been nice though).
The art materials provided for the session were excellent and my daughter will continue her canvas at home.
Would I recommend? Certainly. Would I try a different session? Of course.

A really good introduction to acrylic painting. It was a Fabulous session! Claire was a great teacher, everything was provided which we got to take home so was really good value for money.
My daughter got to learn some of the different techniques when using acrylic paint which has given her the confidence to continue at home.

My teacher Claire was excellent. Gave instructions clearly and easy to understand. Demonstrated herself by cutting out template of an envelope cushion and sewing it. She brought from home few cushion covers for me to look at and choose which one I wanted to make. I left knowing exactly how to cut and make an envelope cushion and feel confident I should be able to do this. I think this session was good value for money and will definitely book again and also recommend.

My two daughters, ages 8 & 11, attended this class today at the new Hobbycraft in Thurmaston Leicester.
The class was taught by Claire who was really friendly, encouraging & helpful.
Due to the local main road being closed, we arrived 10 minutes late, however we still got the whole one hour class which was much appreciated.
The girls both received a box full of painting goodies to open on arrival. This consisted of a set of acrylic paints, a canvas, 4 paintbrushes, A4 pad & a paint pallet. There are also printed instructions on how to create your artwork.
Claire talked the girls through every step giving useful tips & nice encouragement. The girls decided to save their canvases for a later date & chose to use a page out of their pads for their first attempts at painting a floral scene.
They came away with a lovely artwork & good new knowledge to carry on creating masterpieces at home!
Great value for money - I would highly recommend this class.
So pleased we now have a Hobbycraft in Leicester!
