Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

This was a very helpful and useful class. Within in the time we accomplished a variety of stitches and I was able to ask questions and the “how to do” questions I had before attending the class. Our tutor was so knowledgable and friendly and the hour and a half flew by.
Would recommend for anyone wanting to know the basics of crochet stitches, materials are all supplied.

Really friendly instructor who used lovely colours of yarn to use during the session. There was a younger girl there who needed a bigger hook and they catered for her with no fuss whatsoever. I even learnt how to make leg holes in crochet so I can make my cats some jumpers!

Training on Cricut maker. Instructor was polite, clear and helpful. She was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions on how to Cricut using card. How to slice, make a box, perforation and what blade and materials to use. Definitely value for money.

The only reason why I am giving it 4 instead of 5 stars is because the teacher was 30 mins late.
The actual class was great! Very patient teacher, very kind, knowledgeable and patient.
My daughter is only 11yrs old and was able to join in perfectly fine with the adults and has been putting what she learned in to practice ever since.
We'd definitely book in for another workshop.

I really enjoyed the workshop, the teacher was very friendly and helpful. It was good value for money and will definitely book another workshop and recommend it to friends. To possibly improve the experience it would have been nice to have a slightly bigger table and a few extra bits and pieces to use in addition to our boxed supplies. These are only minor as overall I was extremely pleased with my Easter Wreath.

Enjoyed my workshop today thank you. Unfortunately the cricut software in-store wasn’t connecting correctly to the machine when carrying out demos This was a little frustrating; however this wasn’t the assistants fault, and we did still manage to cover a lot of topics and I now feel confident about giving my cricut a go at home. Well done to the teacher and thank you for being so helpful and encouraging me to be inspired. You’ve shown me examples of your work and I’m looking forward to being creative.

Lovely activity that was great for both my children (4 and 6 year olds). They loved the chance to be artistic and pick how they made it.

Sophie was the teacher. Very nice lady, really clear with instructions and patient. Would have preferred a more secluded venue as we were on the shop floor which was distracting and it was a little bit annoying as the machine kept jamming. Overall though it was good value for money and would definitely recommend.

This was an excellent value for money session which included everything needed to actually make something. As there were just two of us it meant the teacher could pay close attention to our learning which was great! The teacher was incredibly patient and very knowledgeable. I will definitely attend another course. I want to crochet a granny square blanket for my granddaughter to be so I hope there is a ‘how to make a granny square workshop’ soon in Farnborough.

Sophie at Hobbycraft was the instructor for my daughters’ bauble marbling class today, she was really great and showed the girls what to do. Everything was ready and set-up for us. My daughters’ really enjoyed this workshop and had a great time with the marbling and painting with gold acrylic. It was good to have a bag to bring everything home in.

I’m so glad I booked this class. It was good fun and the girls made some lovely decorations for the Christmas tree.

Fabulous friendly and such a helpful tutor in Sophie. Chatted, laughed and crafted. It was great fun. The time shot by so will finish at home. Kit came in a box. Full of interesting goodies. Nice table set at the back of the store so out of the way of the customers. Thoroughly recommend this course. Suitable for older children upwards. As usual I had a shopping list to do after the class. Thank you to young staff member who handed me a basket and the lovely lady at the till. Farnborough is always a treat to visit.

We were so late due to traffic and they still let us do the activity and Ellie was amazing! So encouraging and calm, and clearly explained what to do. She was engaging as well and helped my youngest so I could concentrate on helping my eldest. They both really enjoyed it and loved having something to take home, and we bought some more clay as well so we could make more things at home. Thank you so much, it really inspired my boys!

There was only 2 of us, so the class was very really good, plenty of time to spend between both of us and time to go through where we were having issues. The lady teaching the class did not have experience of teaching a left handed person though, and since getting home and speaking to a left handed crocheter I needed to be doing it slightly different to how I was taught….but that said it was just one thing and the actual lesson and the stitches I was taught are good and sticking in my mind, much better than I have every progressed using online videos or trying to understand paper instructions, would definitely look at a intermediate class to add new bits once these have fully sunk in

Loved it. The time just flew by, I could have carried on for hours! The teacher, Sophie, was lovely and really helpful. I was surprised at the kit, fantastic value for money, with ceramic tiles, canvases and a good selection of paints. It can get a bit messy though plastic gloves were provided. I'd recommend taking an old apron. The classes are a great idea for Christmas presents.

What a fun session! My daughter enjoyed mixing and pouring the paints. I thought it was brilliant value for money. The course was cheaper than buying the kit itself and you got a set of coasters to paint aswell. We attracted quite a bit of interest in the shop and i'm sure other beginners will book on these sessions, particularly as the sets dont have instructions included. So its great to have a go with an instructor on hand.

I thoroughly enjoyed this class. Paula explained the process well in a friendly helpful way at a good pace and she was great fun. I was pleasantly surprised at the materials we were given and were allowed to take home with us. There were three of us and this was a nice number and worked well.

Sophie hosted a great workshop today. A fairly simple class, but a good introduction taster to acrylic paint pouring. In 60 minutes you’ll paint 4x ceramic coasters & potentially 2 medium sized canvas boards. An enjoyable afternoon.

My 6 year old really enjoyed doing this as he'd never used Hama Beads before. The teacher was helpful, but not overbearing, and let him decide what he wanted to do. You can follow a guide, or be creative and use your own idea. And it was great to get a pack to take home too. Lovely, affordable activity to do.

This was a great fun and informal workshop. Our tutor Glen was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The workshop was great value as the fee is less than the price of the materials and you get to take home the leftover paint etc. I would definitely recommend it, I think I am now addicted to acrylic paint pouring.

Sophie was friendly and put me at ease. She apologised for the training space and lack of set up like some of the other sites, also for being interrupted (it was clear there was a lack of support on the floor for customers to go to so would ask if the staff member they can see). She was clear on the set up of the machine, what could be used and differences to be aware of with material or thread and stitches. I felt supported when using the machine and on working through issues.

The workshop was great, I’m sorry I didn’t get the name of the instructor, but, she was amazing too. We were running late and only had just over 15-mins, however, with the instructors guidance my daughters were able to make a chick and a marble egg which looked really good. This clay is so nice to work with and has a brilliantly smooth appearance. There was some open clay left which we took home and the girls made another 2 Easter animals (another chick and a bunny). They had a great time and loved the activity and the things they made.

I have just got back from my first ever paint pouring tutorial and I absolutely loved it It ended up being a private session as no-one else had booked on, which was lovely as I got to try a few more techniques!

Both of my children had a fab time. Vicky at Farnborough was lovely. She was patient and calm. My daughter is Autistic and she interacted with her but wasn't persistent. She allowed her to reply if she wanted too but also didn't expect a reply. For my daughter this is great as she doesn't feel pressured to answer. The resources were good and they both loved having their art work to take home. The value of the session was great and we would definitely return.

I was a bit disappointed in the class.

Our tutor was lovely as a person but did not seem passionate for the craft. She did not look at our technique, helping and advising. We were just left to plot along. She simply sat there and did a letter on her sheet not explaining the techniques. I for one thought she herself was not a master of the craft and stepped in for someone.

I appreciate an hour is not long to master the skill but I was there to learn how to hold/angel the pen ect as a complete newbie to the craft. I left the class and went on YouTube at home and found better training material.

Before this class I wanted to do more craft classes with Hobby Craft such as crochet, however I am now doubtful that it will be engaging and actually leave feeling I’ve learned something.

Have spoken to Shelley on previous occasions so was glad to have her as my tutor today. I have used Cricut before but not using an iPad and it’s been some time since my last use. I really needed a refresher on how to use Design space with the iPad too. Shelley took me through the menu and explained again what each feature does and how best to use it. I had listed a few questions and she had no problem supplying the answers. We also looked at how I could use Procreate ( another software) to interact with Cricut so that was very useful. Shelley explains things well and is very patient when I needed clarification. She is an excellent tutor and is full of advise. Always pleasant and welcoming. I was a little disappointed with this workshop after the fantastic one last year. I realise this is reflected in the price (£5 this year £15 last year) but the children had a large pack of item that they could take home with them (last year) also the lady that ran the workshop didn't really engage with the children this year.

The teacher was extremely friendly and encouraging. She explained everything step-by-step using demonstrations. The venue was well-equipped although being in a central point of the store meant that the teacher was interrupted several times by other customers. You receive a huge amount of materials for the price which means you can continue practising for no additional cost and the materials were high-quality (e.g. DMC thread). The only thing missing was an additional thread in a white colour for the mistletoe design. I really enjoyed learning a range of different stitches and building my confidence. I am normally a cross-stitcher and have always been a little intimidated by embroidery but this was the perfect introduction that also resulted in some cute little Christmas presents!

The lady who took this workshop was lovely but had not done one of the wreaths herself in preparation and literally read the instructions to us. We could have done it with the kit on our own so paying for tuition was a complete waste of money. We met a member of staff who showed us a halloween wreath that she had made from a kit. Why did we get an instructor who knew as much as we did - nice as she was? Not good value for money and I would not recommend - nor will I be attending another workshop with Hobbycraft.

hi, we went to Farmborough shop and the venue was in the middle of the shop, a bit on the way for everyone, but the kids didn't care about that :)
The teacher was ok, very patient maybe the class wasn't as structured as I thought it will be, but I would still come again.
It was a good activity for kids, and they could interact between them too.
The provided materials were fine for us, but one girl had to use the materials that the teacher used as an example.

This workshop was a great taster to see how to do paint pouring. The kit we were given was brilliant with all the colours plus cups, spatulas, gloves and canvases. The tutors showed us how to pour different ways for different results and then we were able to try ourselves on 3 pours. I loved being able to use the colours in various combinations and was pleased with the results. My only issue is the lack of space around the table we were using in the middle of the store so other customers had to squeeze by. Otherwise I would really recommend this to get an idea of how to pour and mix and use the silicone oil. Loved it!

My daughter had great fun and produced some fab clay monsters with Paula working with her. We are looking forward to later in the week when we have another class!

Fran (the teacher) was amazing, she was very supportive and guided the children through the activity.

There were ample supplies of different coloured tissue paper and decoupage glue.

What would have been helpful would be to have easy ways to hold the pumpkin to better decorate (maybe a removable handle or something). Also, maybe having pre-cut/torn tissue paper ready to save time.

Overall, the children really enjoyed this activity.

Table used for classes was still covered in shop stock and not wiped. Fran was good and talked through the equipment we were using. Disappointed that everything we were using was not in an individual box like the last one I did. We were handed all the bits. The company had not supplied the star cutters as advertised which meant we could not make the ones in the advertising so did not get the full benefit of using the tools. We were given some by Fran from stock but these were plastic. She made the best of what she had.

This was a brilliant workshop, the employee was jolly, friendly, had my autistic son laughing and participating, he loved every moment. There is no hard sale of products either which is a bonus, but the items were cheap to buy. It has improved his confidence and we can't wait for more.

Excellent teacher, shame she could not use some images on design space as Hobbycraft had not paid for this. Wish the teaching area was separate from the retail area but understand that this would up the price. Will be booking on future courses for my Cricut machine.

Our teacher was lovely and very helpful, the kids were instantly at ease with her. The children enjoyed their session and all came away with their paper mache animals happy with the end result.
The craft area was clean and tidy, but it is quite small compared with other branches nearby and is in the middle of the shop.
For the price (which is much more than previous to COVID) I did expect the children to have individual kits, but unfortunately that isn't the case. I have other sessions booked so I'm hoping that may be the case for these.
I would still recommend these workshops for other parents to fill out the holidays, particularly if they lack space to craft at home

I loved my introduction to a sewing machine workshop particularly as I was the only one there so it was very personal. Maybe a bit self conscious in that it was in the middle of the store so customers would interrupt but exactly what I needed to get me started with a machine I have at home & have never used! I’m excited!

I met with Shelley at 9.00am as arranged at the Farnborough store. Shelley answerd a number of question I posed regarding the merits of both Cricut Maker3 and Camio4. I am particularly interested in seeing how well Maker 5 could cut natural wood veneers. Shelley then attempted to comence the demonstration but unfortunately the store internet was down and the demonstration had to be abondoned.
On the strength of the answers to my questions I took a risk and purchased a Maker 5.
I have since managed to cut veneers on the machine and have satisfied myself that it should meet my requirement once I have got mto grips with Design Space. I would undoubtedly benefit from a session with Shelly reqarding the use of Design Space.

Shelley did her very best to answer my questions under difficult circumstances, the fact that I bought a machine, without seeing it demonstrated, perhaps says it all.

I booked the workshop for my 12 year old daughter to learn how to use the new sewing machine she got for her birthday. Charlotte had actually helped me choose the sewing machine initially when i'd come into the store, so I was really pleased to learn she ran workshops.
As expected, Charlotte was brilliant with my daughter and made the workshop fun. She was really informative and guided my daughter through the set up, until she felt confident doing it by herself, and then spent time letting her use the machine with some practice fabric.
My daughter left feeling really confident, came straight home and hasn't stopped sewing since!
I wouldn't hesitate to book another workshop with Charlotte in the future!

Overall the session was good, however I guess as a cost saving exercise a canvas bag was reused (already had infusible ink pattern on it) and the ink sheets came out a bit wishy-washy so didn't really sell the product to me. Also we didn't use the infusible ink pens on a coaster

The young lady we had was very sweet and patient and good at what she did. We were given time to try the letters and she gave encouragement when needed. She was happy to keep repeating letters so that I could work it out. This was carried out at a table on the shop floor which was fine as there were only two of us. The kit we were given contained everything we needed and was presented very well. We were told we could use the Hobbycraft blog to get
more information if needed. Personally I think it was good value for money

I really enjoyed the Brush Lettering class. The teacher was upbeat and explained each step clearly. It will obviously take practice to master the craft well, but I felt it was easy enough for beginners to follow the lettering. My Lesson today was Amazing, I was shown all different types of materials that I could use and the correct way of utilising all the different ways I can do my Projects, I was shown design space which was very helpful as a new beginner and some tips and tricks which I plan to use.

I am really looking forward to my next one on one session where I will be doing embossing and engraving I plan to do as many one on one sessions as I can to be able to utilise my machine in the best way possible

The demonstrator Shelly was excellent. She did a good demo and was able to answer my questions. One problem occurred when a shopper questioned Shelly about the Cricut. She dealt with it very well. This could be avoided if demo area was in a dedicated area away from other shoppers.

Not really suitable for someone who has never crocheted before. Even the tutor said that the bunting was a difficult starting point for a beginner.
However, I enjoyed the social aspect and would try a different class.

Our instructor was lovely, and there were only three of us so we were all able to have help which was essential with this course. Having only dabbled in crochet I thought I’d do better but I found the bunting course too hard. In the end we asked to be shown how to make squares instead, bunting can be after we’ve learned the basics!

I was the only person booked onto this class so was fortunate enough to have a 1:1 tuition! Sophie was lovely, very patient and helpful as it took me a while to get the hang of it. I didn't manage to really finish much at all in the class as I kept getting a bit confused and needing to undo/redo things which was frustrating. Sophie helped me out carefully every time though and made me feel a bit more confident when I did then slowly catch onto it!

Would definitely recommend this for beginners :)

Really enjoyed my one to one. Although I use my Cricut regularly to cut vinyl and cardstock, I wanted to learn how to make stickers. After my session I was very confident I could make some and I have managed produced stickers with ease. Thank you.

I booked the one to one sewing workshop for my 12 year old daughter. We bought her a sewing machine for Christmas. She wanted to learn how to thread the machine and how to sew materials together. She was taught how to do this by her tutor Sophia, who was very good with her and she had excellent knowledge of how the machine works. My daughter really enjoyed the lesson and feels confident to sew on her own. I would recommend the workshop, as it was organised and they provided a great service.

Excellent teacher, but the class was a little rushed. We were definitely "encouraged" to finish up promptly. I would have liked an extra 15 minutes. The kit is OK but with a few thoughtful tweaks would be perfect. For example - a pot of pearlescent white paint would be more Christmassy than silver, and the snow powder is not easy to handle - perhaps a different sort of fake snow with larger particles? However, it was a fun way to spend an hour with my sister and elderly mother, who enjoyed getting out. I would have bought a few more globes to make at home by my local Hobbycraft had sold out.

My husband and I enjoyed the class but found it a bit distracting being in the middle of the class where a customer interrupted the instructor twice, ignoring the sign there!
The instructor Sophie, was pleasant, patient and encouraging. She shared a few useful tips.
The pack had all the items to decorate the crackers. We thought the pen colours could have included red and green as they are traditional Christmas colours. Perhaps there could have been a pair of scissors each and a ruler each on the table as they are fundamental crafting elements. The workshop gave you an opportunity to either explore your own ideas or reproduce the suggestions.
The items provided made it a reasonable value, but I wouldn’t be able to afford to do many more, despite being interested in developing my skills.

The teacher was great and patient she was very clear and answered my questions even when I interrupted her flow
The location was good, although luckily it wasn't busy so not too many other people around
The iPad and software that was used was very slow but we got there in the end
The class was good value it was a one to one session so I had complete attention all of the time
I had bought a Cricut machine in the Hobby Craft black friday sale and wanted to know how to use it

Has a fabulous 1 to 1 workshop at Farnborough to go through basic Cricut Maker uses. I have been to nervous to use it but after that session have made 30 Christmas cards and feeling much more confident. Practice makes perfect so can’t wait for the lull between Christmas and New Year to play around

My daughter was very anxious about this session but Alicia was an amazing teacher, she was very kind, friendly and patient with such energy that she had a great time creating fluid art. I was surprised by the amount of materials provided and would definitely recommend this course!

Roxanne was brilliant! It was just me and her and she made it a very enjoyable morning. I craft already but did learn some hints from her. The venue was fine (inside the store).
The kit is lovely & really good value when you get it as part of the course. I would have liked a little more colour added in, as it's quite beige & the pens do not really stand out too much.
Would recommend it as it makes a nice change, especially if you meet Roxanne (Farnborough) as she made my morning!

Whilst the tutor was very lovely, there was limited instruction. There wasn't sufficient space and there were no facilities to wash the paint off your hands. It would be helpful to advise people to bring an apron and it'd be helpful to have somewhere to let the art dry in store ready for collection at a later date.

Attended the workshop with friends. The kit came with everything you needed. The host was very helpful and willing to get items from the store if required. Great time was had by us all, will definitely look for further workshops.

I had a brilliant workshop!
I wanted to start right from the beginning with all the basic things, as I had not used a machine for at least 40 years!
My teacher was very good, answered all my questions.
I was able to use the same machine that I had at home
which made things so much easier.
I have mentioned to my friend how good it was, and she is going to book herself in for the same workshop.

Great value for money from a knowledgeable trainer, who was happy to answer any cricut craft related questions. I have a Joy and we made and applied a two colour iron on image using the maker. On her recommendation I have now bought a maker and will book more lessons. Thank you Paula.

Paula at the farnborough store was an excellent teacher and a credit to your team. This was my first workshop and to find out it was one on one when I got there was even better. Paula was informative, knowledgeable and a genuinely lovely person. She was So helpful with any questions I had! I would definitely attend another workshop with hobby craft after this.

Sophie the teacher was brilliant. She went through the contents of the craft box at the beginning of the hours tution and gave clear concise instructions on how to fill the baubles and cloches. The hour flew by with lots of laughter. £25 for the workshop and craft box is excellent value for money.

I was very impressed when the tutor gave me my box as it felt like Christmas had come early. The tutor introduced herself and explained that it was her first workshop. Jenny (the tutor) was very helpful and encouraging. I really enjoyed the course now I am going back home to try and see if I can make some more.

I also did not realise that I could keep the material etc.

Paula was absolutely fantastic!
She is very knowledgeable and professional.
She took the time to listen to any problems I was having with design space.
We made a neon funky pumpkin and she gave me so much confidence to just go ahead and try.
I would definitely recommend the workshop and it’s such a reasonable price. Money well spent!
I will most certainly be visiting your farnborough store again.

Paula from the Farnborough store was so friendly and knowledgeable about all the cricut machines.
She was great at helping me to choose the right machine for what I wanted to use it for.
We had a go at making personalised gift tags, and actually went through the process from the start of the design to the finished product, with some for me to take away.
This service was great value for money, would definitely recommend.

Recommend you take apron along with you as can get a little messy.

Materials for my 2 projects were supplied in store & I was able to take home the finished pieces. I was able to find the materials in store I needed to continue future projects from home.

Great workshop, already for me when I arrived. Answered all my questions and felt comfortable asking questions, very knowledgeable about the cricut machines.

Alanis was a great support and showed the girls lots of techniques on making the painting look good. The materials are all really good quality and value. It felt great to come back into store for a workshop after such a long time. The children had an amazing time. Alanis was very patient when some of the other children were not taking it seriously enough.

My daughter had a great time in Hobbycraft, Farnborough. Alanis was our wonderful teacher and she learned all about acrylic paints and how to use them. We got a fantastic set including paints, brushes and a pallet pot to take home with us as well. Great value for money. Thank you.
