Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

The session was enjoyed with a piece at the end that was proudly completed. The person leading the session was friendly and helpful. The class itself was nothing like the title or description. It is called a Printmaking Workshop and the description states ‘using print techniques, creating unique floral designs….with an expert Hobbycraft colleague on hand to guide them through each step. They’ll use learn how to make their pattern by cutting shapes out of card and using paints to start printing onto canvas.’
There were foam printing tools to create a picture but the description states that this is a workshop where step by step guidance is given cutting shapes to create a floral picture. Scissors and card were not available during the workshop. The title and description of the workshop needs to be changed to reflect the actual session offered.

We booked a private session for the Easter bonnet making workshop as something a bit different to do in the school holidays. The girls (ages 4-7) all loved it, there were so many different materials for them to use and Amanda (our host) was brilliant with all of them.

A great fun class where the children could paint what they wanted to. A couple of examples were shown if they wanted to copy them. There were gems to add too. Lots of paint colours, brushes and stampers available. An hour was plenty of time. Amanda was great and very encouraging. Would recommend.

My kids enjoyed it and your member of staff was lovely she explained the steps very well but I thought it was rushed as it’s only for half an hour. I think it will be more beneficial for all to make the session 45 minutes instead to allow more time to explore with the material

We were looking for an Easter activity my daughter loved crafting with clay so thought this would be perfect. Our teacher was really lovely, super friendly and helpful. She gave lots of praise to the children and walked around engaging with everyone. She also answered our questions about the clay we were using. There was plenty of space to do the activity and lots of colour choices of clay. I think the workshop could have been longer; after a demo on how to use the clay, we only had around 15 minutes to get crafting. I think the workshop was expensive; we saw the price of the clay was £1 a bag and at £5pp, it didn't seem massively great value in terms of how much we used. If there were time to make 2 within the time given, that would have been better. On the whole, it was an enjoyable experience and my daughter loved it.

I'm so glad I did this workshop! After trying and failing multiple times at my attempts to crochet, Lisa at the Chelmsford branch, has me crocheting I was taught how to get started, 3-4 of the basic stitches, how to finish off and the terminology and how to understand patterns. Materials provided were great and I was able to take them home with me, along with information sheets on everything I learnt. Really great value for money. Would definitely recommend!

Loved the star wreath making course today at Chelmsford. Big table with plenty of space for 4 of us to work on. The teacher was brilliant, very encouraging and helpful. Gave us some very good useful tips too. The kit contained plenty of greenery to form a base and some fab orange slices which smelt so good, and a cone and some hesian ribbon to complete the look. We easily made a beautiful wreath in the hour. Really, really pleased with the finished result.

Lovely class, our teacher Lisa G (Chelmsford) was great, very patient and helpful.

The activity itself was very simple and a little bit monotonous for my four year old (I had to finish it) but she really enjoyed what she did do.

It would be nice to have something a little more challenging. Much preferred using the clear Pritt PVA glue than the white stuff!

It also was tight fitting the whole activity into an hour. But Lisa G was very patient and let us stay on a bit extra to finish.

Was a nice touch having something to bring it home in.

Amanda was our teacher in Chelmsford and she was fantastic. My kids (6&2) sat down at the table with all the tools needed to make their pumpkins. Amanda was encouraging and helpful. We loved the glue so much we bought plenty for our home crafts. It was our first workshop and it definitely won't be the last. We all had a wonderful time

I thoroughly enjoyed the class. The trainer was excellent, she explained and demonstrated each stage really well, so I could follow and she gave plenty of time to practice.
I came away feeling confident to continue and started a piece of crochet when I was home, I remembered how to do the stitches. The instructions provided are great, easy to follow.
The venue was good, we didn't get disturbed by shoppers. The materials provided are great quality too.

Only one little annoyance. Lisa kept being asked questions by customers. There should be a notice up, not to disturb staff while they are teaching. It really interrupted our class. Wasn't Lisa's fault, she was just being helpful. Apart from that I would highly recommend the course.

The materials provided are good quality and helpful to practice the technique. The workshop leader was knowledgable. However, I felt she could have provided more help. Also we did not get the opportunity to practice different styles. Something we were told at the start of the hour or explore the decorative element.
The execution of the workshop did not live up to the reviews. This suggests a variation in quality depending on where you live.

Fantastic class at Chelmer Village in Chelmsford. Lisa was fantastic, clear and went at my pace. At the end of the hour she needed to explain one more thing so carried on for 10 minutes. I doubted if I would be able to master Design Space but feel really confident now. I can't recommend Lisa too highly.

What a lovely course. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I had no previous experience so I was a bit nervous. It was explained in simplistic terms by a lovely patient lady (Sorry I forgot her name) T I came away with the confidence that with a bit of practice I will hopefully master it. Great value for money. Included was a goody bag with two large balls of wool and a crochet needle.

Booked thus for myself and my daughter who is 11 as we both struggled to learn to crochet.
The booking was very simple and easy. When we arrived at the store it was easy to find where the class was being held. The teacher was very helpful and had lots of time to help us all individually when we got stuck. She even took the time to show us some tricks and tips to helps us for future projects. We learned 2 stitches during the lesson and were provided with 2 ball of wool, instructions, and crochet hook all in a bag which we were included in the session. I have to say I was very impressed with the whole experience and will be looking to book more sessions in the future to learn new crafts.

We are so happy with this class the lady was very welcoming and helpful. My nearly 10 year old loved creating his own creation from the clay including a lady bug, football heart that he finished at home he made a charmandwr from Pokémon. Great use of colours and very helpful supportive lady collecting the colours and providing lots of praise. We have booked every year something different and it never fails to keep my son fucused and fully engaged. We love the craft sessions as it limits technoligy and allows time for a creative spark to flow! Good for all ages. My toddler enjoyed feeling the texture of the clay and squishing it pinching and trying to roll it. We spoke about smell too so allows the senses to really open.

The one to one class was really good, a lot of ground was covered in the hour. The teacher was able to answer my questions with ease and its made me more confident to use my Circut machine at home with the tools in Design Space. I’ve just had a wonderful session at Chelmsford Hobbycraft. The tutor was very patient & established my capability very early in the lesson. As I was the only attendee, Lisa was able to move me on and answer my questions about pattern reading.

I loved my paint pouring session today.
Teresa was very welcoming and easy to talk to.
I received a box of paints with pouring cups and accessories together with a framed canvass and 4 boards to use in my own time.
I had plenty of paint left over to work with at home. Teresa explained everything really well and was very patient.
I definitely recommend the session as it was great value for money and good fun.
I did two pieces and was really pleased with them both.

Lisa explained the method of writing very clearly and we practiced writing some of the letters that would be most useful for the baubles, and some general festive decoration.
I completed 1 bauble and started another to finish at home. The kit contained baubles in 2 sizes, pens, letter examples and a pad to practice on.
I thoroughly enjoyed the time and was definitely more confident by the time I finished.

Ceramic bauble marbling workshop was great fun and easy to do. For best results less is more (Trust me!)

You get a kit with everything you need. It's up to you how many baubles you dip at the workshop.

The baubles do need 24hrs to dry before you can take them home, so be aware of that.

Looking forward to more ceramic marbling fun at home with the rest my kit and a couple of Christmas tree ornaments I picked up in store.

The teacher was nice and friendly. The only criticism I would say was that she didn't introduce herself or ask us what our names where and didn't even look a the paperwork we were asked to bring along with us. We could off been anyone.
The shop floor felt a little uncomfortable to being with, with shoppers walking around us and continuing to ask questions like 'where things were in the shop'. I felt bad for the lady trying to teach us as there were other members of staff around all happy to help. But the ladies on our table soon got used to it and carried on regardless and knuckled down into our work. But seriously after all off that. We had a wonderful time making our Christmas Wooden Advent Calendar Workshop.

I wasn't sure if both my Grandsons who are 8 and 10 would really enjoy the experience - I originally booked the workshop for our Granddaughters who are 9 and 7 but they were poorly on the day. I was though quite wrong as both the boys really enjoyed making their spiders. Easy to follow instructions and they had great ideas of how they would use them for Halloween. We headed straight to the pipe cleaner aisle afterwards and bought some different colours, more eyes and beads. Great fun. Thank you.

My 8 year old son loves these courses. Today we did the Halloween pumpkin paper mache class.

All materials provided, with a large table to craft on. Great ideas from the store teacher, and always so friendly and patient with the children.

My son asked for brown tissue paper which wasn’t on the table, and they just go and get the required colour from the shelves to make the creation as they wanted - they’re great.

I already had a booking for the kids Christmas card making, but whilst I was there, I booked the Christmas tree topper class!

No better kids crafting class out there. Hobbycraft are great at this.

The one-to-one workshop for the cricut maker was really informative! The teacher, Lisa K, began with a run through of all the functions giving lots of advice and great tips along the way, she answered all of my questions very easily and solved everything I was struggling with when using my machine at home.
The session was on the shop floor but set in an area that was quiet and undisturbed, the teacher was really lovely and helpful. I got a lot out of the session, great value for money!

I did this out of interest as having recently retired I'm looking for things to keep me busy. Lisa is lively, friendly and very knowledgeable on Cricut, knew the answers to my questions and went through what the machine can do, which is extensive, in a logical and methodical way.
My only negative is the table where you're sat is a bit in the open, I realise for the shop it's a good way to pique people's interest but a corner area might have been better, creating less footfall and distraction.
I enjoyed the hour discovering what Cricut can do and if, like me you're at a bit of a loss, book an hour, have a look and you never know your creative skills could well be unlocked!

Excellent class and I was surprised it still went ahead even though I was the only one present. The materials were lovely and very well presented in a box and wrapped in tissue giving it a special feel. I completed my painting in the time frame. The tutor was lovely and she was well prepared with notes to ensure we covered everything and we could keep to time. I had not painted a picture with acrylics before and she ensured I came away with lots of tips from mixing colours to the types of papers and brushes etc. This is the first Hobbycraft workshop I have attended though I have done other craft classes with other organisations and I will be very happy to attend another class in the future.

The venue was clean and the temperature was comfortable. I was shown how to use vinyl, together with some tools. They were very good and I liked being shown how to use them correctly. The class was good value for money and I will definitely attend another workshop. I learnt how to change a blade on my cricut. How to use the design area and the different mats, how to workout the size of my design and where to place it on the screen so it would print in the right place. I also learnt how to weld my words together with where to save them, so all in all it was a really useful hour.

Lisa F was my teacher based at the Chelmsford Branch. I love the branch , the staff are all approachable and the class was on a table upstairs not far from the Cricut material. Great positioning for being able to check what one needed before leaving the store. The machine I've purchase is the Joy and whilst I haven't registered it yet - something I didn't know I needed to do Lisa has passed on so much information to me I came away buzzing with excitement.
Lisa F's teaching skills are clearly very well thought about. The information she has shown me will get me off to a great start.
I would urge anyone wanting to have that personal 1:1 class to do so in whatever crafting they are interested in. If its something that Lisa F knows and has experience of I would also say see if she would be available - I will be back for sure.

Had my 2 granddaughters staying and thought this would be fun. They both loved it and 30 mins was perfect for my 4 year old. They picked ceramic money boxes and had a fine time painting and decorating them. Lisa G took the session and was brilliant, she helped the children and suggested ideas to them. Everything was provided for the price. Excellent value and entertainment, would definitely recommend.

The session only had 3 children so it was lovely and easy to help them. Lisa G was very good and explained to the children what to do. All the resources were provided and it was great fun. My youngest granddaughter, at 4, maybe found it a bit long but was delighted when glitter was provided. Lisa was excellent with both of mine aged 4 & 7, she joined in and helped the children.

We had a great mache session today at Chelmsford store. Sue was so welcoming and helpful throughout. There were various resources available to make decorating our eggs an enjoyable task. Sue was hands on and available to help at all times, she was very friendly and provided an excellent service. My daughter had a lovely time and especially loved decorating an egg with paint, pom poms, sequins, googly eyes and more. Thank you so much

My daughter 2.5 years thoroughly enjoyed painting and colouring her canvas with Lisa (I believe). The table was set up and ready when we arrived and there were lots of various resources available. My daughter was given the opportunity to explore colours freely and choose how to decorate her canvas. Lisa was very welcoming and encouraging throughout. An overall lovely session. Thank you

I booked this class with two friends and it was such fun! It was so exciting opening the massive box with all the paints and canvases. Just like Christmas all over again.

I had a one to one session with Lisa, working through some technics to use the Cricut Joy. Lisa was friendly, professional, approachable and a great representative for Hobby Craft.
The session was booked for an hour, and I was surprised just how quickly the time had gone, Lisa has lots of experience to share and I could have spent a few more hours with her to learn more. In advance of the session, Lisa kindly set up the equipment in a back room of the store to enable privacy, which I appreciated.
Now that I have the necessary tools to get going with projects, Once I’ve completed them, I’ll be rebooking to gain further knowledge for even more projects.
I would recommend this session to others and believe it is value for money.

Had a fab lesson with Lisa G. Did the basics of ‘get to know my new sewing machine’. Plus some basic sewing such as button holes. Ignore email when they tell you not to bring your machine - you do need to take your sewing machine. Lisa will ring beforehand to confirm this. She was kind and understanding and no question(s) was a silly question.
Would defo book another workshop based on this experience.

Only one thing was actually cut out and that didn’t cut properly so wasn’t a great intro. I was disappointed to have paid £5 per head and really don’t think this should be charged for. Could have watched a similar guide on YouTube

Lisa our teacher was brilliant, very helpful and let us take our time and made sure we knew what to do.
I liked having everything in the box, it was easy to see what we would be using and Lisa explained what we would do. It was great fun making baubles and would definitely do it again. I could make them on my own after this morning.
All of the materials in the box were very nice and Lisa helped with what items would fit in each bauble. It was value for the money.

The teacher had a passion for cricut and her knowledge was from her own usage and very informative, she didn't just point out what it did she had examples of how to use it in your own crafting. The only thing was she was so passionate that the class overrun by 20 mins as I was on a lunch break I didn't have time to browse the products but I will return.

The kids ceramic workshop was great, my 5yr old daughter really enjoyed herself and can’t wait to go back, well worth the £2 cost! My daughter was able to choose from a wide range of paint your own money boxes, which were on sale at £2 anyway, but was provided with lots of much better paints to choose from to decorate and without the hassle of the clear up at home!

My tutor for the day, Leah was patience itself. I'm a total sewing machine newbie but that didn't faze her. We had a good sized dedicated space on the 'sewing floor' and I was delighted that we could work on the same machine I have at home. Leah gave me useful tips and guidance, and was generous with practice pieces to take away. I now feel far more confident now to take the cover off my own machine and be a bit bolder. I'm really pleased I decided to book a 1-2-1. Excellent value for money. Lisa has so much patience and time with my son , always showed him what to do and then guided as he worked. The craft box was fantastic. We love the work shops . Thank you Lisa .

The young lady was very good, she knew her subject and I learnt a lot. Really interesting. The time went really quickly but was long enough to cover everything I wanted to know. Perhaps an ‘idiot’ sheet would have been useful for me (memory isn’t what it used to be!).
Once I get used to the machine I’ll be back for another workshop.

My kids (aged 9 and 7) loved their watercolour class. The teacher was so patient and kept them engaged for the whole session. They received some great items to take home so they could continue with the techniques they had learned. Would highly recommend.

I had a great time with Leah on the Cricut session. I had come along for an introduction to Cricut and she gave me masses of good basic information about the choices of machine and the variety of functions and projects that it can be used for. Her knowledge was superb.

I think the teacher was really nice, she smiled a lot and was very kind and encouraging. She never gave up on us no matter how long we took! She gave us time and the help we all needed - she was a great teacher.
The equipment was great, we had lots of extras to practice with. It was amazing and one of the best workshops we’ve been to.
If I could I would give her 59,295 out of 10!
