Gardening Workshop: Growing and Using Healing Herbs

Learn essential gardening skills at this unique gardening workshop in Manchester.

2 hours Class size 4 to 20 guests       £20

Dig into the fascinating world of herbs in this hands-on gardening session in Manchester, where you'll learn the essential skills to grow your own and discover the rich stories behind them. It's a calm, feel-good way to get your hands in the soil and bring a little green into your life.
You'll start by learning how to sow seeds and propagate plants from cuttings and root divisions, then put those skills straight to work growing a range of herbs. Along the way, you'll find out how these plants have been used throughout history, and how modern science and traditional knowledge come together to shape what we know about them today.
There's a soothing moment to savour, too, as you brew your own healing herbal tea to sip and enjoy.
This session is a brilliant fit for team-building or wellbeing days, community groups, or friends and family who'd love to learn something new together.
You'll head home with a collection of propagated plants ready to become the start of your very own herb garden – a living keepsake that'll keep growing long after the session ends.
What you'll get
  • A selection of herbs to grow at home.
  • A handout with information on the herbs, their uses, and aftercare tips.

Your teacher

After working as a high school teacher, I started my own gardening business with the intention of creating wildlife-friendly gardens which are good for nature and for people's wellbeing. Since then I've led volunteer groups, delivered accredited horticulture qualifications while working at a college, and run workshops on horticulture skills, herbalism and folklore. I've worked with elderly and disabled people, and those with mental health conditions and learning difficulties, helping them to access the many benefits to wellbeing of working in nature.
I deliver team bonding, wellbeing and educational sessions or courses to workplaces, community organisations and private groups.
As a trained teacher, I have a PGCE, and have a Level 2 in Practical Horticulture from the Royal Horticultural Society.
Examples of activities can include: growing herbs from seeds and cuttings, making herbal remedies, creating terrariums, pruning, and other skills tailored to your needs!
