If you've always wanted to have a go at pottery and wanted a bit of inspiration, this class will teach you to make an adorable handmade bird feeder to tempt all manner of feathered friends into your garden.
Hosted by experienced potter Louise, you'll be using a lovely stoneware clay to hand shape your bird feeder, with lots of ideas for the design, then adding pattern and decoration to your liking. You'll learn how to add high firing wire to make the perfect sculpture in the shape of a bird for your garden or as a gift for friends and family. The clay magically turns from a rich terracotta to a slate black in the high temperature kiln firing.
Once fired it can be fixed to a steel pole and is frost proof for all year round garden delight!
Don't worry if this is your first time trying ceramics, as Louise will be on-hand throughout the session with help and advice. Everything you need will be ready and waiting for you, so come along, enjoy the relaxed, friendly ambience and learn to create with clay.
Please note:
- You will need to arrange to collect (in about two weeks time) once fired, or your pieces can easily be posted at cost.
- Your teacher is also mobile within one hour of Northampton. This class can come to you in places such as Milton Keynes, Birmingham, Oxford, Coventry and Leicester. Just drop the teacher a message for more information.
