6 hours Class size 8 to 10     label £70

Spend a fun day in a friendly and relaxing environment and discover the exciting art of drypoint printmaking.

Drypoint printing is an intaglio printing process very similar to etching but without the use of acid. Originally metal plates were used, in this workshop we will use acetate plates.

We will practice mark making using an etching needle. Then using a reference image, you will use the needle to create your final printing plate. You will be guided on how to ink up your plate and make your prints. Each is unique as the inking process varies slightly each time.

The workshops are run from 10.30am to 4.30pm in a lovely bright schoolroom at Rectory Farm. The building is completely accessible, all on one level and has plenty of parking in front of the building and has a lovely view across rolling hills.

We will have a couple of breaks during the day with tea/coffee/juice biscuits and cake provided.

I'm Sara and I originally trained as a technical illustrator but now work part-time as a scientific illustrator at a large university where I produce illustrations and animations for science courses. I also love drawing animals mostly in pencils, pastels and watercolour. I try to focus in on their eyes to really capture their character.

During the past couple of years I have also gone back to doing printmaking, drypoint specifically. I love drypoint printing as there is no need for the use of acids and can easily be done at home.

About 6 years ago I did a teacher training course and now I run workshops for animal pastel drawing and drypoint printing. I run them at a beautiful, quiet farm location overlooking a valley in a fully accessible building. The workshops are fun, friendly and relaxed.
