Down to Earth is Art4Space’s brand‑new, all‑levels ceramics course in London designed to bring that same spirit of play, craft, and heartfelt creativity into your own practice! You’ll explore a full spectrum of clay and ceramic techniques, whether you’re expanding your skills or touching clay for the very first time.
You don't need any experience to join! Down to Earth is about slowing down, getting your hands messy, and discovering what clay reveals when you let yourself play. It’s about confidence, curiosity, and the quiet magic of making something that didn’t exist before.
What to expect:
  • Hand Building Foundations: Pinch pot techniques and slab building for form and structure.
  • Coiling: Create your own spiral bowl, full of movement and character.
  • Tile Glazing: Produce two Azulejos-inspired tiles, drawing on the beauty of Portuguese pattern and colour.
  • Nerikomi: Explore this mesmerising Japanese technique of layering coloured clays to create intricate patterns.
  • Alternative Glazing Techniques: Experiment with surface, texture, and expressive finishes.
  • Decal Crockery: Personalise ceramics with imagery, motifs, and storytelling
By the end, you’ll have 10–12 unique pieces -- a generous body of work that demonstrates both hand building and glazing skills, and a real sense of your own creative voice emerging.
