  • 5/5 from Allie Williams, attended Sep 2026: Great workshop. Sarah was really clear with her explanation and in no time at all we had completed a practice piece and set up our tea light. It's a lovely mindful activity. We all thought our finished products had turned out beautifully

I have always enjoyed art and craft of some kind, but I have always been particularly interested in folk art painting. In 2017, my husband and I bought a Dutch barge and motored it all the way from the Netherlands to our hometown at the top of the Thames. We already owned a narrowboat, and I fell in love with canal art and folk art from around the world.
When I learned that I was going to be made redundant from my university teaching job, I decided to set up a craft business. I knew that folk art painting and dot mandala painting were what I wanted to teach, so The Crafty Boater was born. I now teach and run local craft markets.
