Jane Burkinshaw

Jane Burkinshaw from Love Your Lens runs the digital photography and photo editing courses at Share Your Story. Jane is a professional photographer and teacher with more than 20 years’ experience. She helps beginners and improvers who want to feel more confident with their camera or phone, but more importantly, who want to feel more connected to what they’re photographing. Because taking better photos isn’t just about settings. It’s about understanding what draws your eye, learning how to use light and composition in a simple, practical way, and building the confidence to trust your own judgement.

When people come to one of Jane’s courses, it’s not about memorising lots of technical information - but you will come away understanding the key settings and how to use them with confidence. It’s about learning to notice more, trying things out without pressure, understanding why something works, and gradually feeling more in control of the images you create. That’s when photography starts to feel natural and genuinely enjoyable.
Alongside teaching, Jane is a professional photographer specialising in food photography, working with businesses to create natural, engaging images.
That real-world experience feeds into everything she teaches, keeping it practical, relevant and focused on what actually makes a difference.
Over the years, she has worked with thousands of people, from complete beginners to businesses, always with the same aim: To help you feel more confident, see more clearly, and enjoy photography in a way that feels like your own.
Jane runs 4 courses at Share Your Story: Digital Photography, Phone Photography, Composition for Better Photos and Lightroom for Beginners.

Share Your Story

One of the things you learn in life is that telling stories and capturing them is so important. Many people have bought things to capture stories, whether it's a camera, microphone, video camera, or even a notebook, and don't ever get down to doing it because they don't really know how to do it, ” Simon Hepburn, Owner of Share Your Story.
Share Your Story first opened its doors in May 2025. It is a creative hub in the heart of Altrincham where you can receive the help, inspiration, and support to tell stories that create lasting impressions about the important things in your life.
Share Your Story is a unique space, with a fully equipped creative studio at the back which is available for hire for podcasting, video, and photography. Within this space, Share Your Story also provides courses in photography, writing, and creative content.
