Darning Workshop

Let's take our clothes on more adventures!

2 hours Class size 1 to 7 guests       £30

During this workshop, you will learn how to create a beautiful hand-woven darn to give a new lease of life to your clothes.
You will learn how to use a darning mushroom and needle and thread to weave a patch over a hole in a piece of clothing you already own and would like to bring to the workshop or on a piece of fabric provided at the workshop. You will not be able to take the equipment home with you from the workshop, but they will be available to purchase if you wish.
Your clothes have been loved and worn out, and they deserve to keep on going on adventures with you. With this new skill, they can regain their strength and become an active part of your wardrobe again.
This workshop will take place at Cow Parsley Studio, Viables Craft Centre, The Harrow Way, RG22 4BJ, Basingstoke. It will run from 18:30 - 20:30. You are very welcome to bring a piece of fabric that you would like to mend, but this is optional.
What you'll get
The knowledge of how to darn and class notes to take away. You will also be able to take the sample that you worked on in the studio or your own piece that you worked on in the studio home with you. There will be an opportunity to buy a darning mushroom if you so wish.
Knowledge required
No prior skills or knowledge required.
What to bring
It is not a requirement, but if you have an item of clothing (preferably woven) that you would like to mend at the workshop, you are more than welcome to bring it.

Hello, I'm Annabel!
I am a weaver and I love to share the knowledge that I have with all you creatives!
I have just finished my degree in woven textiles where my final major project was centred around minibeasts and surrounding children with more imagery of their local wildlife to further support their ongoing learning.
