Get Started with Chain and Treble Stitches
We will have a nice, relaxed practice of the stitches we'll be using before we embark on our full square. I'll break it down for total beginners, and offer tips and tricks for those who've had a go at hooking before!

Get Started on Our First Round of Our Square
Now we start our square proper! Using the stitches we've practised, we will start to crochet the first round of our granny square.
Rounds 2, 3, & Beyond
Keep on trucking! We will explore how to form the corners and sides of our squares, how to change colour, and grow our confidence in how the square is constructed so that we can carry on crocheting at home.
Jump for Joy
It's come together! The corners are in the right places, and it's all making sense! You'll have a blanket-worth of squares to sew together before you know it, happy crafting!

Your teacher
Cathy Van Hear is a textile artist living and working in Hove, UK. She specialises in crochet, alongside using hand and machine stitching, embroidery, knitting, and natural dye techniques in her work. She has worked as a freelance textile art fabricator for clients including Greenpeace, Selfridges, and Glastonbury Festival, and has run workshops at the Southbank Centre, the Royal Academy of Arts, and at festivals and art events across the UK. Cathy teaches her selection of crochet courses for adults in venues across London, Brighton, and at her Hove Studio. Classes cover crochet skills from the very beginning, and take you on a journey from first stitches to designing and making your very own personalised sweater. Bookable as one-offs and in separate blocks depending on your level, you can take your crochet journey at your own pace.
