Have a pile of clothes that don't quite fit or need fixing? In this practical workshop at Anna Stella Fashion Academy in Manchester, you'll learn the alteration and repair skills that give your favourite clothes a second life and save you money at the tailor.
What you'll do:
  • Shorten trousers and skirts with a neat, professional hem.
  • Take in side seams to adjust the fit of a garment.
  • Sew on buttons and press studs and fix open seams.
  • Patch and mend holes and tears so they last.
  • Learn which repairs are best done by hand and which on the sewing machine.
Bring one or two items from your own wardrobe that need attention, and you'll work on them in class. Our studio is fully equipped with sewing machines, tools, and threads, and you'll get step-by-step guidance on using them.
The workshop is led by the founder of Anna Stella Fashion Academy, a fashion designer and pattern maker with more than 30 years of experience, who teaches fashion design to students across the UK and the Arab world.
Classes are kept small (up to 6 guests), so everyone gets personal help with their own garments. You'll leave with repaired clothes and the confidence to fix the next ones yourself.

Hi, I'm Anna Stella. Fashion has been my language for more than 30 years. I started with hand sketching and couture-style pattern making, and over time expanded into digital design, Adobe Illustrator and modern creative tools, including AI in fashion. Today I teach through Anna Stella Fashion Academy in Manchester, guiding beginners and aspiring designers to build confidence, learn professional methods and create work they're proud to show.
What makes my teaching different is the balance between creativity and structure: we don't just draw beautiful sketches, we build strong fashion lines, understand proportions and translate ideas into patterns that actually fit. I run small-group workshops at my own fully equipped studio in Manchester, as well as private 1-to-1 lessons and online classes.
