  • 5/5 from Moneka Duffy, attended Aug 2026: Great experience with each step explained clearly. Would recommend to others who are keen to try out a new hobby!
  • 5/5 from Joseph Herson, attended May 2026: The class was great! Learnt to rebind a paperback book I had and it will be my first of many. Andrea was friendly and gave plenty of great tips on how to do it, would really recommend this class to anyone that wants an easy and accessible introduction to book binding!
  • 5/5 from Brian Hindmoor, attended Apr 2026: A really enjoyable course and a great way to spend your day. The instructor is very knowledgeable and excellent at explaining each step of the process. She even accommodated a bespoke request I was keen to try and I am so happy with the result - it has a very professional fininsh which is exactly what I was hoping for.
  • 5/5 from Janet McHugh, attended Jun 2025: Had an excellent day in this class. Really enjoyed it. Andrea was clearly passionate about her craft and very patient in her teaching of us. Everything was explained step by step and I was delighted to take home a fully functioning and attractively bound notebook with contrasting end papers and few mistakes. Testament to Andrea's clear instructions. Course handouts were provided as were all materials. Very enjoyable workshop. Highly recommended. Janet M.
  • 5/5 from Amy Nicholas, attended Mar 2025: Great class. Andrea was brilliant. Really knowledgeable and patient. I would definitely recommend this class.
  • 5/5 from Chris, attended Aug 2024: The aim of this class is to make a smart A5 32-page hard bound notebook, from scratch - and that is what we did! The photos are of the book I made, and I am really pleased with it. Andrea is a really good teacher. You start off with the basics - identifying the grain of the paper, how to fold paper, use of the tools - and you are away. If you go wrong, she is very helpful in giving you a steer as to how to fix it. She supplies all the tools and materials. I knew a bit about book binding already, but you can do this class without any prior knowledge. Andrea takes you through it all step by step, and has lots of hints and tips. The Engine House is a pleasant workspace off the courtyard of Islington Mill. There ia a cafe there as well where you can get something to eat and drink. I think that the few hours were great value for money; you come away with a great little book and confidence that, with a few simple tools, you can do the same thing yourself at home. Highly recommended.
