Make Your Own Handmade Soap in Nottingham
Ever wanted to learn how handmade soap is made? Join Skilled Hands Organisation CIC for a hands-on traditional soap-making workshop in Nottingham and create your own beautiful, scented soaps from scratch.
This beginner-friendly workshop is a chance to slow down, get creative and learn a new practical skill in a relaxed setting. You’ll be guided through the soap-making process and have the opportunity to experiment with fragrances, colours, natural oils, butters and dried herbs to create soaps that reflect your own style.
During the session, you’ll make four handmade soaps while learning the basic techniques and considerations involved in traditional soap making.
What you’ll do
* Learn the basics of traditional soap making
* Explore different fragrances and essential oils
* Experiment with colours, textures and dried herbs
* Discover how oils and butters are used when making soap
* Make four handmade soaps
* Learn practical tips for continuing your soap-making journey at home
* Take part in a hands-on creative experience suitable for beginners
What happens to your soap afterwards?
Traditional handmade soap needs time to cure before it becomes fully hard and ready to use. Your soaps will therefore still be soft immediately after the workshop and will need approximately 4–6 weeks to fully cure and harden.
Your soaps will not be wrapped like finished retail soaps when collected. They will be carefully packed in cardboard boxes because they will still need to breathe and continue curing.
Choose how you take your soap home
Option 1 – Free collection
Your soaps can be carefully packed in cardboard boxes and collected on an agreed day after the workshop. They may still be soft when collected and will continue to cure at home.
Option 2 – Take your soap home in a purchased mould (£10)
You can purchase a soap mould from us on the day and take your soap home after the session. The mould helps support the soap while it continues to set and cure at home.
Please note that your soap will still be hot and have a soft, custard-like consistency immediately after making it.
Option 3 – Bring your own mould
You’re welcome to bring your own suitable soap mould to the workshop and take your soap home with you afterwards. Your soap will still be hot and soft and will need to continue curing at home.
