Fun and adventure await in pottery wheel throwing sessions.

2.5 hours Class size 1 to 4 guests

  £65 - £100 (£100 per guest when you book for 1 guest, £65/guest for 2+ guests)

Join us for a pottery class in Watford at Sarah Core Arts' studio and experience the exciting world of wheel-throwing! In this 2.5-hour workshop, you'll learn how to centre on the wheel and throw a beautiful pot. And the best part? No experience is necessary!
Whether you choose to work on a genuine Leach wheel or an electric wheel, you'll have the opportunity to switch between the two, adding an extra element of fun and exploration to your pottery journey. Our friendly and knowledgeable instructors, Sarah or Rebecca, will guide you through the process, making sure you feel comfortable every step of the way.
A Leach wheel focus (treadle wheel) is available for 1 person sessions. Daunted?  You are not alone.  Some folks struggle with the idea of mindfulness creativity and physical effort working together but working with the treadle wheel allows a slower moment of connection with the what the clay is ‘doing’ might have been missed on the electric wheel. We can work with sensitivity in the way we respond to these moments to allow the pot to progress.  Sarah is with you all the way in this special 121 session.
Don't worry if you're a complete beginner – this workshop is designed with you in mind! The studio will provide all the materials and tools you need to create your masterpiece. You'll work with high-quality clay and glazes, giving your finished piece a professional touch.
Once your pottery is complete, Sarah will fire it to a high standard, ensuring a beautiful finish. You'll be able to collect your creations a few weeks after the session, allowing you to proudly display your handmade pottery at home or give it as a thoughtful gift to a loved one.
Join us on this pottery adventure, and unleash your creativity in a supportive and welcoming environment. Book your spot today and create lasting memories in our pottery class in Watford. Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to learn a new skill and engage in a fun and rewarding activity!
Fun and adventure in pottery wheel-throwing sessions. Great for couples! Come to Sarah Core Arts' studio for pottery throwing sessions. There is a choice of working on a genuine Leach wheel (a treadle wheel) or an electric wheel, and the opportunity to switch between the two. Complete beginners are welcome.

  • 5/5 from Sam Kyprianou, attended May 2026: I had such a wonderful experience at this pottery class and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in trying ceramics. Sarah was an amazing teacher — so warm, patient, and friendly from the moment we arrived. She made us feel relaxed and fun while still teaching us so much. We were guided through every step of the process, from centering the clay and learning how to throw it properly on the wheel, to shaping and moulding it into a bowl or mug. Sarah explained everything clearly and was always there to help and encourage us, which made the experience enjoyable even as complete beginners. Everything we needed was provided, including the materials, paints, and firing of the pieces afterwards, so it was all completely stress-free. The studio itself is beautiful, cozy, and welcoming — such a lovely atmosphere to spend a few hours in. Honestly, there’s nothing negative I could say about the experience. We had such a great time and will definitely be coming back again. Thank you, Sarah, for such a fun and memorable class!

Becca was our instructor and she was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. She made us feel welcome the moment we walked in and genuinely happy to have us there. As complete beginners, we expected to feel a bit awkward, but she put us at ease straight away. She was patient, clear in her explanations, and never made us feel rushed. Every step was demonstrated in a way that made it easy to follow, and she was right there whenever we needed a bit of guidance. The whole session had a relaxed, encouraging atmosphere, and that was entirely down to her. We left feeling proud of what we’d made and already talking about when we can come back. Highly recommend booking a class with Becca. She’s fantastic at what she does and makes the whole experience feel special.

  • 5/5 from Wilma Rix, attended Mar 2026: We signed up for this session out of curiosity about what it is like to make a pot on a wheel. The whole experience was so much better than we imagined - fascinating but also deeply relaxing and the time went very quickly. Sarah is very pleasant to be with and a great teacher as she is extremely knowledgeable about her craft but can also break the process down into manageable steps, while catering for right and left handers at the same time. We very much enjoyed this session.

She stuck the perfect balance between sharing her expertise, whilst also encouraging us to experiment and learn for ourselves. We had lots of giggles throughout and left the class definitely wanting to do more!

  • 5/5 from Tabitha Quitman, attended Mar 2025: Sarah was an amazing teacher! So patient, calm, fun and engaging. She walked us through how to do all the basics, and gave us plenty of time to get used to the clay, using the kit and understanding how everything worked. Even getting to use a leach was amazing! Small classes which allowed her to make time for each person, and you feel like you've actually made something good at the end of the class! Will be back :)

Cant wait to return to see our pices after they've been fired. Highly recommended.

  • 5/5 from Victor, attended Oct 2024: Great, I was given a pottery wheel lesson for my 80th. I couldn't wish for a nicer 'teacher' Sarah was so helpful, laid back and patient, which made the experience a pleasure. The pottery lesson was at her Studio which was exactly as expected, and correct. We were both pleased with my pottery throwing result, now look forward to collecting in a few weeks. I can highly recommend Sarah, a fully professional, and I consider the session good value for money. Oh one more thing, if you're 'throwing on the wheel' keep your elbows 'in'
  • 5/5 from Leanne Mitchell, attended Aug 2024: Amazing class...fascinating process to make the clay pot. And the host is a lovely person who I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with. What more could you ask for! Thank you Sarah for a lovely day
  • 5/5 from Raman Chagger, attended Aug 2024: I went for my first ever throwing session with Sarah who is a brilliant potter and a great teacher. She explained and demonstrated what she was doing stage by stage in a clear manner. This made it much easier for me to follow and grasp the basic concepts involved in throwing and working with clay. I found Sarah inspirational and very supportive with her encouraging comments. I wasn't sure if pottery was for me but left feeling in a more peaceful and centred place within myself. I will certainly return and would have no hesitation in recommending Sarah.
