Ceramic Tea Light Holder Workshop

Pottery class

2 hours Location Saltford Class size 1 to 8 guests   £30

In this two-hour pottery class, you will learn how to make a tea light holder from slabs of clay. You’ll explore how to shape, join and carve the clay, creating spaces for the light to shine through. Your finished piece will be glazed for you and ready to take home once it has been fired, giving you a beautiful handmade object to enjoy.
This workshop is suitable for beginners, so you do not need any previous pottery experience. You’ll be guided through each stage of the process, with plenty of support as you learn how to work with clay. There is no pressure to make everything perfect – the activity is designed to be relaxed, hands-on and enjoyable.
The class will take place in my riverside pottery studio and will run for two hours. You’ll work with soft slabs of clay, cutting and assembling them to create the shape of your tea light holder. You can then carve out patterns, shapes or openings that allow the candlelight to glow through your design. Working with clay can feel calming and absorbing, giving you the chance to slow down, focus and enjoy making something with your hands.
After the class, you will choose a glaze colour for me to paint onto your piece after the initial firing. Your pottery will then be glazed and fired, ready for collection approximately 2–4 weeks later.
By the end of this uplifting pottery class, you’ll have learnt new creative skills, experienced the rewarding process of making by hand and created a unique tea light holder to take home and use.
