Join this introduction to wheel-throwing class in Stow-on-the-Wold, where you'll learn key techniques like shaping, centering, and refining your pots. You'll learn to create functional pottery bowls using the potter's wheel, with personalised instruction and attention from your friendly pottery tutor, Selby.
Selby is a seasoned pro who has never had a student fail to make a pot, so you'll fit right in! Throughout this fun, hands-on session, all materials will be provided, and you'll receive plenty of guidance in a supportive, creative environment. With only eight students per class, you'll get ample one-on-one help. Your time will be split between using one of the four wheels in the studio and learning the classic art of making a coil pot at the benches.
You'll have the opportunity to have your favourite two unique pieces (usually one wheel-thrown pot and one coil pot) fired and glazed by Selby. This is a perfect opportunity to discover a new way to have fun, leaving you with a lasting, beautiful keepsake and the beginning of a brand-new creative obsession. Plus, you'll need to squeeze in slices of all the delicious cakes plus coffee from the wonderful bean-to-cup coffee machine and maybe a little glass of bubbly before you leave for the day!
Please note:
  • Your two favourite pieces will be fired and glazed, and ready for you to collect roughly three to four weeks after your session.
  • Finished pieces can be posted for an additional charge, although collection is preferred.
  • If you make more than two items, you'll have to choose your favourite two pieces as the rest will be consigned to the 'Bucket of Doom' to be recycled!
